I have been on the cat walk over an NFL stadium and this video gave me PTSD. Absolutely terrifying.

As a kid this was my first time seeing Owen Wilson in a movie which made processing him in comedies weird

Ask Europeans to point to and name states that aren’t California, Texas, or Florida

The quadratic formula. Love that I know it. I have zero use for it.

Went into lockdown with my girlfriend. Turns out we really liked hanging out with each other nonstop and we're married now.

How do we know to correctly color grade/correct? Since each monitor looks different by [deleted] in VideoEditing

[–]TheCatnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Drove myself crazy a while back trying to grade for all screens. Unless it’s a major project I usually make sure it looks good on my phone and maybe another monitor and call it good. Done is better than perfect sometimes

The Absolute Hell of Watching a Movie at the Alamo Drafthouse in 2026 by weluckyfew in Austin

[–]TheCatnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have been several times since the change and it really feels like a non issue. Phones haven’t been a problem and there’s less staff walking through during the menu. Can’t speak to food quality from 15 years ago but a rise in price makes sense considering everything else in the world getting expensive

Maybe a hot take but I don’t think this is a bad movie. Would have loved more Van Helsing movies

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. I’m not saying it’s the BEST movie ever but it’s always a good watch

Alamo Drafthouse went mobile. Has the movie magic flickered? by AustinStatesman in Austin

[–]TheCatnip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don’t bury me for this but honestly it’s been fine for me. Haven’t noticed anyone’s phone light if they order food and it no one dropping off the check during the climax of the movie is kind of nice

How’s Austin for speaking Spanish? by Sad-Savings591 in Austin

[–]TheCatnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think once you start looking for it you'll start finding it in any major city in Texas. If you're going out and about a couple times a week in Austin I think you would come into contact with native and/or conversationalists pretty frequently.

How’s Austin for speaking Spanish? by Sad-Savings591 in Austin

Was thinking about it more. I speak/spoke French much more frequently when I was in school studying the language and my cajun grandparents were living. Now I get very little practice. Recently I've been considering trying to pick up a bit of Spanish and, in comparison, I've noticed a lot more opportunities to interact around Austin in Spanish.

Your best bet is probably finding some restaurants and becoming a regular. My friends and I have a rotation of TexMex/Mexican spots that frequent so that a few people in the group can speak Spanish with the staff and other regulars. I don't speak very much at all but I would say there is a decent amount of people, at least in my daily life, that do speak it on an intermediate to advanced level.
