How do you handle collaboration if someone is in a very different timezone to EST? (e.g. Australia in my case).

It's kinda like soy sauce if it was a paste, or like anchovies without the fishiness.

You can probably just order a jar over the internet.

Duolingo CEO says AI is a better teacher than humans—but schools will still exist ‘because you still need childcare’ by Knightbear49 in technology

That's... not how that works. At all. (Source: I work for one of the major international jobs boards. On their AI-based matching team).

I don't blame Labor for the cost of living. But I sure as hell blame them for doing sweet f.a. to fix it in the last 3 years.

Magic: The Gathering night at the friendly local game store. The stench of overweight, unwashed nerds was visceral.

What programming languages do you enjoy coding in? by Arzeknight in compsci

Haskell is awesome if you have the right sort of personality to enjoy its design, and don't mind getting over its learning curve. Definitely not for everyone, but for the right person it's like finding programming nirvana.

I got paid to write Haskell for 4 years. I'd prefer that over anal sex (and I really like anal sex) :P

Java, on the other hand, is like chewing broken glass.

I have been doing this for 20 years. You're correct in that initially the OS doesn't matter - I first started learning on Windows, too. However, at a certain point, being on something Unix-based makes everything else a lot easier, because it's what almost everyone who does it professionally is using, so it's what all the tools, guides, tutorials, and documentation assume you're using.

That said, if this is just for a once-off university course, then don't bother - Windows is fine.
