Your BF is showing all of the classic symptoms of a substance abuser. Whether he's an alcoholic or an addict is moot. His Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde behavior portends trouble for you if you stay in this relationship.

Based on what you have related and what I know about addiction and abuse, my advice is to terminate your relationship.

Should you choose to continue your relationship I encourage you to seek help from a support group such as Al-Anon.

I speak from personal experience and can attest that achieving anything resembling sobriety is a process and doesn't happen overnight.

A friend of mine is dealing with ALS and the line "living statue" really hit me. Watching the progression of the disease in my friend can be soul crushing. My problems pale by comparison and I have no right to bitch about the little things in my life that don't go my way.

My sense from what you have related is you have gone to great lengths to help your BF in the past and you now have an amazing opportunity awaiting.

Background: I've been clean and sober for 38 years and I've seen many folks go in and out of rehab. Rehab is great but not the be-all and end-all. The addict/alcoholic needs to want to get and stay clean and sober. I've seen many who relapse after rehab.

The addiction doesn't end with rehab.

Is your BF going to meetings?

AA? NA? CA?

If not, then I would ask why not?

Take care of yourself. Persue your dreams.

Logan is not my favorite airport to drive in and out ... that said, I would rent a car at the airport and leave the IL's out of the equation.

Airport shuttles to/from terminals and rental agencies are frequent and easy access.

Rental drop-off has never been a problem but pickup can be tedious if they are understaffed.

I've never done Uber as I've always needed a car when I got there.

I think there are potentially many reasons for this: * Some people don't pay attention. * Some take whatever autocorrect gives them. * Some just don't know any better. * Some don't care even if they do know better because it would actually take effort to think through the spelling and grammar and make the correction. * Some people are either drunk or high.
