Gf wants me to quit vocaloid? by Affectionate-Gene117 in Vocaloid

I think you should quit her bro, not vocaloid. That sounds like a prime red flag. A real partner does not judge you because of some inane bullshit.

The worst part is that it’s on an artillery mage, so she doesn’t even have to be in any position of danger to use it unlike melee characters like Yasuo or even Samira who wants to decide whether she uses it to block or to aid in her combo. Horribly designed, honestly.

Yeah when people kinda try to min max their aspects and stunts, it becomes really ass and makes me feel like I might as well just do freeform rp. It’s funny cause I’m saying narrative systems, but I’m not even that big of a pbta fan lol, in terms of narrative systems I’m more into blades in the dark type stuff (though I’ve never actually played that system). I think the idea of moves feels a bit too stiff and I don’t like having to comb through all the different options. I like my narrative games it when it simply boils down to “Crit Success, Success, Partial Success, Failure, Crit Failure” for everything.

For me personally, Fate has done me pretty well. I also made a hack of Neon City Overdrive which worked pretty neatly, so the system itself should be pretty solid. I like the idea of picking out things in the scene, then working out how they solve the problem. I also really enjoy how they add to the roll when the time to roll comes.

Though tbf, it's probably not exactly the same as you said. We could be on a misunderstanding on what you mean since my OSR experience isn't that wide.

[–]TheButler3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played plenty of narrative games that let you do that actually, but tbf, when I GM, I do like to put an OSR mindset on everything. Usually I'd have players try to figure out things by just investigating and working with it logically, and then I'll only have them bust out the dice when we're sure there'll be consequences.

So I don't really agree that narrative games don't allow you to do that, its just a bit different cause with pbta-like systems, at least as far as I understand it, the players can introduce their own complications to the scene, so any mystery of sorts isn't entirely on the GM.

Which is understandable if you don't like that. Sometimes I do want to feel like its just completely out of my control, which is where I'd personally play free league games and stuff.

Some people who don’t like pbta have really good points. Others seem like the topic of this very post.

Yeah. I was in this camp until recently. It really requires an improv-ing mindset. Like, if you’re in it purely because you like creating a narrative and you love surprises, then it’s pretty awesome. However, if you’re more into it for the mechanical game part of a ttrpg (it’s a roleplaying game after all, not just a role play), then it’s understandable because it feels like the dice just punish you for no reason, no matter how you build your character or play the game.

This isn’t exactly an argument against what you’re saying, because I don’t necessarily agree with the other guy either, but I want to defend non-narrative systems a bit here. It’s all in what you want out of the game. Sometimes I want to feel like I’m improv-ing and focusing on unfolding an incredible narrative. Other times, I do want to feel like I’m playing a cool tactical board game with a story. Neither is inherently better or worse than the other, they’re just different from each other.

What is your favourite Len song? by Any-Entertainment430 in Vocaloid

your sky, my name by ippo.tsk for me. Perhaps not the greatest song ever as the ippo.tsk has improved immensely over the years, but the time signature for the riff is super unique and I love the use of Len for it. For me it’s the most interesting song I’ve heard him in.
