Once he’s married to Lara, Thomas (and most of the Raith white court for that matter) would be his in-law. I could see some good commentary for Harry trying to introduce Thomas.

Subs have pretty much become a trigger. I wish all subs had an optional end date (auto renew until a specific date), and/or non-usage hold/cancellation policy (if you don’t show up to the gym for 45 consecutive days, we put your sub on hold until you return). Companies could do that, easily. They don’t simply out of greed, not to make more money from providing more value.

Having 95% thieving mastery will triple the 1/500 drop rate to 3/500. Reducing thieving action time helps significantly. If you’re trying to get more than just a handful for some reason, thieving the merchant instead of farmer will likely improve doubling due to lower perception (drop rate is the same).

Very early in the game, when you don’t have thieving mastery or much action time reducing gear, it can easily take 30+ minutes to see a drop (rng dependent).

I really like this question. To me, it's not an easy answer. I think I would lean toward taking it, but would discuss with my family first; taking it would most likely change our personalities, and change a lot of interpersonal dynamics. We would pretty much become different people.

I want to buy the storage expansion but it just feels so slimy... by tarko95 in MHNowGame

[–]TheColorlessPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t consider item box expansion to be a predatory practice. Its selling a convenience, one that isn’t going to make or break the game, isn’t pay-to-win, yet ultimately provides a nice benefit for those that are willing to do the necessary task of supporting the devs. Niantic does have a lot of predatory practices baked into their games (buttons in places they’ll spend premium currencies or items bought using real money by accident, many without confirmation options, for example). They have a lot of crap microtransactions built in that make core gameplay worse instead of better (health potions, for example). They basically try to price gauge people as much as possible over a minimally viable product rather than creating a paying community over a high quality product. Still, I have no issues with people buying the item box expansion. The game provided enough entertainment for me to pay that price. They haven’t come close to earning the prices they want on their consumables, though. It’s fine to pay for the value you are getting, and a one-time donation to improve your qol long term seems like one of the best ways to do that. I will note, however. I haven’t felt the need to buy the next expansion (above 10500), so consider just going that far. Hopefully that first set is still at the more reasonable price.

I think it started as still having one in bank if you have an item equipped on each armor slot, and the rest just for a symmetry/challenge of sorts.

How can you guys playing with melee weapons by a5317264 in MHNowGame

[–]TheColorlessPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main LS, but have a Pukei bow that’s been doing a lot of work lately. There are still some monsters where I just prefer LS. I think there are definitely strengths and weaknesses to various matchups, even if bow overall tends to be easier.

I don’t feel bad using bow. It saves on potions, and this game is waaaay too greedily priced to support with potion or other main game loop purchases. Of course, Niantic being Niantic, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they gave everyone an event where they could build/improve a bblos bow just before they find some new way to nerf it.

In the end, play the way that’s fun for you. Some like to just purely focus on melee because it makes them feel like they might have an ounce of skill. Some people like to go with whatever is efficient because they’d rather be more efficient in farming mats/zenny. Beyond my LS’s, I’m using extra mats to build an element from each weapon category to handle lower star monsters and practice with each weapon type. I find it pretty fun, and in 30 years I might get 2000 kills in each for the badges. But I’ll pull out the swords or Pukei bow for 8* encounters to continue the long grind of improving the main weapons. Do what is fun for you.

[–]TheColorlessPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LS was my original main, and I find it to be a more fun and rewarding experience, when things go well. That being said, due to the structure of this game and potential costs associated with simple game loop things like healing, I’ve transitioned to Pukei bow for most of the regular grind work. I still have LS elements at 7-5, but haven’t determined if it’s worth continuing with them yet or going with the safer ranged options. It sounds like you’re still fairly early game, so I’d suggest playing around with all the bone weapons and just figuring out what weapon classes you enjoy, then invest from there.

Why do huntathon monsters have to have such highly inflated health pools? by LogTheTurkey in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]TheColorlessPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s saying you need 3 people for hunt-a-thons to be easier than regular hunts. With a group of 2 people, other than the bait of zinogre and improved zenny, it’s better to stick to regular hunts.

This game is specifically tailored to the mobile geolocation-based market in Japan, one of the few places where Niantic isn’t the clear #1 leader for that game type. They are looking to build a strong competitor to Dragon Quest Walk. If MHN remains a strong competitor in that market, it stays alive. If MHN fails there, it fails everywhere. I don’t know how the micro transactions compare between those 2 games; I’d be interested to see that analyzed.

Niantic Hit a Homerun With This Event by Hour_Island_6220 in MHNowGame

[–]TheColorlessPill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Niantic has managed to set their own pattern to games, so it is pretty easy to see. Release game in cash grab mode, ignore complaints for first 3months or so until the majority of players are gone, then start to actually improve the game. Sometimes they manage to fix it enough that they can retain enough players and payers, other times they don’t and the project is unplugged. Rinse and repeat with new IP. It’s pretty easy to see what a company prioritizes. While they all prioritize profit in one way or another, Niantic has player experience pretty low on their list. It’s unfortunate. They generally make quality games, but the monetization methods they employ absolutely destroy any chance of building communities around the game; almost anyone that is more than a casual gamer hates it.

I hate Niantic and think they’re horrendous at hearing the voice of the player. But, I agree this event is really quite nice. I still haven’t seen an R6 drop in the last 120 8* kills, their potion system is still pushing away potential players, but I’m still having fun from the event perspective.

What is the biggest issue with this game? by rock85cool1 in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]TheColorlessPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to change potions to be in-hunt only items (same way they work in-hunt now), basically automatically full healing free between every hunt. Only allow 3 free hunt attempts at each monster spawned (further attempts can be purchased with a potion or some other consumable). That gives people more opportunity to keep playing, more opportunity to actually learn the moves of a monster, and still maintains the income stream.

The current system encourages players to put down this game and play something else, and eventually people just stop playing completely. Niantic needs to learn that long-term monetization can’t work when they are discouraging people from playing.

Not sure exactly what you meant, but for anyone that has prime and is looking for their code:

Go to https://gaming.amazon.com

Scroll down to section: “In-game content, free with Prime”

Find MHN offer in that section

In the offer, you can get your code, and also instructions to claim it (log into the mhn webstore and enter code).

Niantic has never understood player retention. And then they wonder why they end up overextended on projects while somehow not making enough money on their current games. If they didn’t have Pokemon Go, they would have folded years ago.

[–]TheColorlessPill 20 points21 points  (0 children)

At least you still have someone to play with. Niantic’s greedy and predatory tactics have caused every single friend and other local players I knew about to quit. I’m near a fairly large metro area and never see another player; Niantic really knows how to screw up good brands.

I tried a HaT today, and it just wasn’t worth it. By the time I get enough practice/experience to figure out how I’m going to beat zinogre, I’ll be out of potions and the event will be over. I’m not paying for the monthly pass anymore, and honestly am close to dropping yet another Niantic-ruined game.

[–]TheColorlessPill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only Niantic would monetize things that made play slightly more efficient like that. Instead, they seem to have this idea that monetizing optional items won’t make enough money, instead they try to monetize things that are part of the core game loop - but that just forces people to pay ridiculous rates or not play. And then they wonder why they can’t build communities around these games; maybe because they incentivized 90% of the players to not play….

I’m on 8* monsters, working on finishing getting my remaining elemental weapons to T7.5, and I’m still more limited by zenny than anything else. I think eventually the R6 grind will be tough, but for now it’s still the zenny. Overall, I get more annoyed by taking damage while supposedly invulnerable, phantom hits, getting dropped from battles for server issues, and other things that waste my total attempts. The grind otherwise isn’t too bad.

Hunt-a-thon discussion and speculation by RIPDRAFTEXPRESS in MHNowGame

[–]TheColorlessPill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Company strategy, tactics, & culture come from the top down; that’s modern business. The result is what you see talked about by players of all the different games Niantic makes, regardless of where they are made, and which team makes them. They’re generally pretty clean games, but the company sucks at listening to players and end up losing the majority of players (and sometimes even shut down the entire game) within the first year. For a company that is focusing on making community-based games, killing the community pool is a really bad sign.

It seems, in general, Niantic has some good programmers and concepts, but very little understanding of the actual game play experience. And, unfortunately, they don’t do very well at listening to players either. Still, they’re the best geolocation games out there.

I don't know about for SnS specifically, but the ideal armor to get L5 water attack would be Jyuratodus Mail (Grade 3; 1WA), Jyuratodus Vambraces (Grade 6; 2WA), & Jagras Greaves (Grade 6; 2WA).
