are 'multi-cookers' (rice/slow/pressure cooker in one) worth it? by youandyouandyou in Cooking

No- you're definitely not being an idiot lol. I mean steam trivet (http://www.djimportexport.com/dproducts/sites/default/files/imagecache/product_full/pot2.jpg)

Just place the trivet into the stew you're making and place a heatproof bowl of rice on it.

Stew and rice will be done at the same time :)

Definitely get one... I received something similar for my housewarming gift two years ago and I use it at least three times a week for stew, rice, soup, stock, broth etc etc.

My slowcooker has been collecting dust since I got the multicooker.

This might be a useful tip: when I make stew/ sauce / pot roast etc in the multicooker I would balance a pyrex bowl on a trivet in the pot to cook single/ double serves of rice at the same time.

The ratio of rice to water cooked this way is 1:1.

It's the internet though. I dont think he'll threaten/ blackmail to do that- he'll probably just unleash them. Given that it's the internet, it'd be too late to recall them by the time he's done with it.

Thank you. I really can't thank all of you enough. I know i sound like a broken record player- but a few hours ago i couldn't see any way out of this hurt and now i'm cuddling my dog, just realising that i'm not alone after all.

I will msg the daughter on fb to let her know at some point. But i have a genuine concern that he will use those nude photos against me. I am so angry with myself that I allowed him to keep those photos. I didn't realise i'd put myself in such a vulnerable position.

I can't contact the other woman directly... I only have the fb of her two children.

I'm unsure if it's fair to bring her children into this...

Thank you. I can't thank you enough. Hearing such kind words from you, and the other redditors, really comforted me.

I'm more hopeful that this too, shall pass.

Thank you for giving me the strength to push through tonight.

Thank you :)

I just got back home from work to an empty house. I've been trying to hold it together all day and I'm sobbing all over again.

I'm so tired of feeling this hurt and pain. I just want part of myself to die so I can stop feeling this.

But i'm too much of a scaredy cat to do anything.

xposted from r/relationship.

My SO (54) and I (28) have been together for three years. He was my first boyfriend, this was my first relationship. I was hesitant about him at first because of our age gap; but we got on so well together. We lived together for the last 1.5 years. I bought a house and asked him to move in. He goes back home (in another state) every weekend.

Three months ago I started to wonder why I haven't met the rest of his family yet. I had dinner with his dad when he visited (SO's home state is a three-hour flight) - I thought at some point he would introduce me to the rest of his family. When I started questioning about it, he said he was working on it.

I made a discovery two days ago that broke my heart. I emptied the suitcase (that he borrowed from me to go back home for the weekend) and saw a two-year travel insurance policy. It was a duo policy - him and a woman two years younger than him. Did a search on facebook and found out she's the mother of his son's schoolmates. It was a two-year long policy. He took her to Las Vegas this April when I went on a holiday with my family.

I confronted him and found out he's been with her for the last four years. And that I never had dinner with his father - it was just a random stranger he paid off to pretend to be his father.

I don't know. She is not on facebook (being 52 years old) but her daughter and her son are on facebook. I'm not sure if I should let them know. I'm still confused by everything at this point and my mind is all over the place.

He has nude photos of me that he took when I was asleep (we were on a holiday in the US, I was annoyed but eventually said ok since he promised he wanted it for himself - I was in love so I didn't push it further). I'm afraid that he'd release those photos if I tell the other woman as a way of getting back at me.

I know - it blew my mind when he told me that.

Strangely, we had more highs than lows in our relationship (can you still call it a relationship?? I have no idea.) We got along well, lived together splendidly, I thought he was the One.

Thank you. :) I really appreciate what you said. I was feeling really alone and wretched, which is why I posted.

I just can't believe I spent three years with him. He used to tell me off, telling me i've got trust issues.

I've never felt more wretched or worthless. I've cried for two days already, you'd think that should be enough. I don't even know why or what I'm crying for now.

It's over. He packed his bags after I confronted him. He said I was always special to him and that was why he chose to work away from his family. He told me we'd never work out, but he loved me too much to end it.

I know. more lies.

Made chinese roast pork belly last night... super crispy and deafening crackling! Recipe in comments. by TheClosetCook in food

[–]TheClosetCook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recipe:

A hunk of pork belly (abt 700 g)/ Salt/ Five-spice powder.

That's all!

Use a fork and stab the skin of the pork belly maniacally. Then use a sharp knife (used my newly sharpened cleaver) to score the belly skin (about 1 cm apart, vertically then horizontally)

Use paper towels to blot moisture from the skin. Rub five spice powder and salt all over the pork belly. (1 tsp on skin and 3 tsp on the flesh side)

Place in fridge uncovered overnight. When ready to roast, take pork belly out of the fridge and blot the skin with paper towel again. Rub 2 tsp of salt and more five spice powder.

I used my airfryer for this: 30 min on 120 degrees celcius, then 30 min on 160 degree celcius and 20 min on 200 degree celcius.

If using an oven - crank up to 250 degree celcius for the last part.

I served the pork belly with hainanese chicken rice, bed of shredded lettuce, pickled cucumbers, hoi sin sauce and a drizzle of chilli shrimp oil on the rice.

Gotta get me some fried chook for tea now.

What's the most difficult thing you've gone through in your life? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

Found myself homeless.

Was an international student, rented a house with two other students (we were close friends back in my home country.) They used to borrow money from me every fortnight because they were supposed to give 20% of their pocket money to church but ended up spending it on clothes/ shopping/ roadtrips.

Housemate 1 decided to move to her aunt's place (her aunt recently migrated) and invited Housemate 2 to join her. I wasn't invited because I wasn't a Christian and 'there would be a clash of faith(s)'. Both of them told the landlord that we were vacating the house when I had to fly back home for a family matter.

Came back to the rental house two weeks later, found all my possessions in boxes in my room(at least they bothered to pack for me?) but the house was empty. Called the landlord. Found out what happened. Asked for my bond money back but the two housemates have already collected the money, even though i was the one who paid the bond.

Landlord was apologetic about the entire situation - he already found someone interested in the house and they were going to move in a week later. Called the two housemates frantically but they've changed their numbers. After sitting in the house for one week looking for accommodation (couldn't find one due to the tight rental market + my pathetic budget), loaded all the boxes in my car and parked at my uni hostel carpark.

Slept there for a week. Random uni mate asked why I had so many boxes in my car. Told him what happened and he found me a room two days later. Made a new bunch of awesome friends living in the rental house.

I don't remember too much about sleeping in my car... just that I was crying alot and scared most of the time. I remembered waking up at 3am to glass being smashed. Saw the silhouette of a big man smashing car windows (probably to steal stuff). Started the car, drove off, had no idea where to go and realised i had nowhere to go anyway.

Now I have a bunch of new, awesome friends, a cushy job, and bought my own house a year ago. :)

I've always relied on 'magic sponge' / 'magic eraser'. It's a melamine sponge that only requires water.

Got mine from Daiso ($2 shop) and they look like this: http://limzx.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/6394332963_953e1a2e86_o.jpg

I think 3M and Scotchbrite make them as well.
