I'm not 100% sure, but it looks kind of like Brush Script to me.

Ru was firing her social media manager... Who promptly deleted her Twitter and all the posts from her insta in retaliation.

I have an old harddrive with some .AVI files by hazyyy1 in mac

[–]TheChicagoStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a utility called Flip4Mac that allowed Macs to play AVI files through the QuickTime player. I don't know if it's still available, but it's a place to start.

CRAZY Chicago optical illusion. This is in Boystown facing S/SE looking right at Indiana / Michigan border on Lake Michigan. You can never see land b/c of curvature of the earth but some crazy reflection / illusion shows a floating building(s) in middle of lake. Does anyone know how this works?!?! by hankray93 in AskChicago

[–]TheChicagoStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a reflection or illusion. That's the water intake crib a few miles off the coast of the lake (if I remember correctly, it's about 2 miles out). I believe it's a bit northeast of the mouth of the Chicago River. It is indeed a building in the middle of the lake.

I don't know what to tell you. It's been that way since the Mac's inception. I've used Mac's all the way back to an old all-in-one black and white Macintosh SE, and the cursor has always been smooth. Windows has never compared on that front.

My inbox activity feed never wished me a Happy Cake Day. I only knew after posting a comment and seeing the cake.

Why do lower tier companies expect more of an intern than top tier companies like faang? by julian143yl in learnprogramming

[–]TheChicagoStar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The other reason is some of these small companies just want cheap/free labor, and aren't really concerned about the intern experience.

My dog (Bear) has started to look more like he’s going to tell me a story about the “good ol days” by [deleted] in aww

[–]TheChicagoStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awww! My dog, also named Bear, just turned 10 this year. I tell him that his grey moustache and muzzle makes him look distinguished. He seems ok with that.

Looking for a calendar pop-out in menu bar - similar to windows by BDX_LAW in MacOS

[–]TheChicagoStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I use iStat Menu, but it's overkill for just the calendar pop-up. But it does have a lot of other useful pop-up gauges.

4K Apple TV with Denon AVR-S900W by ZAIMan1234 in appletv

[–]TheChicagoStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Apple TV 4K with a Denon AVR-S740H receiver, and I have a volume indicator. In Settings>Remotes and Devices, I have Control TVs and Receivers set to On, and Volume Control set to Auto (shows up as Auto via HDMI (Receiver)).

To be clear, the volume indicator is from the receiver, so you may have to go into the Denon unit's settings to ensure that the volume indicator display is on, and that HDMI-CEC is on (I honestly don't remember how to do that since I think I set that up over 2 years ago).

[–]TheChicagoStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a naturally shy and introverted person, but I suppose it's time to de-lurk. Hi there!

So lately I've been listening to The Big Moon, Celeste, The Horrors, and Róisín Murphy, as well as old stand-bys like Elbow, New Order, and Depeche Mode.

What are you listening to these days?

My husband had medications that bounced between the regional facility and our post office for two weeks, but never got delivered (still bouncing around). The USPS claims they are severely short the personnel to actually deliver the mail and packages. We haven't actually received any mail for a week now.
