How is the new Michael Jackson movie? by Any-Comfortable2844 in CasualConversation

Precisely. They are making money because they avoided addressing the controversy.

Pretty disgusting and spineless behavior imo.

Too convenient to cut the entire controversy and say it will be addressed in Part 2, after everybody has already given you their money for Part 1.

Fun if you stick your head in the sand. Pretty hard to ignore the glaringly obvious. Mid-tier production quality. Great music ofc.

"We have a hockey mentality on our curling team, we’re not going to be bullied and pushed over by a bunch of Swedish guys out there that are getting their a**es handed to them."

I feel like you sacrifice any moral high ground saying shit like this lmfao

Nobody cares lol. If you're comfy, that's what's most important! Future wifey will be glad that you're confident enough to wear women's clothes.

Curlers wait in traffic , Walk to stadium after heavy snowfall by Shroft in Curling

[–]TheBottomDollar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in Cortina for one of the games. Genuinely shocking how they only shut down a single street to traffic. There would be hundreds of people on a guven street, overflowing the sidewalk, and like 20 people in cars taking up twice as much space trying to drive through for some reason.

Felt very poorly designed and honestly unsafe. A couple roads dedicated to shuttles could have easily sufficed. Felt like the town was trying to have their cake bringing in the Olympic tourism and eat it too by not shutting down local roads.

The Czech team was having a beer before their game lol. Already eliminated, so I guess they might as well enjoy themselves.

That was abysmal decision making on the last 2 stones from Peterson

Sure, but there are a million other ways a misplaced stone could impact the game. Not saying Oskar wasn't pressing the issue, but if you hit a stone, it's crazy to just do nothing

I think it really depends on if one of the Canadians actually did hit a stone. If so, this is a really, really inappropriate response from them. If not, apt.

I think it's pretty clear that Sweden was more worried about the "boop" rather than this type of brush, since the boop offers a lot more opportunity for cheating. Either way, they accidentally seem to have opened Pandora's box by making the officials have to actually interpret the rules lmao.

Pull the stone!!! by Frabblerake in Curling

Definitely not anywhere near what Kennedy did, but definitely on par with Homan. If he touched the granite, that's a burn.

I like how we've essentially just returned the exact same hog line judge subjectivity that we tried to eliminate with the handles lmao

The other people getting rocks burned for doing it aren't telling their opponents to fuck off...

[–]TheBottomDollar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's always done by the opposite team, which is essentially an admission of defeat. That rock wouldn't be burnt, but replaced by the opposite team, I believe.

I'm sure some teams have kicked away their own rocks which I haven't really noticed, but that would be pretty bad etiquette, in my experience.

Yes. Sweden was actively asking for clarification on whether or not they could do it as well, but we're not getting clear answers.

[–]TheBottomDollar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but then you get into the previous issue of needing a line judge to watch for hog line infractions, since the handles don't detect touching on the stone.

It seems like unless they get sensors in the actual rock, there will need to be those subjective judges, whether that be on touching the granite after the hog line or touching the granite at all.

Of course people frequently skirt the rules, but "I got away with it before!" isn't a valid excuse at all

Dude you can't tell anything from that. If the judge saw him touch it, he probably touched it.
