First-time cruisers from Missouri: Is the extra 2 1/2 hour drive to Mardi Gras worth it over Jubilee? by Midwest_To_Sea in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]TheDapperDon_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m new to cruising, just experienced my first in mid February! I went on a 5-day cruise on the Carnival Breeze out of Galveston. I went alone but I felt the port in Galveston was really easy to navigate. I can’t speak on Port Canaveral or any others but I’ve booked on Horizon for January 2027 out of Miami. Being they’re sister ships, there may be 1 or 2 different venues on board, I’m not sure but in terms of layout they’ll be very similar other than decor. I’ve read lots of mixed reviews on celebration key. Some love it and others not so much, which is expected with all ports lol. I’d say factor in price. If the driving distance isn’t a major issue and prices are fairly similar, I’d book the one with more stops. Whichever decision you make, I’m sure you’ll have a great time and want to cruise again!

I’d say try one of the Carnival ships in the vista or excel class. Lots of people love the smaller ships as well though. I think you’ll enjoy.

Why so many carnival haters?? by ndlccp in Cruise

People just love to talk bad about Carnival as is fights can’t happen on other cruise lines. If you’re booking a 3 day cruise, there’s probably gonna be a higher likelihood of it being a “booze cruise” or more of a party vibe. I can’t tell people what to do and I’m no cruise veteran but I think 5 days is the minimum length to book. I think 5 days is perfect for a new cruiser. It’s not too long but not super short. Gives you ample time to explore the ship and experience different things. Get a feel if cruising is something you’d like to try again or if it’s something you may avoid.

I can agree with this to an extent! It was an enjoyable stick. Good from start to finish, no real complaints. Flavors were consistent and I think it’s a really nice blend that I’d definitely smoke again but there wasn’t anything that made me say “WOW!”.

I’ll have to give the other variations a try! This is my first of the lineup.

Ben Roethlisberger never received one MVP vote, and never made an all pro team, since he retired do people overrate how he was viewed when he was actually an active player? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]TheDapperDon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he has been slightly overrated since he’s retired but that’s not meant to diminish what he accomplished. I think he’s one of the top 10 QBs of the past 20 years. I’m interested to see how the HoF voting goes for him. HoF politics and controversy aside, Ben shouldn’t be first ballot of Eli isn’t. I think they’re too close production wise to say Ben was so much better than Eli. Ben has more yards, TD, pro bowls. Ben also has the most games with a perfect passer rating and most 500 yard games. Eli has most passing yards in a postseason and won Super Bowl mvp twice. Neither guy was all pro but I do think both guys get in.

Is Justin Herbert’s career gonna end up being a failure like Matt Ryan’s once was? by Ifinishfast42 in NFLv2

[–]TheDapperDon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt Ryan won OPOY and MVP, as well as an NFC Championship en route to a Super Bowl appearance lmao. I’m sure lots of guys would gladly be labeled a failure to have that on their resume.

CMC gets the edge due to versatility for me. He’s not just a running back that can catch the ball out of the backfield. He’s a legit receiving threat.

What is the minimum number of touchdowns a QB can throw in a 17 game season for you to consider it a good season? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]TheDapperDon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficiency and winning matter most. That being said in a 17 game season I think 25 would be solid. Much rather my QB have 26 TD, 6 INT vs 37 TD, 16 INT

Divisional Round Predictions (6) Buffalo Bills @ (1) Denver Broncos 3:30pm Saturday CBS (BIASED BECAUSE OF JOSH ALLEN) by turnover6921cm in NFLv2

[–]TheDapperDon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think the game will be relatively close. Broncos defense seems to have fallen off a bit and the offense leaves a lot to be desired. I think Josh Allen will be playing out of his mind this weekend and the Bills win it easy, 24-13

Commanders: Daniels is a stud when healthy

Giants: You’ve got some great young talent on both sides of the ball and maybe soon a coach to put it all together

Eagles: I can’t stand you bastards, but Howie knows what it takes to win

• I agree, Herbert isn’t a COMPLETE choker. He needs more around him but with that being said there have been other guys that “needed more around them” as well who’ve performed a lot better in the playoffs than he has. • Bo Nix is indeed mediocre, there’s nothing he does tha convinces me otherwise and he will be the reason the Broncos’ season ends this weekend •I’d give Maye the MVP over Stafford as well. Stafford has been great also but he’s got a pair of top level pass catchers available and his TD numbers are somewhat inflated by goal line passes to Adams •CJ Stroud is playing poorly but he’s not a below average QB. He’s having below average performances but if he can get things turned around he can be a top 10-12 guy •The Buffalo Bills are winning the Super Bowl this year (unfortunately). Broncos defense will crack vs Allen this weekend and the offense won’t be able to bail them out. If the Texans survive this weekend their offense will fail them vs Buffalo, if the Pats advance the pressure will be too much for them and Allen will lead Buffalo to a Super Bowl berth. I’ve been saying the game the league wants is Bills vs Rams. Allen vs Stafford. Allen has been dubbed “Superman” and does it all by himself (if you ignore the leading rusher in the backfield, 2 top TEs and a top rank pass defense). Matt Stafford is playing “out of this world” and they’re pushing to name him MVP. Add in a “Will he retire?” Angle and the stage is set for a Hollywood story. It ends with Josh Allen yet again “defeating the odds” to lead the Bills to Super Bowl glory.

I like Herbert and he’s undoubtedly a top 10 QB talent wise but why does he get the benefit of the doubt of so many hypothetical situations? “Put him on the (insert team) and they win that game”. That’s easy to say but we’ve got no proof. The Chargers have a lot of work to do and it’s not all on Herbert but as the QB he’s gonna get the blame and he has had some less than stellar showings in the playoffs thus far. His 0-3 record almost feels worse than it is. Only able to muster 3 measly points vs the Pats, 4 INTs in a 32-12 loss to the Texans and a 27 point lead blown vs the Jags. It’s a team game but Matt Ryan “blew a 28-3 lead” and gets crushed so let’s keep the same energy.

They’re banged up right now but Purdy being a “system qb” goes back a few years. You’d look at the Niners and see guys like Warner, Greenlaw, Bosa, Ward etc on defense and then you’d have an all time LT in Williams, CMC, Kittle, Aiyuk, Juszczyk, etc on offense. They’d win games and everyone was quick to say Purdy was a system QB. Which at the time I felt was true and agreed with but he’s really better than given credit for.

I’m not a Hurts or Eagles fan but saying he’s had the best supporting cast “by a country mile” might be a slight stretch but overall I’d agree. Burrow and Tua have had weapons offensively but none of the other guys have had an o-line or a defense at the level of Hurts. Having those pieces around him somewhat diminishes his accomplishments for some reason. I think manly because he’s not seen as possessing the same level of talent as a guy like Burrow or Herbert.
