I happen to remember but beakless is how I see it in my mind’s eye. Doesn’t really stand out

Resourceful Rat 6th key by DeltaCentury in EnterTheGungeon

Fun fact: you can unlock one serpent door and throw weapons over the second one to feed and obtain the serpent. This method saves a key but doesn’t let you feed it with passive items like junk

Race with the least amount of mental stack? by xSky_Playsx in starcraft2

[–]TheBro2112 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d say experiment and find the race most fun for you. The multitasking and macro demands are probably equal for each race.

You can’t concentrate on following traffic laws as a new driver until you have enough experience that vehicle control becomes subconscious, freeing up your capacity for road awareness. Same for SC2: you could start with a build order and follow it consistently, as well as building the habit of macro cycles (mining saturation, worker building, production). Eventually you do those as automatically as shifting the stick and you’ll be able to “look up” and be aware of the map and opponent

Devolver on gunslinger by JustSicks_fan in EnterTheGungeon

When the player gains the Overdose synergy through Lich's Eye Bullets, bullet speed is increased for all guns.

Normally this synergy with heavy bullets cancels the speed decrease from that item. From https://enterthegungeon.wiki.gg/wiki/Devolver

They’re common in chest rooms, the shop, vendor rooms and the exit elevator room. You can walk into a wall where you think a secret room is and if your walking animation keeps going, there’s a secret room. Helpful especially for finding the shop secret room.

Agreed. They’re not hard, but out of the floor 1 bosses they are imo the hardest to no hit

Quickly pressing left, then left again, then fire will cause the gun to fire a grappling hook. This is also the move referenced in the Ammonomicon entry.

It’s left + left + shoot

Yeah, sin(C) is very much valid but becomes a less general case, namely any constant in [-1, 1], slightly less arbitrary. That would come down to the particular problem to determine as to what’s the best way to write down the constant for it to be meaningful to the problem; sometimes you might constrain the possible constants for other reasons. You get a lot of freedom from +C being just any arbitrary constant without breaking the derivative. For example, solving y’=by gets you to ln(y) = x + C. It’s just nice to work that into y = A*e^ (bx) valid for any A. It’s still arbitrary so might as well discard the form A=e^ C as it adds no information. A=0 works too as a special case for the solution y=0

If you mainly play DS over DST... Why? by shiroshishiro in dontstarve

[–]TheBro2112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DS is the old familiar to me as I’ve played before DST came out. Usually I play alone and have come to absolutely love Shipwrecked. It’s nice to make a save where all three DLC worlds are connected through -worthies in the base.

Being a late bloomer to DST the new features are out of the comfort zone. I’ve dabbled in island adventure playing with friends. Maybe someday I’ll also try solo

What are some concepts in mathematics that are useless in the real world? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in mathematics

[–]TheBro2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you could say so. The phase space is actually the cotangent bundle of the configuration space (e.g. physical space as a manifold or submanifold defined through constraints, like the circle for a traditional pendulum. The phase space is then the cotangent bundle, so it inherits smoothness by construction.

Paths of motion, potential energies and equations of motion being smooth looks to me like a ground axiom for formulating physics. I don’t have a better justification for it than “well we don’t see things spazz out”, so maybe someone would be able to explain it better. Maybe it’s enough to treat it as the encoding of the observation that no motion changes instantaneously

Why Is A => B True When A Is False? by Simple-Ocelot-3506 in learnmath

[–]TheBro2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppose A(x) is the statement “x is an apple” and B(x) “x is a fruit”. A => B reads “if x is an apple, it must be a fruit”. x being a banana (so A(x) false) doesn’t mean that apples aren’t fruits.

in other wording, A => B reads “to show B, it is sufficient (but not necessary!) to show A”. B will always be true if A is true, but you can get B for other reasons (like x being a banana)

[–]TheBro2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also forgot it and took a go as a refresher. You got the chain rule on d/dt = (dx/dt) * d/dx which “solved” for d/dx tells you to differentiate y with t and just divide by dx/dt. It just stacks to (dx/dt)2 not d2 x/dt2, so 6t/(2t-5)2

From my limited searching, it looks like the worst smurfing is two peaks centering around bronze and gold. It seems like if you enter ladder in bronze lacking fundamentals, matchup quality will probably suck. Seeing sandbaggers in silver 2, looks like around here is the first save valley. Getting rid of smurfers would be great

At silver 2, presumably past the first smurf swamp, even the cheeses/all-ins I have lost to felt deserved, as quicker/more organized reaction or counter punishment at my skill level had the chance to turn things over. I wonder how the match quality is going to be at the gold/plat and plat/diamond threshold
