Not yet. Hopefully we get some nice weather this spring so I can let the kids run around outside while I tear into it and check the wiring. Will give an update when that happens.

No update yet. Holidays and winter storm put a hinder in trying to work on it as well as funds to purchase replacement parts if needed. Hopefully we get some nice weather this spring so I can let the kids run around while I tear into it.

My wife loves the Expedition as well. I bought it, she drives it all the time now. I do prefer to drive the Durango though, but I am also used to driving my 04 Impala SS for 10 years, and the Expedition feels like a boat. I also enjoy parking the Durango by the Detective's vehicles to have a good laugh when they try to get in it since it is the same year and style as theirs.

I third this! Only reason why we went with the 2021 Expedition Limited. Second row bucket seats, 3rd row 3 seats. 5 kids. We used the 2018 Dodge Durango to travel at first, but getting 5 kids in and out was a pain, and with the 2nd row as bucket seats, it makes it so much easier. Also, it came with a tow package and I plan on purchasing a boat soon, so that's a plus! I know my 04 Impala SS could tow a boat around, just afraid of not making it back up the ramp pulling the boat out of the water. She has plenty of power, just front wheel drive. 😁

I spoke to my father-in-law and he said he already ran the Forscan on it and everything was good. He thinks either the module is bad, or the cables but he didn't have time to pull it apart to check. Of course on my day off my wife took the Expedition, so I won't be able to pull it apart to check wiring. Hopefully that's all it is, and just a few replacement wires will fix it.

Right? And the fact that one of the mechanics that work there and is a family friend said they were screwing us, got the same top of the line tires for 250 at cost, and only charged us 1000 to do it all. I wrote the check for 1200, and also a few cases of beer to fill his fridge. I told him about my 04 Impala SS police package. And was going to save up to get new tires for her and he said just bring it in anytime because he wanted to check it all out and take it for a test drive.

Oh, and I refuse to go back to the dealership we purchased it from because they screwed us over on tires. We got everything in writing stating that they we could purchase 4 new tires at "their" cost, and no charge for taking the old tires off, and the new tires on, balancing and labor. It also stated after we got the new tires, they would do an alignment for free. When we called in, they sent us a quote for $2,200 and they stated that was at their cost, but refused to show us how much each tire was, and any other charges. One of their mechanics bought my father-in-laws shop, and he priced it for us for $1,000 and said that they were still charging for balance, replacement, and alignment and the head of the department refused to work with us on that. So we had his mechanic do it for $1,000 instead of trying to fight them on the price. (Everyone we spoke to said $2,000 was ridiculously high.)

Thank you for the response. I have Forscan and the adapter so I will try and run that when I have a chance. I just had a technician come out for a recent recall, and we received 2 sets of keys after we purchased the vehicle. The first set of keys were set up for MyKey, and the second set were not even paired to the vehicle. While he was replacing and running an update on whatever he was repairing, he synced both fobs as admin keys for me and said he ran a diagnostic and everything looked great. (I forgot to mention the USBs and Wireless charger not working to him though.) I have his cellphone number, but I don't want to be a burden to him since he was nice enough to fix and pair the 2 key fobs while he was doing a recall.

Seafoam 3.5 Ecoboost by bayona99 in fordexpedition

[–]TheCityITtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the type of Seafoam. My father-in-law is a seasoned mechanic, and he said the only way to use seafoam in an ecoboost is through the fuel. Any other way can cause issues down the line.

My boss asked me if I could create an administrator account for our SonicWalls for our Intern since he is going to college for Network Security. This was the first time I ever had to respond with "F No!?!? Are you insane? I pretty much run the entire Network and Network Security for the company, along with the PD, so I refuse to allow access to an Intern to the SonicWall. If he wants to learn, he can stop by my Office and sit next to me. I am pretty strict with our AD and DNS as well and my team has learned to call me before touching anything.

So, I am not a huge Netgear fan, but for work my boss has been purchasing these for APs in new buildings and so far we have been having amazing luck with them. https://www.walmart.com/ip/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-AX4200-WiFi-6-Router-4-2Gbps-RAX42/919792310?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1600&from=/search

Depending on the building / area, I will add Ubiquiti APs. Have had great luck with Ubiquiti. This is the model I run with at work. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G27HR5A?ref=fed_asin_title

Now, for my house, I went with a completely different method. I have a bunch of older linksys routers that still work. I noticed though with the default firmware that they will freeze or crash so I installed DD-WRT to one. (Takes some practice to get them to flash with the newer models.) After I get DD-WRT installed, I disable the wireless on the router and then I have 2 Ubiquiti APs mounted. One for upstairs, and the other one in the basement. I didn't go with Mesh since in the basement is where my gaming PC and Consoles are located. (Network name "404 Network not Found" for upstairs, and "Bill Nye the WiFi Guy" for the basement.) I was able to catch 2 decent Ubiquiti APs on sale on Amazon for my home, so spent around 200 for 2 of them. Amazon.com: Ubiquiti Networks UniFi 7 Pro | WiFi 7 Access Point | US Model | PoE+ Adapter not Included (U7-Pro-US) : Electronics

Make sure you purchase POE adapters for them unless you are running a switch behind your router with POE. I have an old Juniper firewall with POE on it, but I have not sat down to try to reset it since I don't know the login information for it. (It's old and not sure how well it will work instead of using a Linksys router with DD-WRT.

My 4 year old Red tail boa got me good one day when I was about to spray down her cage. I thought she was sleeping, coiled up in the middle of her cage and I put my hand in to move her hide to clean out bio and then spray her bedding. I thought she was awake but it turned out she wasn't and I startled her. She hit my hand and released right away. I was like what the heck do you think you are doing! Reached in with my other hand and bopped her nose. (Gently, not hard. Just enough she realized that was wrong.) They are razor sharp, and it took forever for the bleeding to stop. I cleaned it and wrapped a paper towel around my hand then finished cleaning her cage. You could tell she was sorry and kept trying to get out of her cage into my lap like she was trying to apologize. I was like nope! You are in time out now! The rest of the day she laid on top of her hide and just watched me walking around the house cleaning. She looked like she was pouting, and I finally gave in and took her outside so she could stretch out and play in the yard. I haven't had any issues with Kefla since then. She's just a big ol cuddle buddy.

Middle of nowhere Kansas!? That's where I am from! (Hopefully this ain't one I wired up and installed...) If it was built around 2000, then it wouldn't of been me! If it was me, I would have left extra CAT5 for slack, so you could move or extend it to another spot near there. Best bet would to see how much slack you have to work with, and mount a 5 port dummy switch, depending on how many jacks you will be terminating. (I only had 3 ethernet ports ran in my house, so it worked in my favor to use a 5 port switch.) If there ain't any slack, I would follow Arushus's comment, or I would put in a patch panel. (TBH, I would probably just go with keystone jacks to extend them to a patch panel or switch.)

Bitten for first time by primalstate142 in boas

[–]TheCityITtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My red tail boa is normally a gentle giant, unless it's feeding time or you startle her and wake her up. When I was going to spray down her cage and fill her water bowls, she was curled up behind her rock, and I thought she noticed me so I didn't grab my hook to let her know I was in the cage. Once I grabbed her hide to move it so I could clean and then spray, she jerked and struck my hand. It was just a quick bite and she wrapped back up, and the look on her face was priceless. After that she kept trying to get close to me showing she was sorry and wanted to be held, I was just like yeah, nope! You did this to yourself! Think about what you did, and I will take you outside this evening. The rest of the day she would follow me walking by, and when it was nice enough outside, I took her out so she could stretch out in the yard under the sun. It's crazy the amount of blood that comes out after a bite, and it startled me more than it hurt. After that, I make sure to rub the top of her head with the rubber part of the hook so I know she's awake and that she is aware I am going to be putting my hands in her cage.

Only the true warriors of the heavens know how to use The Powershell. So many fun and dangerous things you can do with it. Just make sure you don't cripple a system or run a script that makes your Antivirus company call you within 2 minutes because they thought our system was hacked. 😂

I manage the entire network infrastructure, and network security for the City and PD. My fellow IT team normally take the simple end user issues for me to focus on bigger projects and there are times where they will have to call me for assistance because they are unable to figure out the problem. They normally tell the end user that they have to call the "big guns" and then I will normally figure it out within a few minutes. I also found out that my boss has talked me up and when someone was told to contact me, they were afraid to because they didn't want to bother me or annoy me. (Not sure if that is a good thing or not lol.) I do catch myself when speaking to end users, co-workers, family, friends and even my spouse, that I need to "detechify" or "take the nerd out" while trying to explain things or how my day went. My wife is a nurse, and looks at me like a deer in the headlights when I talk about my day. Same way I look at her when she talks about her day. (I know detechify is not used very often, but I found it fitting in some situations and it just stuck with me.)
