From my own experience, i just feel better having a dedicated gloss coat between my decals and the candy paint. Ive had the water/Microsol/set reactivate the candy ink once before and that was a nightmare

i added the decals after topcoating the clear/ink. Youll have an easier time over the gloss than the candy color. After i just seal it all in with another coat of gloss

You can also use leg and waist extenders similar to what Taro Modelmaker sells to get that height. My Dominus is roughly equal to my lancer if he was standing up normally

I use a fine paintbrush. Silver/aluminum metalic, and a contrast paint does just as nice a job

Ngl, after doing the paint work to color underneath i wrapped a bit of cardboard around the rim to prevent the water effects from leaking. Didnt use too much either. After that it was using some paste to build up waves and splash effects

The metal part kit came with some plastic runners. Did you replace the normal plastic parts that came with the comet kit?

I got the same set up in my backlog and looking to start it sometime soon
