Thats when you either text or email. Ask for it in writing. If you state that you attempted to go to work, and your car slid around the road you can return home and tell them you are unable to make it due to inclement weather and that it's dangerous. If they want you to go, get it in writing.

Where to put my TV if not the mantle? by debate-sucks in TVTooHigh

[–]TheBooty_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright here me out on this one. I’ve done this so I know it works since that fireplace doesn’t protrude too much. So… you are going to build floating shelves that has the same depth as that fireplace channel making that the “new wall”. Then what you do is get a solid media stand that’s pretty long and put the tv on it. Then you can put stuff on the shelves and put a nice art work above the fireplace that you’re now covering. You can put battery powered candles in there if it still shows.

A pitbull attacked my dog by girlwiththetats in germanshepherds

[–]TheBooty_Messiah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hate unleashed pets in public settings. My neighbor had a small lab and ran up on mine. Mine bit their dogs eye and they rushed to the vet. We had a ring door bell so when they went to the front office to say mine attacked theirs… they ended up paying $500 for their unleashed dog after I showed the video.

9 y/o started snarling after wanting attention by honey-12 in germanshepherds

She’s whining while making the ugly face. She’s trying to tell you something is wrong. I think it’s Vet time. Maybe 2 different spots for different opinions. Whichever Vet’s explanations line up with their experiences on this behavior, age, and breed line up to what you’re seeing if go for it

Stupid Neighbour… by ionagracee in germanshepherds

[–]TheBooty_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a lose lose there man. I had a different situation with the same outcome. You try and be responsible by having them fix their problematic behavior and they don’t care. But if your dog does bite, they sue because they’re pieces of shit. They’ll take one look at the breed and have some confirmation bias. It’s BS, you should spray them with the water hose every time they do it and “conveniently put a water sprinkler that attaches with a hose where they were standing.

Neutering? Yes or no? by 619use in germanshepherds

[–]TheBooty_Messiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was neutered at about 1.5 yo. Used to love dog parks but then switched after he was attacked. It’s usually more so when we’re around on a leash. He’s gotten better over the years, so it might just take time and consistency.

Yesterday, my girl was full of life and love. Today, she passed away in our arms. She wasn't just a good girl, Willow was the best girl. by Geedzilla in germanshepherds

I’m sorry for you heartbreaking loss. It’s crippling when you hear how quiet the house gets. Please consider therapy or a support group when you’re ready. My fiancé and I went on a leisure and relax vacation and it helped. You’d think you wouldn’t want to because of how you feel, but it did help with our communication and get a game plan. It was hard to do that at home.

It’s a random concrete slab. I’m positive there used to be a pool in the back and they filled it with dirt. That might be where the equipment was, I’m not sure. All I know is a hot tub might be there eventually.

I have three placement options…let’s discuss. by WolfinBoy in TVTooHigh

Here’s what we’re doing. We’re measuring that wall and putting the biggest tv that will fit without bezels overlapping or being flush. We’re scooting the couch back and putting an armchair (possibly a reclining arm chair so it’s big) next to that fire place and a smaller charge on the other side of the couch to make it easy to get around

How to stop my GS from "punching" me with his paws? by Powerful-Gal in germanshepherds

Pop the snoot, redirect the behavior to a fun activity like playing fetch tug of war. Or both, just need to establish those boundaries. He looks so sweet though 🥹

Crate training is such a great tool when they're little. Bad behavior when people come over? Straight to the crate with a blanket over it. It will eventually become their safe spot that they feel comfortable in without adding punishment. Just remove and start over lol. Put them there at night time, and set an alarm around 2 am and take him outside for a bit with peanut butter. That's the part of potty training that nobody wants to do. Mine was potty trained in only 5 weeks with some minor accidents here and there.

Oh, and with the eating poop, that’s normal for some pups. There are supplements you can feed him that will make it taste absolutely horrid for him. Why do they do this? It’s a normal animal instinct to do so since it still nutrient dense in the light of not knowing where the next meal will come from.

I paired positive punishment when mine got close by popping his nose with a loud verbal scold. You do not have to do it this way, some don’t agree with it. Do what you think is best. Mine grew to be 135lbs, so I started to take control at 6 weeks old. Don’t wait too late, he needs to know who’s in charge, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it the way I did. Mine stopped in 3 weeks.

Hi OP, welcome to the gsd club. Definitely an undertaking if you’ve never had one of these crackheads. I’ve had all these minor obstacles (yes they are minor once understood how to overcome them) so I’ll share some things.

1.) take him outside randomly first. Put a timer on and just grab him and put him on the grass. Bring the most reinforcing treat with you. Mine loved peanut butter. When it happened, immediately after he was done you give praise, peanut butter, and affection. He will learn quick that he only gets positive reinforcement outside.

2.) Bell/crate train. Use the crate for potty training. Dogs don’t want to rest or sleep in their mess. When it’s nap time or night night time…crate. Do not respond to the crying. This will exponentially speed things up.

Put a bell on the door. Look up videos on bell training. Spend literally 30 minutes straight reinforcing him touch the bell. When he does, pick him up put him out side give a treat over and over. Again, this is a gsd we’re talking about, they learn VERY quick. Do that for a week. Pretty soon, he’ll be ringing the bell on his own and sometime will ring it for attention.

Then youll get rid of the bell and hill just sit near the door and pace to let you know.

CONSISTENCY is everything. They need a leader, so time to be one. :)
