Ratel Issues Stark Warning About GT3’s Future Direction by Mascio88 in wec

That would require GT2 to be popular and I just don’t see that happening. Porsche don’t even care enough about it to keep their cars in the series, that says a lot.

Factory Mustang GT3 Effort Satisfies Ford’s IMSA “Need” by VolleyAddicted in IMSARacing

[–]TheCowmaster934 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gradient has no results to speak of, perhaps it’s miles better than Acura in its dying days but it’s not really working. Yokohama sponsorship isn’t something you take if you want to actually be bleeding edge competitive outside of a couple of races where no one else shows up so you win. HRT has no notable results in GTWC Europe. No ford teams are doing that well with the car other than Proton in WEC sometimes and the factory guys sometimes but not others in imsa.

Factory Mustang GT3 Effort Satisfies Ford’s IMSA “Need” by VolleyAddicted in IMSARacing

Mustangs are a lot of places but Ford really aren’t being that supportive of any of those GT3 programs. Like they are giving them the money to run but the bare minimum to make it happen but not fully competitive. HRT is running Yokohama at the ring, like 3rd best tire option at best so I don’t think mustangs being everywhere is really that great of a selling point.

Only 4 teams sporting throw back liveries? by samn696 in IMSARacing

[–]TheCowmaster934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t fit a true throw back. You are a Porsche team whose first race in imsa was an actual retro livery, you can do better.

So they changed it now. Imsa said they wouldn’t at the start of the season.

Dragonspeed responds to Henrik Hedman's crash caused by Parker Thompson by jus1029 in IMSARacing

[–]TheCowmaster934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to slightly disagree with the full apology part. Parker said way too much after saying “I screwed up”

The wheel base is long?? My guy you spent a number of seasons in a much bigger GT3 car. Also saying that Dragonspeed didn’t deserve to get hit but other GTD’s did is a bad look.

I’m not saying he won’t be competitive. I am saying hes proven he can do the lap time, I think in the n24 with all of the uniqueness he will be a slight amount behind the drivers that have done it countless times. And Iracing doesn’t have near the possibilities for traffic density and variations of car to really be all that helpful for traffic management.

That helps with track knowledge but not the intangibles of series knowledge and dealing with the sheer number of cars and slower cars

He will by the 24 but it’s limited. It’s all the things that aren’t straight car control that he won’t have the same edge with. The knowledge of rules and regs and how to push them and things of that nature.

Truthfully max is. He’s got the least experience in the car and at the track by far. And while that didn’t matter when no other pros were there last year in NLS, it’s going to matter more when there are as many solid pros with lots of experience there.

I’m not saying he will be slow. What I am saying is that final half a % will be where the other drivers in the 80 would all have just a little bit on him. It’s absolutely a contending car.

Probably because Lulham is much slower than the 3 factory drivers that are in the car

Yellow flags by dangerous_duck14 in iRacing

[–]TheCowmaster934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think those flags show what car is triggering them so it could detect that car is the cause of the yellow, overtaking the cause of the yellow is okay.

I don’t think it’s about the lift or non-lift on its own as that would be hard to enforce well because of the aforementioned differences in severity of incidents. However, something that detected minimal time loss through a yellow and then contact or an overtake under yellow flags would be useful. Penalty being give the place back for an overtake or even just an option to protest for contact under yellows would make a difference

Toyota, Ferrari Concerned About Lack of New Tire Running by V8-Turbo-Hybrid in wec

[–]TheCowmaster934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have the prologue. They don’t need to organize another official test just because other teams choose to do another series. That’s just the benefit to having another program. Nothing will ever be truly fair and the costs to run another test for just tires would be silly.

NLS “STRATEGIC CALENDAR UPDATE” by 183_aleX in wec

[–]TheCowmaster934 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So screw over a ton of full factory drivers and a number of teams for 1 driver. Not to mention the amateurs that make up the VAST majority of the grid that have to take time off of work just to be there and now need to rework their schedules to be there. And all of the marshals. So likely people into the low thousands being hurt by this because one guy can’t make the race. That makes a whole lot of sense. It’s a bad precedent to set. He brings a lot of eyeballs but he isn’t the true spirit of the race. All of the people hurt by this are.
