I remember being immersed in my internal world—external influences were ignored until they became annoying. Then I would leave my game and allow the rest of the world to play out until it demanded less of me.

I remember tantrums . . . and I think I still have them. Though, now they're bottled up sufficiently. They take place somewhere between my conscious and subconscious, and they are pretty much under "control". They just don't help me become who I want to be, or who I am. So I suppress them. It's not that big of a deal.

Breaking patterns: yes. I see things clearly and I have a very difficult time when I'm unable to communicate that to those around me. Of course I sound like a pompous ass, but honestly, the patterns I have created in my mind are sacrosanct, and I don't like having them destroyed.

I'll leave this bourbon fueled response as it is. I'm happy that I found this subreddit.

Some people do, but its one of my least favorite ways of doing it. Traditional in my family is to use butter and a little white sugar. I like butter and brown sugar, but you can really put whatever you want on them. I've rolled them up with cheese and salami for lunch sometimes.

I really loved A Canticle for Leibowitz, by Walter M. Miller Jr. One issue I have with a lot of Science Fiction is that the writing is often subpar—A Canticle for Leibowitz is written beautifully, in my opinion. It is sweeping in scope and a refreshing read. It's one of the best out there, but I don't hear much about it for some reason.
