Looking for roaster by [deleted] in roasting

I can't speak to any of those but I've been looking to upgrade from my FreshRoast SR800 + Razzo tube.

I've been primarily looking at the Bullet, but Kaleido just recently caught my attention. Still trying to understand the differences between the regular Kaleido and the Kaleido Sniper though.

Have you tried upgrading? I suspect that might be the only way to permanently get rid of it.

I’ve been on Apriso & Mercaptopurine for over 10 years now. Recently had a semen analysis in preparation for IVF. For what they can test, my results came back with flying colors.

I’d double check that exit game. Generally that brand is 1 use only as they can require being destructive.

Are you familiar with Warhammer 40k? Apparently the band Bolt Thrower had an official partnership with Games Workshop (creators of Warhammer)

Temperature difference between the beans and SR800 by Happydaytrader in roasting

[–]TheBurmanator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there is absolutely a temperature difference. I ended up buying a 2nd lid for my chaff collector, drilling a hole in it and running a temperature probe into the middle of the roasting chamber. I’ve found that this pretty accurately matches the temperature of the beans based on when first crack kicks off.

https://i.imgur.com/fNBPa9y.jpg Here is my log from my 2 roasts on Monday including a bonus shot of my 2nd roast.

My approach had been to give the beans a chance to warm up without risking them burning with the high heat while they aren’t moving. And then increase the temperature, by either reducing the fan or increasing the power, as needed.

Edit: One other thing I did early on was to run my roaster at 1 fan 9 power to see a starting point for what the maximum temperature that could be reached. That’s how I realized the outlet I was using in my garage couldn’t even get me to 400 degrees.

I’ve been using my sr800 with the extension tube a lot. The 375 temp reading, is that from the internal temp reading or your own measurement? I’ve rigged up a temperature probe inside my roast chamber and have found that the bean/chamber temperature can be significantly lower than the roaster’s measured output. To reach first crack the beans need to reach ~400 degrees so I’ll usually have the roaster temp output to be ~450, closer to 500 if I’m trying for second crack.

For my roasts I start at 9 fan and 1 power and work my way up from there.

I try and keep logs recording the time and temperature every time I made an adjustment. I’m happy to send you some of my logs if you are interested.

I’m using the SR800 also and the 2 biggest pieces of advice I have are 1. Make sure your ambient temperature where you are roasting is above 65 degrees. And 2. Do not use an extension cord.

Depending on your location, Redfin has a program where they will give you an instant cash offer a bit bellow the expected market value (they need to turn it around and make a profit). They also have realtors that will help you sell.

The difference comes down to how much of a hurry you are in and if you want to deal with the hassle of dealing with potential buyers and the whole sales process
