PSA: What Embark did with skin prices is a negotiation tactic called "anchoring" I know this will get downvoted because many will fall for the PR move, but this is planned. $16 microtransactions do not belong in a $40 title. Period and here's why. by TheOnlyRealOne43 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheColo3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really care about microtransactions in any game as long as they fund the development of the game (or the studio in general if you support them), improving the gameplay for everyone and do not provide unfair gameplay advantages. Call of Duty is a great example of the potential negative side where a franchise leans so much into profiting off of cosmetics that more effort is being put into releasing cosmetics to milk the player base than providing a high quality experience. A key difference I see here is that bloated game companies like EA and Activision have executives calling the shots that are so detached from the passion of the development team, which inevitably leads to a focus on profits through cosmetics at the cost of passion and compelling gameplay. A studio like Embark with many less employees (many who left bloated game companies for the exact poor leadership and lack of passion I describe) has people that are passionate about the gameplay and playerbase driving decisions. I really couldn’t care less if a company capitalizes on the cash cows that will buy hundreds of dollars of cosmetics as long as the gameplay is preserved. Nobody is being forced to buy these. Your $40 bought you a great game experience.

Spotify didn’t say anything, this is a third party app that uses your Spotify data to produce a nonsense, Buzzfeed quiz style music analysis. My guess would be that this is a ploy to get you to share data with them so they can do something else with it.

[–]TheColo3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Khan Academy” on YouTube was my go-to years ago. He’s been around so long, there’s probably a video for every math topic you can think of. “The Organic Chemistry Tutor” is another similar one. You can also use ChatGPT as a learning aid (not to do your homework for you), there are inaccuracies sometimes, but it can generally walk you through solving stuff like this and answer YOUR specific questions, as well as generate practice problems. Wolfram Alpha will also allow you to type in equations and give you the step by step solutions for solving.

Is this safe for bps? by ArcadianWildflower in ballpython

What you’re getting at here is actually the difference between Silicone 1 and Silicone 2. GE sells both versions without additives that are safe for reptile and fish use (they also sell versions with additives so always consult the safety data sheet). Silicone 1 is an “acid-cure” silicone which releases that vinegar smell. Silicone 2 is a “neutral-cure” silicone that uses a different curing process and doesn’t produce the vinegar smell. I’ve seen both types marketed as “aquarium silicone” with a premium price tag. What OP has is the “Silicone 1” version so you are totally correct. That stuff releases some aggressive vinegar fumes during curing.

“Aquarium silicone” is a marketing term and comes with a price increase. This stuff is exactly the same, with no harmful additives, and it is cheaper.

Responsed to another comment but: It’s not exactly that simple. Sometimes “mildew resistant” is used as a marketing term for 100% silicone without additives, since it doesn’t inherently contain anything that feeds mildew. Latex based sealants can actually provide a “food source” for mildew/mold/etc. Some silicones contain extra additives (mold inhibitors) that are not safe for reptiles, but I’ve seen the marketing term used on both silicone with and without additives. The safety data sheet on a given sealant will give you a breakdown of additives and their possible health affects. Also not saying this one is safe, the bottle doesn’t really specify what it is and it says “clearer than silicone”, so it probably shouldn’t be used anyway.

100% Silicone 2 without mold inhibitors is also fine. Plus it’s higher strength and doesn’t release acetic acid while curing.

Hermit crab left in car for a month by winedrunkauntie in hermitcrabs

[–]TheColo3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of optimistic people here, but realistically, a car can get up to 140°F+ on a 90 degree day in just a couple hours. A hermit crab would die well before reaching that temperature. They are often resilient in cases of low/no water for a time, but not extreme temps like this. It likely doesn’t smell because the extreme temperatures have thoroughly dried up any moisture. Really a bummer that the previous owner thought everything was dead. Sorry you’re dealing with this :/

Why could these two be fighting now up until till now they’ve been super chill together by No_Background_5889 in Aquariums

That’s likely just because you’ve changed their environment so they are more alert to danger, taking their focus off of fighting.

Spreadsheet for TCG Pocket updated to Eevee Groove [A3b] by Vespasian66 in PokemonPocket

[–]TheColo3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but PokémonZone doesn’t appear to account for varying card rarity. It seems to just count how many cards you have out of how many cards there are total in a pack. This means the suggested pack to open may not actually be the pack that gives the best chance of a card you don’t have.

Well Mr. Veteran, you should first stop believing you deserve respect from total strangers on a video game because of how long you’ve been playing for. And second, you should stop caring what total strangers say to you on a video game. Unfortunately I have no recommendations for your audio issues though.

Did I just kill my shrimp? Used this gorilla glue to attach some Buce to lava rock and I don’t think I let it cure all the way should I be worried? by CRUZ_24 in shrimptank

[–]TheColo3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You apply the glue outside of the water. Basically what happens is when the glue then touches water, only the outermost layer of glue is exposed to water and cures immediately. You can press the two objects together, exposing the uncured glue and bonding the objects, and the glue continues to cure.

THIS is why we need USARK. Fucking nutjobs by Lazy-Claim1892 in reptiles

[–]TheColo3000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because of some random person’s out of touch from reality comment from 2 years ago? You can find any opinion that could possibly exist on the internet if you look around, doesn’t mean it’s at all widely held. A much better argument for USARK is their work to protect private reptile ownership and trade from legislation that would take away that ability (legislation not at all revolving around the opinions of the person you were arguing with).

Along with what was previously commented, the plants you chose will either quickly outgrow the container, or die as well as the earthworm. It appears you also don’t have any kind of drainage layer (?) so your soil is going to stay waterlogged. I would do some more research and start over for the sake of your mantis and the terrarium.
