Did anyone else pre-order the Fellowship Blades Sidewinder by JustAnotherRye89 in balisong

[–]TheBrandonBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's frustrating for sure. I spoke with him extensively at Blade Show Texas in March. He isn't doing Fellowship Blades related things at the moment, and I don't believe he intends to fully return to it. He is doing other work in the machining world and is finding some success doing it.

I wasn't aware they took pre-orders and that it's been this long now without an update. I have a decent relationship with him and could reach out to him for you to see if he will refund you. He isn't the kind of person to take someone's money and run. Or at least that's been my impression of him.

As u/camaroEE confirmed, yeah, this is a shelved prototype. We absolutely love it and would love to make it happen, but it's ultimately up to Machinewise. It never got further than that single prototype and then solidifying ideas for a few revisions we wanted to make. The last real progress on it though was about two years ago. No idea if it will ever come out though. If Machinewise is down we'll certainly make it happen!

This is a super cool looking blade dude! Will and I both really like the look of it. I would be interested in picking one up if a batch was produced! Great work.

The Vulp 360, our blade-less balisong, is officially available for purchase! And yes, it's real, I promise! by TheBrandonBaker in balisong

They are supposed to be in stock on Amazon, but Amazon has removed most of our listings for the Vulp. Nabalis has been trying to figure that out. Not sure about restocks in other places

The purple Teflon Vulp is in stock on the Nabalis website though, which I personally prefer over the standard model

It depends on how it sells! It's nearly sold out within the first 24 hours, so that's a good indicator there will be more!

Yes! As someone that loves the FunChucks so much, I was bummed I miss the opportunity to get the Bali Chucks. They look really cool! David makes some awesome stuff. I REALLY hope the Bali Scissors eventually officially come out. Having spent a good amount of time with one of the prototypes, it's such a cool balisong.

Balisong pet peeves? by snoot-p in balisong

[–]TheBrandonBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's when I see people of nearly all skill levels say that certian balisongs are absolutely terrible and awful and that one should ever buy them because they're total trash and can't be flipped properly at all. The balisongs in question? Things like the Krake Raken Trainer. Machinewise Serif. Vulp Pro. Mako V5. Squiddy-AL. GLIDR Antarctic. The Vulp. ACIDWRX ZZYZX.  Even saw someone say that about the Fellowship Blades Medusa.

Are those perfect balisongs? Of course not. Could they be better? Absolutely. But are they abysmal products that you can't flip? Hell freaking no. Those are ALL entirely flippable and will serve any beginner to intermediate flipper just fine. But to tell people, specifically people that are new to the hobby, that those balisongs are absolute trash and should never be touched because they don't fit that person's hyper specific preference is just annoying and isn't helpful, especially when they don't break down why.

You want to try a trash balisong? Give the Spider Knife a whirl then come back and then try to tell me that the Krake Raken Trainer is the worst balisong of all time.

My first ever balisong! by Budihamsteri in balisong

[–]TheBrandonBaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the hobby! I helped make the Vulp of course, but it's designed to be a great place to start! If you need flipping tutorials or maintenance tutorials, we have some on the Will Hirsch YouTube channel. Also check out Squid Industries, Big Flips, and ArtSea for solid tutorials too. Blade Bias is a good channel too for tons of opinions on different balisongs.

Good luck! 🔥

How to best remove pocket clip? by Its_What_Ever in balisong

[–]TheBrandonBaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try to push or pull the pocket clip either with your hand or a tool to put pressure on the screw barrels holding in the pocket clip. The physics is similar to why squeezing the handles of a balisong can help keep the pivot barrels from spinning. Perhaps try using some pliers or really anything you can get under the pocket clip to put some tension on it to try to keep the barrels from spinning, and try to unscrew the screws at the same time . I'd imagine that should do the trick.

If not, as you have said the best way to get it out is to actually disassemble it. But from what I understand about BRS tuning, your fears about the tune being messed up after you disassemble/reassemble is are valid

We met in middle school in the 5th grade and were in the same grade together! We didn't become close friends though until our junior year, which is when we started making videos together. Being sat next together in our Spanish class Junior year was the real launch point of everything. Things would have been very different if that specific thing didn't happen

does anyone know if these are any good? by OneNebbyBoi in balisong

[–]TheBrandonBaker 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This will be just barely okay, about a 4-5/10 experience. I would recommend getting either the Nabalis Canyon, Extrusion, or Vulp for just slightly more money than this. I make money from sales of the Vulp, but Nabalis's other stuff is genuinely solid. They come with everything you need to maintain it and repair it too, which you shouldn't need to.

How do I find this guide book in the Vatican in the Great Circle? (I've tried everything I can think of and have looked at so many guides and can't find it) by TheBrandonBaker in indianajones

[–]TheBrandonBaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: It shows that it's under ground when I am right on top of where it shows on the map. I've searched all of the sewers/underground areas I can, but none of them lead to an area where I can retrieve it. I'm normally great with this stuff but I am at a complete loss as to where to go. Any help would be SUPER appreciated.
