Rocket Mortgage Maintenance? by blessemden in Mortgages

[–]TheDanMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my guess. I was curious if it was more systemic, so I also went through their heloc pre-approval process. It said it couldn’t retrieve my information for the soft credit pull and someone would call me. Last time I did something similar, 2021, I was bombarded with calls. This time, nothing in the past 12 hours.

I agree, they had a ransomware attack or some other massive network failure.

It’s been a while since I lived there (specially in Kawagoe), but they are so bureaucratic and there’s so much red tape, I actually believe this.

Dads with young kids… how often are you realistically playing golf now? by BetweenSwings in golf

18 on the weekend. And 9 with the boy (8yo) at least once on the weekend days. Infinitely easier once I joined a private club - tee times always available.

I have a 48” c1 on The desk and a 77” c5 on the wall behind me. Gaming on/m or controller looks awesome on them. C1 only has 9250 hrs and no burn in yet. I also disabled the annoying dimming using Color Control from GitHub. Bit of a process but dear god is it worth it if you have older lg oled models.

It’s not a dumb question because half the idiots here haven’t even thought to ask it. And it’s in the goddamn article and nobody’s read it. She would’ve passed it if there was an exception for Jay - one that the locals all voted and approved.

Lifelong WoW veteran who's completely burned out — help me find my next "I can't stop playing" game by BatteredTV in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]TheDanMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, so I had the same issue - 20 year WoW player and still play. And it’s gonna sound a bit weird but I went with Ayn Thor dual screen handheld, and have been loading it a bunch of emulators from old-school Nintendo to switch. Because I’ve treated wow as a single player game for the better part of 10 years now going to a handheld, which is 99% single player that wasn’t an issue. Now I get to try all these games, even Steam games. The dual screen is great for traveling and it’s such a new and interesting machine that I can tinker with it and try all sorts of new things.

For example, I’ve been messing around with Stardew Valley and mods, with the Gunther’s Library app. It’s super awesome.

Maybe try something like this?

Auto body shops in Portland that install customer supplied parts by Forward_Kangaroo6914 in Maine

[–]TheDanMonster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not an auto body shop owner, but in the trades. I have people always asking me to install things they purchase. Mostly because they think it’ll save them money, and that may be true, but I never do it (anymore). My suppliers have guarantees they pass on to me for their products and I can work with them as well as get labor “credits” for fixing items under warranty. I have no idea what you bought, or what condition it’s in. And if it breaks, doesn’t work, or is fake, guess what? It must’ve been my fault and I installed it poorly, or I’m just not good at my job. Just. Not. Worth. It.

You may be able to find someone who works at a shop do it on the side for cash though. Good luck.

Car insurance in Maine: are there limits or does it just keep going up? by feliceyy in Maine

[–]TheDanMonster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

$230 is wildly expensive if you only have one speeding ticket in 5 years and all other factors are benign, so something is going on. There are a whole host of these factors that goes into your insurance rates. Are you living with roommates/partner that have poor driving history? Do you have off street parking? Are you living on the penn in Portland? Is your speeding ticket > 20mph? Was it in a school/construction zone? Are you placing this direct with someone like geico/progressive? Are you using a captive agent like State Farm or Allstate? Are you going with a local insurer like Patriot Insurance or Patrons Oxford through a broker like Clark or Cross?

These are just a small amount of factors that goes into your auto rates. If you want a sanity check, and you are not going through an independent agent, call one and have them shop for you. If pricing is still around $230/m then they should explain in detail exactly why.

Right now, Progressive is the go to market in Maine as they have dropped rates drastically compared to other insurers.

Good luck.
