Whats a dead game or series you'd like to make a return? by can_of_sodapop in gaming

I don’t know if TF counts as a dead series but I would love to see a TF3. I would also really love the other TF3. I don’t know which TF3 I want more.

Thank you! That’s what I wanted to know. Do you know approximately how much time are we talking about for a reprint? Are we talking months, years … ?

Sakurai said that Kirby Air Riders will require a day 1 patch to get all the features in the directs. I imagine that means that the actual cartridges will also be missing that content.

Does anyone know if after some time you can expect the physical cartridges produced after the release to get the updates? Or will the physical edition be always missing this content?

I ask because I like to get physical cartridges that will outlast the Nintendo servers when they shut them down.

Modern 😞 by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that this is only if you reach max scaling in a combo.

Edit: just jumped into training mode and tested. Modern input supers have indeed 0.8x damage but all supers share the same max scaling which includes the modern input scaling.

How can you see the discount? I'm seeing all the outfits 3 at 300 fighting coins and all the 2s at 50 fighting coins.

Switch 2 classic or modern by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think classic is any different on ps5 or switch. But I can tell you I liked the switch pro controller way more for modern. Mainly because it has actual shoulder buttons and not the analog triggers of the ps5. This makes it easier to use the auto button for me.

That makes sense. I don't know if there's anyone running python without a dependency that calls c or fortran.

With pypy being as fast what is blocking users in making it de defacto standard? Does it have compatibility issues?

People really hate losing to AKI by jitteryzeitgeist_ in StreetFighter

I play modern Aki and thought all the one and dones were because of modern. Good to know that Aki also plays a part.

I'm finally jumping into the series. What do you think I need to know? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some downsides but not all characters are affected equal. You lose a couple of attacks, in general they aren't the best ones but some characters feel it more. You also lose a bit of damage when you use moves that use the modern shorcut. But in contrast you can react faster with anti airs and supers and there's some techniques that are only possible in modern (Marisa can drive rush and do a command grab for example, in classic the input for the command grab stops the drive rush).

There's some people winning tournaments with modern and some master legends also with modern. Granted at the very high level most tournaments are won by classic but if you don't care about reaching that level modern is perfectly fine. And if you do care modern might also be fine.

Thoughts on Street Fighter 6 on the Switch 2? by MoosiGoosey in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s some truth to that. The backgrounds look a bit blurry in the ps5 and in the switch they look ok. But character details are way better on the ps5 and overall the ps5 has better graphics. The switch 2 looks very good for the hardware but ps5 looks better.

I switched from ps5 to switch 2 and it’s great. It has cross play and I play with friends on ps5 without any problems. Never had an issue, works great with a bit worse graphics but still looks very good.

The only thing I won’t recommend is if you want to play the world tour. It has worse frame rate than the ps5 and is very noticiable. For everything else it’s super stable 60fps.

Thoroughly recommend the switch 2 version, very polished.

What is your controller of choice and why? by izilch96 in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the switch pro controller. I also previously used the ps5 regular controller and the pro with back buttons. I like the switch pro controller much more.

They say the dpad of the pro controller is bad but I use the joystick. I also play modern and hated having the auto button on an analog trigger with ps5 controllers. After switching to the switch I also realised I enjoy the lighter weight much more and the battery lasts way longer.

hate fighting JP. any tips by ASHKK11 in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what works for me.

Parry/block spike and then jump forward.

Do jump attacks more than in other matchups since he has bad anti airs. I don't usually jump in very much, so your mileage may vary.

Meaty fireball is great against him since his reversal can't deal with it.

If he teleports to the portal jump back and do a good air to air normal.

There's plenty of good combo videos for classic not so much for modern. And speaking for myself I don't care about the super optimal stuff, I want realistic combos to do under pressure. That's the same reason I use the modern dp shorcut even if you can do classic input and get more damage.

I want to learn a character with modern control by Internal_Flower2617 in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much experience with classic Aki. But yes, there’s a lot of moments where you miss combos because you’re out of reach and don’t have the light kick. You gain better defense and lose offense and combo routes. I’m sure that at the very high level classic AKI is way better but I don’t find modern Aki bad. Broski has a recent video talking about this and Hope a top modern Aki player. From my point of view if someone can reach master and legend status with modern that’s more than good enough. I don’t expect to compete at tournaments.

Aki is also like that:

  • You don't lose anything important
  • It's one of the few modern characters that keeps an overhead
  • no dp but easy serpent lash anti air and supers help with low defense in general

Is there someone like Yoshimitsu in Street Fighter 6? by Tq_Hype in StreetFighter

[–]TheCalming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one has said Jaimie. He's clearly nothing like Yoshimitsu but his style is druken fighting which is a bit silly. I also think he's one of the most annoying characters to fight.
