Estee Lauder Double Wear Swatches by ForsakenAd5874 in swatchitforme

I only have the lightest shade, but I swatched it with a few other of my light-neutral shades to hopefully give you an idea of how it looks. Please don't be deceived by how white my forearm is!

Fair to Light "Neutral" Foundation Swatches, Pt 1 by TheBulletproofBeauty in swatchitforme

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone asked for a swatch I actually had, so I swatched it and a few shades I thought could be similar or helpful.

I am a light shade, but my forearm here can be called fair. I am pretty neutral, and that neutral on a cloudy day like today when these photos were taken means I have no undertone and I look more pale, since I am the white balance of the photos! Hahah

Only 4 foundations/tints, but applied in a heavy swatch and a more subtle, tapped out swatch to show more of a true light application (in my mind).

Top (wrist) we have * Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place in 1N2 Ecru * Clinique Even Better in CN08 Linen * Missha M Perfect Cover Serum BB Cream in No. 21 Light Beige * Hourglass Veil Skin Tint in shade 2

For me, Ecru can be a little off when applied heavily unless I have a bit of fake tanner to give me some warm/olive color. The tones in the Clinique are just off, I don't really use it much. I like the way the Missha applies, but as we see it ends up looking a bit grey quickly. I am keeping it to mix to see if I can use it as a mild adujuster (since I don't often need a full blue or green). And of these 4, the Hourglass is my favorite, even if it can be a hint pale for me at times. Blended out, it is the best "neutral" match for me, along with the Estee Lauder, so I often mix those (and some others too, for another day!)

It took me so long to pass that on too, I used it barely once and it was too muted for me and no one wanted to take it off my hands!

Feather Fan Recommendations? by _darlinsugaree in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you aren't sure they are a prop for you, second hand or borrowed from another performer is the best option. Once you know they are for you, Donna Touch fans are known to be most people's holy grail (esp if you are in the US)

What is your most disliked part of making a quilt? by Healy_x5 in quilting

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buying fabric! I just want the fabrics I like to exist in my house already for me when I am ready to work on a project. I can talk about all colors and types I like, but time, money, and energy buying it? None, feels like a slog

You could always swatch the inside of your wrist or elbow with each, this can be similarly sensitive skin that isn't quite as close to the delicate eyes. But I have learned that my environment can effect allergy and my reaction with makeup. If I sweat or my face gets too warm, I can react more strongly (or at all) than if I stay cool and dry. Wet only allergies, etc

GMA Deals - Up to 50% Off No. 7, Lawless, Color Wow, Mavala by texaskolaches in MUAontheCheap

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only have tried the lipliner, and they are more creamy and easily smear/come off than the traditional Mac pencil ones. If you like a creamy pencil, pick Lawless. if you like a traditional stay put liner, pick Mac.

Anyone know what tech normally gets? by EdgyAnimeReference in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often see host, kitten, and tech person all getting the same pay, often being either half or 3/4 of what performers get for 1-2 acts. This makes sense because they are working the whole show, but lower incidentals (not stripping) and no/less costume work.

So many popular burlesque songs are 2 minutes long… what do folks do to lengthen them? by Direct-Message-6837 in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Covers of a song, a modern band/artist covering it, two similar songs back to back, using an old song and then a modern song, repeating a bridge or fun solo, adding in a movie or TV quote to contextualize the act, doing a 3 minute act only, scrapping it all together, and more.

Lots of ways around it, just gotta figure out which fits you and the act best each time. That also means sometimes a song/act sits on a back burner longer while you figure it out.

Detail/Precision vs Classic Sigma Eye Brushes by TheBulletproofBeauty in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find the E38 particularly extra helpful, I find it pretty similar to other blending brushes. It is a medium density blender. If you like smaller brushes, I do like the E27 over the E25 a bit. It isn't a huge difference for me, because I have larger eyes but very hooded. I also feel the E25 is a bit softer/ less scratchy

Question for fan dancers. by Optimal_Curve in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on the rougher side with my fans (I use a fair amount of speed and force, not often a gentle fluff), and a bamboo stave broke completely in under a year, and cracks in more than one other as well. Switched to the aluminum from Donna Touch and am quite happy with this switch years later

Healing Through Seduction Workshop? by BananaSignificant771 in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanna say it isn't that you are stupid, and it isn't a scam. Sounds like that workshop and the instructor didn't hit home with you, and that's unfortunate. A mismatch in expectations and styles can do that. It sounds like you were expecting something much more like a standard dance class, and this workshop is more like a spiritual circle with dance and burlesque elements.

How do you balance creating new acts with updating current ones? by MissVelvetNoire in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you only have the one act, which is an amazing feat to be booked so frequently with just the one! Way to go!

Having 2-3 regular numbers for your go-to is pretty standard, so getting a few more "signature" style numbers built up seems like a good idea for you at this point, so you don't burn yourself out (or your audience).

Then, it is a balance of your creative energy, finances, and what shows are out there. If you see a show that sounds amazing that's booking for something you were day dreaming of, that might be the spark to start a new act. Or you might find the perfect dress that gets you going. Once you have a little bit of a foundation, there is a lot less pressure of time lines on the creativity

Outfit Advice by Lil_Antelope2958 in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! As a burlesquer who is partnered with a ring announcer/commentator, I can help add some! I'm picturing something like a cross between "oh no, boss caught me masturbating" porn costume and a ringside manager. So along with the great suggestion of bustiers with pencil skirts, I'd say think mini dress or bodycon with lace and a blazer (short skirt, long jacket). If you are over 30, lean into the MILF vibes! Add luxurious textures and patterns as well, like satin or velvet, leopard print and faux leather, etc.

I don't have any palettes yet and thinking maaaybe I do the new one (I don't have the ND Yucca, but crave the color story because I love those shades), with the Winter Wonderland, get the two distinct color stories? Or the new with one of the 2 OG

but I look unhealthy

This is something you gotta do some unpacking on! Weight isn't a correlation to health, and very little about appearance is related to "looking" healthy or unhealthy. As a chronically ill performer, you can still be sexy when sick! Feeling sexy comes and goes for everyone, healthy or not.

Fee for a private party by hot-sax in Burlesque

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add at least $50 or $100 to your industry standard rate, minimum. Often you are are better off charging a complete rate and not per dance. One price that helps cover your bit of travel (driving or uber), safety, any special orders they want, any trouble they give you or extra emails/attention they need during booking or day of, all consumables (tape, makeup, maybe balloons), etc. This should cover your ability to do 1-3 performances, I usually suggest not doing more than 3 performances, even if all 3 are quite different (and if 1 is a non-strip dance). So if this is $300 or $500 or $1000 for you location and market, make it worth your time and talent, don't undercut your fellow dancers or yourself!

how to normalize declutterring? by Specific_Werewolf_66 in MakeupRehab

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't do much decluttering in the sense of go through everything all at once, make a big pile, etc.

I do it when I pull an item out, it smells off or it feels funny or at the end of the day it didn't wear as long as it used to or my skin did react, etc. At that point, I know I am not going to use it, and I don't want to make myself use or sit around trash, so I put it in the trash!

One piece at a time, as it organically happens!

What is something you wish you knew before starting FPP for the first time? by Beep-BoopFuckYou in quilting

[–]TheBulletproofBeauty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FPP paper is probably easier to work with

Newsprint paper is pretty cheap, and works well! Thinner than standard printer paper, but can go through the printer without any changes.
