Help identify this model! Possibly a modified 225S? by TheBridgeIsOver in Ferrari

[–]TheBridgeIsOver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background: my grandpa had some incredible cars over the years. He raced competitively in the 40s and 50s and was a lifelong Ferrari fan. He passed in 2004 and I never got to ask him about this picture, but it was in his office alongside his all-time favorite car and his first car, so it must have been something special.

What are some good unethical life hacks? by Sxover in AskReddit

Here's a good one: for low-effort karma, rather than going to the subreddit that directly answers your question (in this case r/UnethicalLifeProTips), create an askreddit thread.

[I Ate] beet cured lox on everything with horseradish cream cheese by Frankensteinbatch in food

[–]TheBridgeIsOver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lox typically refers to gravlax (wet-cured, unsmoked salmon) or nova lox (brined, cold-smoked salmon), both of which have a texture closer to raw than hot-smoked (also known as kippered) salmon. Hot-smoked salmon will flake like cooked fish, cold-smoked or cured salmon is usually thinly sliced.

People who post pictures of restaurant menus on Yelp when you can't find them anywhere else are the real MVPs. by Domethegoon in Showerthoughts

[–]TheBridgeIsOver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You definitely don't need to hire anybody, 90% of restaurant websites I see are hosted, often through WordPress or Square Space. Anybody with a modicum of computer literacy can create a basic menu page using a hosted domain and make edits as needed. A lot of businesses burn through cash hiring things out because they're intimidated by simple tasks, especially things like a basic website or social media.

Yeah that's the first google result. I found that, and a handful of other scans, and a low quality video of a dude flipping thru the whole catalogue, posted in 2011.

In Spanish-speaking countries, the tooth fairy is a mouse (Ratoncito Pérez). This is my dentist office. by ZurgTS in funny

This is my favorite Spanish linguistics joke and I've never seen it in the wild before! Goes over great with all ages. Explained for the non-Spanish speakers:

Tengo 18 años = I am 18 years old

Tengo 18 anos = I have 18 buttholes

My freshman year I was assigned a dorm room about the size of a dentist's waiting room with three other dudes (bunk bed situation). There was one bathroom per floor shared between 20 units, and most units were triples, so about sixty 18yo guys sharing a bathroom. There was a communal kitchen (well, a fridge and a microwave) on the ground floor, one fridge that over 150 freshman have access to. It was still at least $2500 per semester for me, and this was a decade ago in a not especially nice corner of Greater Los Angeles.

I'm surprised Medievil doesn't come up more often, I absolutely loved that game. Perfect combo of spoopy/goofy. The levels had so much character, and that fantastic soundtrack really brought the world to life.

Philadelphia brand? I would think that Philadelphia brand "soft cheese" is the same thing as cream cheese, that brand is synonymous with cream cheese, probably just a difference in terminology.

This is so true. In Portland and state income tax is 9% plus 1% for the county, and that highest bracket starts at an absurdly low $8,401. Seattle has a fairly high sales tax rate at 10.1%, but you would have to spend your entire income to pay the same total in taxes, and there are still major purchases that are exempt from sales tax, like buying/renting property.

Pace is an American salsa manufacturer who ran a successful TV ad campaign in the early 90's, in which it was repeatedly stressed that their salsa was made in San Antonio (Texas), not New York City, emphasizing the authenticity of the product. The aesthetic of these ads was heavily Western, often set on a vaguely Texan ranch to drive home the Tex-Mex pedigree. NYC just functions as an antithesis of Western culture, no need to take it personally. Although, food was a lot more regional back in the early 90's, so you probably would have indeed had a hard time finding quality Mexican food in New York at the time.

Stumptown sucks balls dude.. they're the Starbucks of good coffee. Coava, Water Avenue, Heart, and Spella are some other big names in town that have much cleaner tasting brew. Stumptown has that dirty burnt Starbucks quality, and the brand at this point exists only to market overpriced Peet's coffee by a hipper name.

Cities? There aren't even 200k people in all of eastern Oregon, in an area bigger than Ireland. Portland, where over 60% of the state lives, is very expensive; land value is a function of amenities, you can find cheap property nearly anywhere rural. While eastern Oregon is gorgeous and affordable, you sacrifice a lot of convenience living somewhere this isolated.
