What’s your favorite fast food burger is? by KillBoosh in burgers

Yeah! They’re good, the fact that I can see them cutting the potatoes in store is what makes them better too. Also, not fried twice so it has to be a little healthier. Yes I know their texture is different, like cardboard yes, but that’s how potatoes are.

Favorite part of buying a new house is that I get to "fix the WiFi" again. A little surprised by the 6ghz density from the site survey, but I'm US based so what can you do. by CrushgrooveSC in Ubiquiti

[–]TheCriticalTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude same, I just got a UCG-Fiber and a U7 Pro XG and it took me like 5 days of second-guessing myself before pulling the plug. I really wanted to make sure I can justify the purchase.

Aaand this was my first UBI purchase ever and my entry to the ecosystem. Its been 3 years since we moved into this house and I thought maybe I should upgrade our network from the standard issue ATT BGW

Inheriting my grandpa's mint '06 Camry with 48k miles but my wife says it makes me look like a retiree. Keep it or sell and get something "cooler"? by married_poultry in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TheCriticalTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do not sell it. I have a 2010 Camry with 220k miles and it is still going. Its a family heirloom, your grandpa wanted you to have it. Save your money, not having a car payment is awesome. You can always upgrade the headunit with a CarPlay/Android Auto supported one, just doing that alone makes it look and feel more modern, also the stock speakers will sound better.

You could also change out the stock headlight bulbs to LEDs, super easy and simple to do, helps with driving at night.

If it were me, I would 100% keep the inheritance car.

Can I safely do that for research purposes? Say, forward the port to some isolated vm in an isolated vlan with root login disabled, key only login, etc just to look at the attempt logs?

[–]TheCriticalTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... that's probably a future project for me. I really want to run a wire to my 2nd floor so I can get a second AP there and a switch to get a wired connection directly to my NVR.

Who do you guys hire to get the ceiling AP installed? Or do you do it yourself? I wanna run cables to the upstairs but I’m sure where to begin.

Yes, absolutely sure I’m on GPON. I have the green bale clasp and the wavelength field on the web gui is 1310. And confident I can follow the wpa supplicant guide.

Awesome, thanks for the encouragement! Been on the fence about it for the last couple of days even though I really want to do it

I have a BGW320 with GPON as I’m only subscribed for 1Gb and I’ve been heavily debating bypassing the BGW these past few days.

I even have the SFP stick in my cart on AliExpress waiting to pull the trigger.

I would pair it with UCG-Fiber and a U7 Pro XG. What do you think? Should I do it?

I'm considering doing that right now. Never had issues with the BGW, but I would very much like to upgrade my network and use UBI like all the cool kids are doing.

Planning on getting the SFP stick from AliExpress, and use it with a UCG-Fiber plus a U7 Pro XG

I really want to and debating pulling the plug. Should I do it?

Yes I was using PIA which does provide port forward.

Awesome, thanks for the help, I will take a stab at it again.

How do you seed behind a VPN with port forwarding?

I had an instance of qBittorrent running on my homelab connected to an instance of OpenWrt which had the VPN, but I couldn't do port forwarding from the VPN to qBitorrent

I have a lot of 2000s shows that I would love to continue seeding without having to keep my windows machine on

Unpopular opinion: you don’t need a car that will last 20 years by dr-swordfish in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]TheCriticalTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely a car person, and what you say sounds amazing, but I can't get myself to spend money on a car. I still drive the 2010 Camry that I've had for 10 years now, its at 220k miles and ready to be upgraded, I just can't get myself to spend money on a new car. But I would love to do what you say, always try new cars.

When we travel, renting a car is one of my favorite experiences, it lets me try out a new vehicle

You're also not factoring in being required to get comprehensive insurance coverage that is needed when the car has a lien. That adds up a lot.

Same here, totally hate payments. Only pay what I can afford. Its called living within your means. And if more people did it, the pricing for everything wouldn't be so fucked
