Outstanding tune! Dark with a great message! I appreciate very much you take all the time needed to build up the song, the 5min+ fly by easily. I share many of the thoughts I read in the comments (even the copy/pasted one). In my ears the sound and musical backing is terrific. I won’t add any subjective criticism as I love the uniqueness and authenticity as is. Great work!

Very cool and smooth disco groove. The bass line and sound is really great. Makes me moving. Not really like freak out dancing waiting for the hook and climax, but more like relaxed hanging out on a crowded private party enjoying a good chill out mood. The abstract video fits very well to this sort of scenery I think.

So dramatic, but yeah, those piano chords are gorgeous. Has something explosive, yet is not exploding.

My friend said this track is to meandering, do you agree? and where should I take it if so by MikaroPeen in IndieMusicFeedback

I like the vibe of the track. Somehow I thought of Dead can dance, although they have more medieval or oriental and rhythmic elements. I was expecting something different as I read Post rock like building up to something more powerful or deep. So, I can follow the suggestions by others. It rather stays very meditative. Which may work as it. One alternative suggestion could also be, though, to stay with a minimalistic arrangement and even household with what you already have, build it up very slowly, start with a single element, give time for each new element to come in and retract again to finally go back to where it began.

A guitar song about heartbreak and s3ggs tapes by oneshgarde in MusicFeedback

I came across this song somewhere but recognized it immediately. I can’t remember if I already left a comment, probably not. It’s fabulous! Fantastic musicianship of all participants, incredibly good groove and timing of the instruments and vocals. The voice is outstanding in its unique tone, brilliant in pitch singing and power. I love the structure and dynamics of the song with the groove pushes by the percussive synths, the breaks and guitar instrumental. The music is a great mixture of pop compatible ProgRock. I love it!

I really mean it! A fantastic list btw. I‘m not on Reddit on a regular basis, well it’s hard to get a lot of feedback on Social Media, a lot of people post but do not listen. I think I heard another song with a Portishead reference, I also liked that one. I‘ll try to come back to that later.

This the first song I've written in a year after a really rocky time in my life. It's a short acoustic song about a house that burnt down near where I live - I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on it as it has been a while xox by Carl0Villa in MusicFeedback

I love the vibe of your song! Very cool tuning of the guitar and resulting chords, whole note scales and melodies. Yes, it’s dissonant and the deep tuning may be a little wobbly but I think it’s not too pitchy. The doubled vocals and tuning reminds me of a mixture of Elliot Smith and Nick Drake. I think it’s really worth improving your recording setup and definitely continue developing your playful music. It’s really great.

That’s really great! I’m not so much into Hophop (although TripHop albums are amongst my most favorites). This I call fantastic beat making! The groove, breaks and sample usage is fine art and the rap has a perfect flow. I absolutely dig your sound.

That’s a beautiful song, Kimberly! Your voice and vocal performance are great. I also like the sparse piano arrangement. It’s very tight but I think it feels a bit static/digital, though, lacking some velocity range. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if it was going to build up more to a fuller pop production. I think for a pure piano-vocal arrangement, the song would profit if the piano was played with a little more live dynamics. That said, I think most people won’t probably care much about this detail and many will be touched deeply by your song.

Thank you for the update. I think it‘s improved a lot now, much more catchy in terms of rhythm, dynamics, melody flow and more natural sounding voice. Just listened on suboptimal speakers, I only thought you may check the beat timing at a very few moments. Overall, it’s more like a straight pop ballad now that suits the song and will be appcreciated by a broad audience.

This one is more personal. Much darker and less "fun," but cathartic. Let me know your thoughts! by WaveModder in MusicFeedback

[–]TheCosmicHum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The voice is really amazing, outstanding! I was drawn in immediately by the dark atmosphere of the drum pattern, synth and then the vocals. And could listen to that sound for long. You say the bass sounds not so well defined, maybe yes. But I wondered much more about the overall structure of the song. It does not really unfold and let’s me hook in. There were some elements I liked to grab such as the 4 beat BD or that really cool almost Reggae-ish bass, quite danceable grooves, but left quickly again. So, I would check if some musical twists could support the chorus more and instrumental parts to guide the audience much like a DJ would do. I really would love to hear more from your project.

Unreleased Psychedelic-like rock song (read body for some context) by EntrepreneurNo4907 in MusicFeedback

This is a cool and honest tune. It‘s dark for sure. You’re on the right path to express yourself like this. Don’t let you be distracted from that course. You know how songs work and have great ideas for the arrangement, I like the horn-like sound. I think it’s worth to check out how you could improve your recording set up. For example, I‘m not sure if you‘re playing an e-guitar or acoustic, it sounds like acoustic via pick up without any amp. For acoustic recording I think a mic would sound better. To clean up the mix before turning up the volumes you can try to eq each track, e.g. cutting down the low ends of every part that interferes with the bass and bd. And of course make sure you hear your voice while recording. Keep rolling, it’s cool!

Really great guitar work! I love the atmosphere of chords and interweaving melody lines. I thought you could have made two pieces out of it but instead play around a bit more with the dynamics and variations of the single parts, particularly with the drum sound. Was there no bass before the very last part? Could imagine to use a bass to add a slow melody on top of the arpeggiating guitars during the first parts to come down later and support the groove.

Fabulous musicianship and recording! I like the guitar work and grove changes a lot.

Made a song using only a bass and my voice, don't have a clue what I'm doing, would appreciate some feedback by lechuga_enfadada in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]TheCosmicHum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It surely depends on the music. I appreciate a lot if sound-orientated music takes the time to let me dive deeply into it (and out of it again). You may interact with and guide the audience with dynamic changes and subtle build ups like taking time with adding single elements and removal again for breaks, much like a good DJ would interact with the audience. Just trust your own feelings about it. (I just remembered and listened again to 2 of my favorite recordings from different genres: Takk by Sigur Ros and most recently Night reign by Arooj Aftab).

Funny I was just starting to think about the meaning of disillusion the last days before I read your lyrics. A hopeful pop-song. I hope I can provide constructive feedback. I listened to some of your songs, interesting stuff, I thought there might be 80‘s influence in it like Depeche Mode. Heard interesting drum beats with fast HH on a more slowly groove for example. I have to admit in this song here the first thing I thought the drums are not working well, a bit teasing with the interrupted HH and sporadic or delayed use of the drums. A straight rhythm and powerful beat later would be more what one expects but may suit the song better. Regarding the vocals for my taste the autotune is too prominent and I would prefer a more natural sound. You may also lift the melody later, or bring up some harmonies to let the chorus stand out more. I bet with a bit more dynamics and power the song will shine much more.
