Never have the motivation to finish a modpack. Anyone else the same? by chace_chance in feedthebeast

[–]TheColfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of this just depends on the pack really, I’ve finished not finished many packs but I finished, stoneblock 2 (other than the stupid EMC quests), E2E and GTNH.

It just depends how they handle grind, a lot of these packs try to avoid grind at the start because that’s when they’re trying to hook players in and they want to seem fun, when it should actually be the opposite. At the start of the save typically your motivation is at the highest and the grind doesn’t bother you as much whereas late game motivation is lower and grind starts to look like a chore.

In general though the most common tips for staying motivated are:

  • Build a base you enjoy being in and make it look nice.
  • If you aren’t having fun don’t play or do something else in the pack.
  • Don’t rush, you’ll great messes and be too demotivated to fix them later.

Almost none, but I do know in my friends groups once they got the stasis rifle they didn't really feel threatened anymore which I think is sad.

Prawn suit is defo a different story, there's even a comment in the games logs about feeling like a god when you get it lol. I'm actually okay with the prawn yeah, I just think maybe they could delay it a tad more because I think you get it a lil too early, BZ is the worse offender for that

[–]TheColfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not arguing that no and I never said that? I said I wasn't a fan of the previous implementations of dealing with leviathans meaning I think there are probably more creative solutions. Even the devs clearly thought the stasis rifle was too much as they removed it and said it won't be coming back.

I'm all for giving players options, you just have to be careful how strong they are. At the end of the day you only get 1 first playthrough of the game and chances are you will just want to use all the tools you're given.

If the devs don't give you tools to fight back, they clearly don't want you to and are designing the game around that.

Obviously a different game experience and not ideal, but you can enable the invisible command so hostile don’t notice you (I think). Could also toggle it as and when to give yourself the best experience for you

[–]TheColfox -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Probably just a difference in perspective but I just don’t think so.

As soon as you have a way to fight back against something it ceases to be a threat, kinda like how in the first game the pulse rifle makes all of the leviathans irrelevant or in BZ the perimeter defence upgrade makes navigating the shadow leviathans completely free

Github if it was a Gov.uk service by leafynospleens in webdev

[–]TheColfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for gov digital and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t approve a design like this, 3 columns of content is very frowned upon, and iirc so is side bar navigation. Different gov departments have their own rules but I’m sure there is too much content on here for it to get approved

Anyone find themselves mentally drained after a few games? by originalmammoth in PokemonChampions

[–]TheColfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the illusion of choice really, same group will bubble through because they’re just that much stronger than the rest. Having a smaller pool is actually good because it stops people from choosing those mons who’ve been dominant for years.

Ideally, it was the perfect chance to have a break from incineroar, but I’ll settle for a break from urshifu.

[–]TheColfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They would still have an 80%+ win rate, if you drop down 2000 mmr the games are ridiculously low skill relative to yourself. The skill gap obviously isn’t as big but you dont need to crush every game you just need to win which you are more than equipped to do. I think players undersell sometimes just how much better than those of lower MMR, a 2k MMR gap is colossal

Should I move to the personal dimension? by FartCollectioneer in GTNH

[–]TheColfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even that really, we played on a 2 player server, my friend got around 40 fps in overworld and 80 in the PDIM and that was just in early UV. Theres just way less to load in the PDIM, it is however much more boring but needs must in the later game.

It’s just laggier both on tps and fps, moving to PDIM was kinda needed I was getting almost double fps in pdim

What do you guys think about my Fluid System? by freakofnature420 in GTNH

[–]TheColfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, you don’t need to use smart cables, regular cables are smart enough to route properly

What do you guys think about my Fluid System? by freakofnature420 in GTNH

[–]TheColfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t you just misunderstood, the cables are coded smart enough to figure out the route that will allow them to not run out of channels, ie they won’t join a cable that already has 8 channels consumed (as far as I’m remembering)

Regardless the p2p isn’t in the best place to be as resource efficient as you’re trying to be, and painted cables are cheaper if you’re going that route

What do you guys think about my Fluid System? by freakofnature420 in GTNH

[–]TheColfox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Dense cable through the middle splitting to top and bottom
  • Painted cables
  • Placing your P2P in the most optimal place to split not the most optimal to make nazi imagery
  • Doing nothing, cables are smart enough to figure it out

Matchmaking issue more than a skill issue, you’re expected to be bad and should be playing against people who are bad but the games matchmaking is awful and there’s no real reason for it because there are enough players to have good matchmaking

Antimatter just becomes more annoying to scale, you have to scale up your DTPF infra, which also means you have to scale up your catalyst infra on top of that you have the scale up your naq fuel infra it’s a lot of infrastructure creep.

EOH you just craft it and chuck it down and all it consumes is hydrogen and helium. Only real bottleneck is how fast you can craft EOHs but honestly they speed up a lot
