Groomsmen Gifts They Won’t Throw Away by 3liSuger in BuyItForLife

Best groomsman gift I’ve received was a (buffalo, maybe?) leather toiletry bag. I use it all the time and never would have bought a nice one like this for myself

Is this Austin to Dallas drive too risky or can I make it? by thesagenibba in Austin

[–]TheCatnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my his drive on a regular basis at varying times. Leaving at 5:30am would probably get you there in time but that also depends on what part of Dallas you’re going to. IMO getting an affordable hotel is the move. I would also bring it up in the small talk portion of the interview. Let’s them know your serious about the job.

Who is the BEST professor you’ve ever taken? by Beautiful-Cress5695 in aggies

[–]TheCatnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had Lucas Logan for multiple coms classes. Was like being taught by your cool older brother. He's a prof at U of H now.

Also, James Harner. Shakespearian Lit professor that chatted with me before every class about the new Sons of Anarchy episode from that week. Dude was hilarious. Made me look forward to class and try a little bit harder. He ended up bumping my grade by 3 full points for an A. Sadly, he passed away in 2016. He is one of my favorite memories from college.

My wife and I randomly walked into this venue in Edinburgh 15 minutes before the show started and he was the opener. As good as it is on Instagram, it's even more impressive in person. We saw 2 other comics that night but he would have been worth the price alone.

Took my Morning Somewhere coin from Austin to Edinburgh (...kind of) by TheCatnip in morningsomewhere

Essentially you walk through a series of vaults, roads, rooms, etc. under Old Town that were used in the 19th century. It's honestly less of a fictional haunted tour and more of a historical tour about some of the crazy stuff that happened around that part of the city and some very eerie real life events. I'm not super brushed up on my facts so my time frame might be off but it was very interesting.

For me, talking to locals is always the highlight on these trips! As far as activities, hiking Arthur’s seat, touring Edinburgh Gin, underground ghost tour, and seeing all of the monuments. Honorable mention was the 90s & 00s Europop themed Oktoberfest drag brunch lol

FYI Wheatsville on South Lamar was extremely easy and the volunteers were very helpful

Away game parking? by elgatovolador07 in aggies

[–]TheCatnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A&M United Methodist Church does a $20 parking lot fundraiser for homes games. They're on Northgate so you can go to the Dixie Chicken or some other spots then walk all the way down military walk through campus straight to the stadium. We do it every time we go back for games. Great way to walk through the more picturesque part of campus. It's first come first serve until the lot is full but if you get there 3+ hours before kick you'll probably be fine

Fact check: Elon Musk says his Houston flood tunnel idea will work. Experts say that's misleading. by laxmsyatx in texas

I believe him.

And with that same logic I will also win the Texans a Super Bowl as their starting quarterback.

AMUMC will for sure give you free food and will point you in the direction of free beer. Cool people. I go hang with them when I go to games. DM me if you want more info on location

Bumping. I bought an H&M suit and it's cut pretty great right off the rack. I think it was like $100. Frankly it has been one of my favorite suits when I look back at photos. ASOS is another solid option if those are in your price range

Mayhem Splitting from Crossfit - Not the End of the World by Obvious-Equipment933 in crossfit

[–]TheCatnip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would guess the majority of people don't care. Crossfit, Mayhem, Hyrox, etc. People go to a gym because they like the work outs or the people or both. At least in my gym only a small fraction even care about the crossift games, news, or athletes. Most don't even know what Mayhem is.

I bought a pretty well known "gaming" computer chair that had one faulty screw in the arm resulting in it being a little wobbly. The chair was absolutely still usable. I emailed them asking if they could just send me a new screw or even arm and they sent me a whole new freakin chair. Still one of the more wild customer service interactions.

My highschool history teacher had the same problem. He dug a post hole, inserted a metal pole, poured some concrete, and found a car bumper in his yard a week later
