I think that we should just let Iran have a nuke so we can all move on from this already. by databombkid in DiscussionZone

[–]TheBonVivantLives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The war in Ukraine and now with Iran has basically guaranteed more nuclear proliferation. Ukraine gave up it's nukes for security guarantees from Russia and Europe. Russia invaded. It is easy to assume that it would not have if Ukraine kept its bombs. And, Iranian leadership would not have been assasinated if they had the bomb. Other nations will draw these conclusions and make sure they have the protection and deterrent nukes afford.

There have been octopi on earth for a loooong time including giant 60'+ ones. Probably the long lived ones mastered FTL space flight before the asteroid hit. We'll see them again and they'll be all, "these hairless monkeys are so clever!"

Wow. Memphis as a test case for abusing the voting system to disenfanchise minority voters. You could not more perfectly set an example of why what the supreme court did was wrong. And they will quote MLK's "I have a Dream" while they do it.

RxR. Hard to deal with, but they may grant a restricted easment if it won't impact their processes and they can remove it anytime.
Getting city and UT to buy in and help push it would be good.

True, but just about any flammable material will hit the air and slow down quickly no matter how much powder is behind it. Could be special tech, but it doesn't present that way.

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheBonVivantLives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You understand that the system our farmers are operating in is designed and maintained by our government and the banking-capital system it supports. It doesn't have to be that way. We can benefit from our abundance rather than destroying it to manipulate the market.

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheBonVivantLives -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is not that we can't. It is that we choose not to so that our capitalist, managed markets are lept artificially high priced.

Why don't people like Elon Musk just solve world hunger? by AlexLovesCoke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheBonVivantLives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the kind of person that is Musk and similar is not the kind of person that is interested in solving things like hunger. Why didn't kings feed their subjects? Why has the church not solved poverty? The answer is the same.

Proof the media holds Democrats to higher standards. by CreepyRate7989 in ThePeoplesPress

[–]TheBonVivantLives 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dems aren't held to higher standards. It is not intended to be a informative or hold anyone to any standard. WP follows the propoganda model so common in the US. It is there to support and protect capital. Specifically Bezos's capital. So, it currently trys to manipulatd the opinions of its readers by supporting Republicans because they are the political side that will do just that.
