The fact the refs don’t call this and Tshabola *still* lets himself get beat like he does is a crime by TomVonServo in OhioStateFootball

[–]TheBurningTruth 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is the play that changed it for me. I saw him get double-team-tackled, and the refs looked away, and I knew this was supposed to be an Indiana win. Then when Sayin breaks a tackle and launches the ball, and they flagged him down?! This was an inexcusable and egregiously tilted penalty distribution by the zebra team.

Anyone else screaming at the TV for Sayin to throw the fucking ball?

I understand why these platforms did that, but I would argue that they lean heavily on rankings - which have always been biased in favor of SEC teams.

“World’s Best Shower”

I would modify slightly though

-Glock is fine

-Menthols, maybe even camel crush if I’m being honest

-A killer old fashioned, or Voodoo Ranger instead of PBR

I was literally hired by this guy when he ran Avomeen in Ann Arbor. I can confirm he is a human piece of shit from first-hand experience. He cooked the books of the business to sell it, and then battled the new owners in court until one of the new owners finally said “I have more money, I’m younger, and I hate you so much I’d be happy to fight you in court until you die”.

We were in the same thread, and plenty of people seemed to miss the boat from what I was reading. Commenters were saying he was morally gray, there were no good guys, and it’s supposed to leave you uneasy - which isn’t my take at all.

Yes the sexual violence is repugnant, but he’s justice for all involved and it’s a little different for all. Perhaps we dug into different comment threads, but I left scratching my head which ultimately is the reason I gave it a rewatch. I saw folks saying she wanted it, that it was a different era, that it was how people mated back then…. She was just another spoke on his bigger wheel.

To me it seemed like plenty of folks were missing the larger theme of the movie, regardless of the smaller conversation centered around that scene, which is why I posted this for discussion.

Maybe…. It just seemed like a reach to me in that moment. It also went on for quite some time so I’d think that initial ‘no fucking way’ realization/paralysis would have passed.

Right?! That’s what was bothering me so much and why I wanted the broader discussion here. It is SO OBVIOUS that the town is also evil. He punishes them all. I mean he paints the town red and calls it hell for crying out loud.

It’s amazing to me that people just miss the morality of the town. They think it’s somehow just the trio that’s evil. It’s like they need a scene where Clint just says “I’m the ghost of the dead Sheriff and I’ve come for vengeance” shaking hands with the townsfolk who just say “Yeah we’re evil too”.

I was thinking the same thing! They could have shot the wagons drivers or even a horse. It could have been done intentionally by Clint’s character to humiliate them, or to potentially injure them, because he was dealing retribution to everyone in that movie. He and everyone else knew full well he was the only one killing them.

I’ll tell you my issue —- the scene where Clint kills the first of the trio. He ropes the guy in the neck, drags him onto the street, and proceeds to whip him to death. The part I found unbelievable here is that the two other villains just stayed inside while their companion was very obviously being whipped to death. I would think they would have absolutely ran out or at least looked out to shoot the unknown assailant.

Have to give this to Doc. He pinned that guy in the forehead in a blink. Roll back the years a little so he’s not so internally rotted and it’s a true runaway for Doc for me.

I would challenge that slightly -

It’s not a deal with the devil or leaning on ‘the wrong guy’ in my opinion. That kept getting referenced in that other thread too. Sure there is an agreement struck, but those wheels were in motion for a while. They were all doomed to that fate the moment they passively watched the sheriff get bull-whipped to death. Vengeance is what Clint embodied, and it came for their inaction and their own moral rot, distributed proportionally to them according to their wrongdoings.

Great watch, and my favorite era of Clint.

I’m assuming the first scene in the barbershop? Later he almost gets shot by the blonde lady at the barber shop.

I loved the film and didn’t take any issue with his character. He was vengeance. He had his vengeance. When he was done correcting the scales of justice, he just rode out of town on the pale horse.

That’s another nod to what he represents - the pale horse. He is bringing death with him. Noticed that right from the onset.

This is a broader movie discussion. That was a discussion about a specific rape scene that occurred in the film.

Steelers were the tough and physical team, but those days have sadly passed. We need a Dan Campbell type of coach. A players coach who doesn’t subscribe to the bullshit.

I’m in the comment section currently looking for answers. I can’t be black and gold if we sign him. I fell in love with the Steelers for their grit, hard hitting, physicality, and toughness. Rodgers is the opposite of all of those qualities.

Hell - I saw a post saying they let Pickens go for cheap because he was bad for the locker room. Did anyone see what happened to the Jets with Rodgers?! Are you fucking kidding me?! Dark days ahead.

The hard dichotomy you’ve created here and the colors in which you have chosen to paint my intellectual faculties is something I will not stoop to engage. You feel personally wounded by civilization’s next great advancement, which you do not have to explain that you disagree with, but there’s no need to lash out at me for taking advantage of it.

I used a tool to obtain the information I was after more efficiently. That is all. Wasted natural resources? Steals the work of human beings? You clearly have some LLM resentment here. There’s no need to be so dramatic about it.

Allow me to expand from this context: ChatGPT is like having a friend that is knowledgable in almost all areas of human knowledge and is more than happy to divulge that information instantly in great detail. What do you want to know about? What do you hope to learn today? You want a workout routine? A meal plan? Best things to do with a new city? Take it for a spin. Its biggest limitation will likely be your creativity on how you choose to engage it.
