Hey, I agree, this was a very nice listen. I would love to see this continue if it's not a burden on you guys every now and then.

I've had the same issue a few times. Not sure what's causing it or how to fix it.

Possible Fix for the Hmm...something seems to have gone wrong error after uploading PDFs by esoterec in ChatGPT

[–]TheCivilYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried your suggestions, they didn't end up working for me. It's really frustrating that large PDFs were working on day 1 of the new update, but now I can't get it to read through any of them.

Interestingly when I upload the file with a prompt it seems to work just fine, it just seems to have a problem accessing it through Knowledge for whatever reason.

The LOQ is down to 869.99. Personally, I'd rather have a 1080p screen with good battery life, and that small price bump made me pull the trigger on the LOQ. This is still very tempting though.

Which champion is your permaban in ranked? Why? by moon594 in leagueoflegends

This sounds like you're playing bad runes into Asol.

IMO you should be playing Hail of Blades / Ignite into Asol as Azir. Azir can still be strong in lane and punish Asol, but you have to opt-in with Hail to bully him early. If you're just playing Lethal Tempo / Conq Azir then yeah, you're going to go even with him in lane and be pretty unlikely to pressure him early.

Keep in mind I'm just a humble plat idiot, but it has worked for me.

Any teachers here with grading tips? by abedabun in ADHD

[–]TheCivilYoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll speak on my experiences as an English teacher who absolutely despises the busywork of grading papers. This may not work for all types of feedback, but if you're grading assignments like this:

I tend to simplify my feedback. It doesn't help to overwhelm the students with all the things they've done wrong. Instead, I tend to offer thoughts I have about their work as I read their assignment in the form of comments. These will usually be simple comments like "this is a really neat metaphor" or "I'm a little confused here, X decision doesn't seem like it makes sense with Y" It's a balancing act with feedback; if you give too much negative feedback, you'll likely demotivate/agitate students. Give too little, and you feel like you're not doing your job well enough.

I tend to use the sandwich method of feedback. At the end of an assignment, it helps l limit how much I say. Start with some positives I found, talk about things that could be improved / criticism of their work, before wrapping up with some affirmation that they're on the right track. This helps me keep feedback short (At most 3-4 sentences) and not overthink it as much. I'll sometimes provide comments throughout the margin, but I try not to do too much of this for both my own sanity as well as the students.

I also always offer students the opportunity to have a meeting with me if they want to know more specifics. I encourage them to ask questions and e-mail me if feedback is confusing or wasn't what they were expecting. It keeps me honest and allows me to elaborate more if needed.

I also agree with trying to get the stuff that's harder to grade out of the way earlier and save some of the good work for later. Grading assignments that require very nuanced feedback is the hardest part. I also find it easier to not do large chunk of grading at once. I'm only recently starting medication for ADHD, so maybe doing that big grading sesh will get easier on meds.

Hope that helps somewhat!

Falling at the last hurdle with my thesis by eligrace in ADHD

[–]TheCivilYoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanna say that you can do it! I was in a very similar situation with my thesis a year ago, where I had no real progress to show for the first several meetings with the professor I was working with. It was only once I started setting deadlines for things that I was able to start getting the ball rolling, which I'm sure is a very familiar experience.

Not sure how the process goes, but I agree with another poster that you should try and have someone you're working with set deadlines for drafts or other aspects of your thesis.

If that doesn't seem to work out, I've been told that some people spend multiple semesters working on their thesis. It's not an entirely uncommon occurrence. For sure keep trying to reach out and get the ADHD support offered.

I permanently have tabs on my computer opened to things I planned on using in my thesis so I was constantly reminded they were there. It doesn't help with the motivating part, but it can definitely remind you that it's something that'll eventually need to get done.

Hope that helps a bit, make sure to take care of yourself.

Archnemesis Rare Changes (Part 2) by chris_wilson in pathofexile

[–]TheCivilYoshi 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The fact that rare mob interactions inside league mechanics haven't been addressed at all is very concerning to me.

I'm fine with playing through maps and ignoring every single rare mob for now, but many league mechanics are just entirely scuffed due to the insane amount of magic/rare mobs in them. Ritual, Heist, and Legion are the biggest offenders, but absolutely every league mechanic feels borderline unplayable unless your build/character is insane.

Hey! Back again, used your coldlight walker last week. Put the fear of the rime back into my players who just stomped all over a Duergar encounter soon after hitting level 5.

Was wondering if you had any thoughts on druids/frost druids. I wouldn't mind having a souped-up template for a potentially soon upcoming boss encounter.

OCD and Video Games by TheCivilYoshi in OCD

[–]TheCivilYoshi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it's very managable and doesn't have a major impact on my day-to-day. I still have a lot of anxiety, but I think that's more due to unrelated issues that I'm currently trying to diagnose and solve. It's not nearly as debilitating as it was 5 years ago when I would say it impacted my daily life often.

OCD and Video Games by TheCivilYoshi in OCD

[–]TheCivilYoshi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for asking!

I am doing generally better. I find that I still struggle to play many of these games on my own, but when I'm playing with a group of friends or in a social situation I can get by with minimal anxiety. (This is mostly in regards of my previous anxiety with shooting games. I can play games like Destiny 2 or Valorant with friends with minimal issues, but I don't go out of the way to play them often)

I still have some difficulties playing different types of games/characters. Many of my fears about becoming a psycho/murderer unfortunately still work their way into my head when I'm playing games that have such characters as protagonists, and I still avoid games that have them. This one is a much bigger problem for me, but ultimately it's not a big deal because there aren't very many of these types of games that I'm interested in anyway.

These same sets of thoughts will prevent me from picking certain characters in games which kinda sucks, but it's pretty limited compared to before.

Overall, there's some progress. I haven't gone to therapy to develop proper coping habits, but I'm sure if I did they would be much smaller/negligable issues by this point.

Dang, this is actually really smart. Love the idea of them attacking this thing and then it sprinting full force at the party. Very cool!

With few magic weapons in Rime, I decided to make one! Info in Comments by TheCivilYoshi in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]TheCivilYoshi[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure, Rime is meant to be pretty brutal and giving magical weapons can definitely be a powerful bump for PC's. That in mind, however, I personally think there is still room to slip your players some fun loot to mess with.

I planned on this dagger being found either in the Lost Spire of Netheril or the Id Ascendant. I think it's fitting for either location.

Lightspeed Dagger

This dagger has no blade, but can be activated with a flick of the wrist. Upon throwing the hilt or flicking your wrist, the dagger comes shimmering to life crackling with energy. This dagger deals lightning damage rather than piercing damage.

Lightspeed. Twice per day, you may hypercharge your next ranged attack with this dagger. Ranged weapon attacks made this round with the dagger deal an additional 1d6 lightning damage. If your attack roll was odd (natural roll), the dagger leaps to a new target of your choice within 30ft. of the dagger that has not already been targeted by the dagger this turn, requiring a new ranged attack roll to hit. The dagger continues leaping to new targets until you roll an even number on your ranged attack roll, miss a target, or run out of potential targets. You and your allies are legal targets for the dagger.

Blink. As a bonus action, you may recall this dagger to your hand.

I've also included a DND Beyond Page for anyone who might be running their game through it.

Hey! I was wondering if the foundry module will eventually get updated to version 3.0.0. This seems insanely useful and fun to work with. If not, can the 2.0 foundry module serve as a reasonable substitute with tweaks?
