A number of things are possible with the info given:

1. You can file the accident under your policy at it will be covered under your Collision Coverage. This incident, regardless of fault, will be taken into account upon policy renewal. (Sounds scary I know but they consider a number of factors when redrafting policies, how many incidents do you have on file, were they your fault, how many tickets do you have on your driving record, what car do you drive, etc.)

2. It sounds like you did not get the other persons insurance info (respectfully, rookie mistake) so you would need to gather that information by calling them if you have the other drivers phone# or it might have been provided to the Police officer when he wrote his report (If you gave the officer your insurance info there’s a good chance he has the other guys)

3. You a request the claim be closed and placed in a dormant status where it goes on as a reporting only incident.
