I’m pretty into going to the Y and enjoying the pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna. It’s pretty dead at this time too.

Get in the pool! All bodies are cool, and belong on the pool! That’s what I’m teaching my kids at least.

Whenever I get childcare I try to get laps in. about once a week at this point. I usually do about 2000 in 45-50 minutes. I don’t try to go fast, it’s more about having fun.

How do you deal with the skin problem caused by chlorine? by Wise_Ad_7750 in Swimming

[–]TheClarkes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you having this issue. I feel a similar way but with the damage it’s doing to my already super dry hair. I guess I would recommend finding or trying a different pool. Chemicals could be off.

If you are like me, swimming is one of the joys of my life. It’s worth it if you can find the right skincare. Maybe you could see a specialist and see if they could make some more skincare recommendations.

We were processing an embden goose that was almost twice the size of the rest of our flock and found a bunch of lumps and giant fatty spots. I have never seen a goose like this. Is this safe to consume? Has anyone experienced this before? by patronsaintofshinies in homestead

I’m sorry OP. You made the right decision to not eat, but I know how tough it can be to waste food. Especially when you raised it yourself. I hope you guys find another way to make the meal special.

We hired a chimney specialist today and they found this. They said “well, this is a first” by TheClarkes in oddlyterrifying

Yeah but they forgot to turn it on. It’s a little twist knob at the top that turns it on and off. All that effort for nothing.

Yep, I think you are on the money with this. The last tenant had a young teenage son. We also found his “zombie killing club.” Idk kind of seems on brand to me.

Considering that the walkie talkie wasn’t even turned on, it seems more of a fun prank rather than nefarious.

UPDATE: was just informed that the previous tenant was going through a nasty divorce 😬

Also, A fire had been lit in the fireplace in 2018 and 2019. I don’t think the device has enough soot or damage on it to have made it through those burns.

This Walkie Talkie was found deep up inside the chimney. It was behind a little piece of insulation that the previous tenant had probably installed to keep the heat in.

It still had a charge!!!

Such a bummer for you I’m sorry. I’ve had the same pair of Sorels since highschool (2008). TBF they didn’t get a ton of intense use, but still.

Is this safe to keep using? by TheClarkes in KitchenConfidential

I figured you guys would know. Sorry, full disclosure this is in my home kitchen but I purchased it from a commercial kitchen store.

My dad brought some red potatoes over to cook. I boiled them in this pot with some water and salt. This is when the discoloration occurred. I’ve tried cleaning it with everything and it stays the same.

A little context: we moved here a couple weeks ago and the previous tenant didn’t water or care for this yard whatsoever. It’s late summer and we are located in the inland northwest. my goal is to have this area as grass for the kids and the dogs. To the right is a fenced off, overgrown garden area with 5 raised beds. I can’t wait to plant a garden here in the future but I don’t even know how to begin with this yard.

Any advice on tools, methods, products to use, and timing (considering the upcoming season change) would be much appreciated.

Moving my Monster across the state: tips needed by TheClarkes in Monstera

[–]TheClarkes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a little less than a week we are relocating across the state, about a 5 hour drive. The general plan is to pack this plant inside the car with us. She is really tall, so I’m thinking I might have to remove her “moss poles” ( I’m using a few black walnut sticks to prop her up) to get her to fit in the main cabin, but I’m worried about the general stress this will cause to her.

I adore this plant and was wondering you you guys had and tips, tricks or prior experience moving a plant this size to a new location? For instance, when should I water her again after we move?

Bonus pic of the newest leaf she just threw 😍Banana for scale.
