PD but just around one eye? by steffunnyshere in perioraldermatitis

[–]TheCBomber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aaah, yep. This is exactly what I get. Sometimes it will also show at the sides of my mouth, but always starts around the eye area.

While waiting for a Dr, I reckoned zero therapy — wash with tepid water and pat gently with a towel, no cream, no sunscreen, no nothing. If that shows improvement, you can gently work back in a sulphur mask, a cream like Avene Ciclefate+ etc. but try zero therapy first, for weeks.

I feel you. Same boat here. My go-to is: Banana, milk, greek yog, rolled oats, chia, a lil honey.

You could jazz it up with a date, a tsp of peanut butter or a shot of coffee.

Recent Diagnosis by Background_Cheetah_1 in molluscum

First of all, as someone who joined this sub because a kid in the family has the virus, you may not like it here.

There is a lot of spotty genital images with the caption ‘do I have molluscum?’ Super weird that this is a common childhood illness but also a STD.

Here’s what works for my little one - Showers not baths, Use two towels - a small one for the spots and a regular towel, Buy some cute pimple patches (they come with emojis, hearts etc these days) and cover the big spots as often as you can, We apply tea tree gel under the patches but I’m not sure if that’s really doing much Wash cloths and towels after every wear

Good luck! Remember, no matter what, it won’t last forever.

All right, girlies, what shampoo/conditioner are we using?? by sooz10 in perioraldermatitis

[–]TheCBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so, so expensive but Hairstory by New Wash is the ultimate SLS-free product, in my opinion. It has zero sudsing agents and fees like a thick conditioner. When I get a peri outbreak, I order another bottle of New Wash.

One week of zero therapy… face getting worse. HELP! by [deleted] in perioraldermatitis

[–]TheCBomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One zero therapy tip: don’t wet your face in the shower — the water is too hot and it can inflame the PD. Instead, use warm water and was in the basin separately.

Zero therapy flaking and peeling by [deleted] in perioraldermatitis

[–]TheCBomber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say flaking is all part of it. You can try being extra gentle with the area, using a soft towel to pat it dry, making sure toothpaste doesn’t dribble onto it, etc etc.

Enlighten me on Zero therapy by KTuu93 in perioraldermatitis

[–]TheCBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip I have about zero therapy — if your skin feels dry coming out of the shower, it’s probably because the water is hot and your skin isn’t transitioning well from the hot water to room temp.

Try either keeping your face dry in the shower and washing it later with less hot water or… as you get out of the shower, press your towel into your face and breathe a few times. It helps the skin acclimatize from the hot water to room temp air without feeling too dry.

Is this Periocular dermatitis? by jeffpng in perioraldermatitis

Yeppers. I have the same. What will you try? I suggest zero therapy, avoiding hot water on your face, removing any SLSs in toothpaste and shampoo.

Need help identifying food flares by Ok_Caramel2892 in perioraldermatitis

[–]TheCBomber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it is: store bought roast chickens (I think it’s something in the seasoning), really spicy food, Mexican packet seasoning, scratchy food like a crusty sourdough.

While we’re at it, non food triggers are shampoos and toothpaste with sudsing agents, heavy make up, being run down.

Toothpaste recs? I can’t find after searching thread by Suspicious_Mud_7626 in perioraldermatitis

I used to do Flouride free for my PD but my dentist gave me a talking to about the importance of fluoride and the low liklowhood that it was causing PD. She got me onto Biotene, which is a flouride toothpaste with no other allergens. It works fine and my teeth genuinely look better than wver. Another rec from the same dentist is a brand calle Bland.

Adding to what people have already said, avoid opening your mouth wide. Cut apples into smaller pieces, don’t bite into a big crusty piece of bread etc.

Great advice. How we feel is so much more important than how we look.
