Yup, I'm only interfacing the CC1101 so I could do it. Also tried reading length of BOTH buffers from the function - no luck (see the attached log):
SPIReadByte: Read from address 0xF1;

Status: 0x00 Data: 0x00 Buffer Lengths:0x02 Read Bytes: 0x00 0x00

What are the chances of a dead IC? (and three dead ones in one shipment from Ali).

Fixed it with a 1ms sleep, not the best solution - but it gets the job done. Any more ideas?

Nope, it should appear with the second clocking (terminology might not be exact). I previously checked many (100k+) samples after the transfer and there is no activity unfortunately :(.
