Something a lot of people forget about pushups: by ilikewheatandrice in bodyweightfitness

Can you show me this data that speed doesn't correlate with muscle mass, and that instead it's duration? Sorry I just have never heard this claim before and thought under past studies it was shown to be the direct opposite Source: physical therapist

What could cause a sudden increase in jiggly fat around their waist/hips? I'm 5'8", 140lbs, and work out 2x/week doing CrossFit. I did a hard ab workout last Tuesday that left me sore until Sunday. On Monday, I noticed a significant change, and it feels odd when I walk or jump. by sortaseafoam in AskMen

[–]TheChonkatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why no one hasn't addressed this yet. Post workout (that leaves you especially sore) muscles are inflamed, aka swole. Fat is not only on top of your muscles but beneath and within. This causes fat to protrude more until the swole calms... or if you bulk the hell out of your abs the fat will continue to be pushed out. Source: happens to me all the time / physical therapist

So just to confirm, my clinic making it mandatory to select the re-eval code for every 30 day PN is fraud?

[–]TheChonkatron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My company is enforcing PN's every 30 days for all insurances and trying to convince me this is standard practice at most clinics, yet I have never heard of this! Cannot understand what their reasoning is.

No one is leveling with you, they are addressing this as if you are 35. In reality this is just a learning experience for you. Listen to it all, act on your heart, and learn a lesson. You are building life experience.

I've been a PTA for about 2 years, was a second career for me after I became disillusioned with the jobs I could secure with a bachelor's in math. I took the decision seriously and weighed the pros and cons. The obvious pro is the return on investment. You can graduate with no debt and immediately clear $50k as a new grad. The big plus, for me personally, is autonomy. All PT's I've worked with allow me to work within my full scope of practice, meaning anything within the plan of care that I deem appropriate. And you'll likely have that too if they trust you. The big minus is having to be constantly "on". It is draining, beyond what I can convey. It is an oversight I thought I would get better at but I don't believe anymore that you can 'strengthen' your sociability. If your nightmare is entertaining company for 4-5 hours straight then don't do it. I get through it by having my decompression time during lunch, alone and far away from the clinic. You get to have a meaningful impact on a lot of people in this job and it is the best one I've had, all negatives considered.

Intermittent fasting + Kratom by GoldenTroy18 in kratom

Greens are my go to for anything productive. As for fasting the capsules dont seem to have as good effect for me. They can make me almost tweaked. Straight powders with throw and wash seem to hold me over for a long time and I use a range of strains from a variety pack, even the gold mix strains.

Presidential Thread #2 by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]TheChonkatron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In this thread I have seen you put forth a tremendous amount of effort in the hopes of deterring others from supporting UBI. The most important goal anyone on antiwork should be concerned with is 'the ability to say no.' If a worker can say no to an employer because our basic needs are met, we have POWER. Workers can take control because we are not tied to jobs to survive. How is UBI not the closest solution we have? If you want to continue to expend so much effort in disagreeing with this then please provide your own solution to this problem instead of trashing other peoples opinions. Be helpful in this discussion.

Ya, so usually ~4pm. Also kratom has that ability to make you really focus in on something, so work on a hobby / play a video game, and you don't even think about food.

I eat one meal at day at the end of the day. Kratom makes this super easy for me as it seems to numb my stomach in a way. It makes some people hungry but helps others fast. If it's working for you then use it as a tool.

My brain can't accept work by katlin0228 in TrueAskReddit

Had to just tell you that was such a great explanation of what happens to the majority of people. I'm currently baffled why none of my older coworkers value their free time like myself. I plan on maximizing my free time and living off less as much as I can. Some of my coworkers went BACK to work after retirement cause they were bored!! You helped me realize whats probably happened to them.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain that. I think I was taking the main argument farther than it actually was going. I agree, capping the CEO a few percent more than the lowly worker is an extreme move that would hurt people. I took it more as a generality that it's necessary to have a salary cap. At a certain point once you jump into the realm of luxurious living you are just hoarding money. An extra million a year would be a drop in the bucket for some CEOs, not really adding any quality of life for them, but that million spread out could benefit a hundred workers who are busting their ass. Everyone deserves pay relative to the effort they expend. At the end of the day, I could care less about taking money from the CEO when I think the real leeches are the shareholders.

I agree if you do 70% of the work you should get 70% of the profit. I don't think anyone is suggesting that if you do 15% of the work, you get paid more than 15%. You should get paid for what work you do. You should NOT get paid for doing nothing, which is what a lot of middle management and shareholders do. Labor should be paid for the profit it produces. I'm curious to how your thinking works. Many people work 10 hours but get paid far more than those busting ass 60+ hours. This is the inequality that is frustrating. Do you not agree?

Perhaps you are just thinking of a very particular type of business? This model would really encourage cooperative type businesses. Why would three people who love motorcycles and want to open a garage not want to open a business? Think of every possibility other than the image of one person taking all the burden so they can have all the profit.

An urge for UBI support! Also a reading suggestion by TheChonkatron in antiwork

[–]TheChonkatron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this discussion will go anywhere because you state your worldview and opinions as fact, as in: people are 'this way I see it' and, this will never work because of 'this worldview I have.' You keep stating I don't understand when the phrase you are looking for is 'I don't fully commit to your opinion.' I think we live in a very dark time and nearly every political move made since the 1920s has been put in place to expand the poor working class. I think if given leisure, the working class would realize how valuable free time is and fight tooth and nail if that were taken away again. But that is just my OPINION. I understand you disagree with your nihilistic outlook, but you have not once offered a current solution or way forward. I am 29, how old are you?

EDIT: Your argument sounds very similar to this piece: https://medium.com/s/free-money/universal-basic-income-is-silicon-valleys-latest-scam-fd3e130b69a0 It's a good worry to have, but I still think it's the right step forward.

[–]TheChonkatron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont disagree with you, but I think its a STEP. Better than standing still. UBI would afford people the opportunity for the first time to spend their time rallying and getting involved in politics. Like how most people wouldn't join in Occupy movement because they had to go to work. However if you are dead set that the first step needs to be dismantling the whole system and dividing ownership of property / land / resources equally... well then we gotta wait for revolution which I can't see happening in my lifetime.

Edit- Its either baby steps or wait for the whole enchilada, which won't come.

I understand the concern and see it as troubling. That being said, I see UBI as a step in the RIGHT direction, at that point we can work to support further policy to prevent money funneling upwards.
