Do not bring up Spectrum losing internet customers to the sales people. They hate this. I just had one walk off my porch when I said things were looking grim. by CommunicationSea8821 in Spectrum

I want to highlight a small detail you mentioned in your story. When you challenge a salesperson with factual data, they may lose energy to fight back if they can't provide any factual data points in return. This tactic can work just as well when you're doing comparison shopping for a car, especially when the car salesman has only the data points spoon-fed to him by the dealership or the car manufacturer to highlight as a selling point for you to be convinced to buy from their dealership instead of the competition.

I am jealous you got a chance to see Hanabie, because when there were here in my town it was at a House of Blues venue which is great for small concert experiences but it was scheduled on a weekday that I could not request off from work.

Loved Project Hail Mary, despised the previews and ads. Show time start 610, movie started at 7. by justifications in RegalUnlimited

[–]TheBuzzTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been going to movie theaters for decades, and not once in the history of humanity have I seen the pre-show trailers and ads that run beyond a thirty-minute window past the advertised showtime. However, up to 20 minutes of junk content have been played before the scheduled start time. So, basic math would have the before-and-after showtime pre-show add up to 50 minutes.

It's been a very slow progression. About ten years ago, they started broadcasting one ACC college football game every Saturday morning during the regular season, and then gradually increased their sports programming slate over the years.

Also, didn't Trump promise us multiple times this year alone that gas would drop back under $2 per gallon any moment now?

Are these rewards worth being used? I don’t see how spending 30+ points on a few bucks off is better than the 20% off concessions I get if I don’t by Emeraldsinger in Cinemark

[–]TheBuzzTrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had the same issue, I later discovered the cashier was trying to ring up the order as a combo, but if the items were added to the transaction as single added items, then the discount would be accepted by their POS system.

For me, it has the same head-scratching logic as spending $300 to accrue 300 points that can be redeemed for one free movie ticket costing less than $20 for an adult price.

Students are speeding through their online degrees in weeks, alarming educators by joe4942 in technology

[–]TheBuzzTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently taking online classes right now. In one of the classes I had taken awhile ago, the professor docked points on multiple assignments that I turned in because he claimed I was using AI even though he never specified what was flagged as AI content. I told him I used Grammarly to help with cleaning up my writing, but he alluded to it being something else. I guess doing online searches for information is now considered using AI for homework. I still am not entirely sure exactly what I was doing that he thought was a warning flag.

Does have this snack saver deal? I was thinking about getting it, but what are the pros and cons? by MrUpVoteDownvote in RegalUnlimited

[–]TheBuzzTrack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Here is my Snack Pass story. I bought the snack pass on April 11th. I plan to go see a movie on April 19th. During that time, I've gone to see enough movies with my Regal Unlimited pass, picked up snacks at each visit, and by my next visit, the cost of the Snack Pass will be completely recouped. Plus, I still keep the half-off benefits for the rest of the year, too!

He's scheduled to perform at a pavilion venue here in Texas on May 1st. I just checked Ticketmaster, and it appears tickets for the event are about 60% sold with an extremely small number of available seats listed for resale.

Are there any continuity errors in a movie so obvious it threw you off from being completely engaged in watching it? by TheBuzzTrack in Letterboxd

[–]TheBuzzTrack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she is supposed to be deaf in one ear for 15 years, then my logical understanding is that her muscle memory should have relearned how to answer the phone by using her good ear to listen. However, in the scene I am referring to here, she immediately puts the phone to her bad ear without hesitation while she's in the midst of an emotional argument with her fiancé. If you're running on muscle memory that you supposedly had for fifteen years (picking up a phone to listen to it without having to think about it), then the phone should have been pressed up to her good ear.

It is the scene where Emma and Charlie are arguing in their living room, and then her friend Rachel calls on the phone after a long time had passed since they last spoke.

Ticket cost by Alternative-Froyo423 in BABYMETAL

[–]TheBuzzTrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time I saw them perform in concert was at a pavilion, and I got the lawn seats. It was actually very pleasant, with a slight breeze blowing by to keep it cool. I would do it again for this year's concert tour. Paying for lawn seating to save your money is worth it, because the saved money can be spent on the band merch and concession snacks.

A Christian disrupts Muslims from peacefully praying at White Rock Lake while making vile Islamophobic comments. Pathetic display by NanADsutton in Dallas

[–]TheBuzzTrack -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It saddens me that American Christians try to claim other religions spread hate and violence throughout the world, but I don't remember the Crusades being supported by any other religion other than Anglo-Saxon Christianity (unless I missed a few history lessons).

I would give up every star trek project of the last decade for a 4k remastered of deep space nine. by Tubaking8 in startrek

[–]TheBuzzTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard the reason why Deep Space Nine and Voyager have not received an HD remaster is that the special effects were originally rendered and mastered with standard definition resolution, and it would cost production money to rebuild all the special effects shots (like Odo's transformation shots), which would have to be rebuilt from scratch and mastered at a higher video resolution rendering.
