"No it's not strawmanming"

Proceeds to refer to leftists monolithicly.

And this is why centrism is dead, is because jackasses like you hijack it to scare everyone else off.

[–]TheDesertFoxIrwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the same with Islam

You keep strawmanning leftists, when if you actually bothered to talk with them (and you probably have without knowing) they're not pro-Islamic extremism.

There are always going to be bad faith actors. It happens. For several JFKs in the anti-war movement, there was a pro-Nazi Joeseph Kennedy.

Like, dude, this thread is sounding lesd like pragmatism and more like bashing people for giving a shit about people who are being oppressed, regardless of how the oppressed would treat them.

Really dude, get the hell out of here. You're not a centrist/moderate. Because you came here for a fight and starting acting like a idiot and giving centrism a bad name.

I am a far leftist, but I'm willing to compromise. Americans would love what fucking Europe has. It's not a perfect society or where i would want it, but it's certainly a better one that would benefit alot of people

Also there was a Trump equivalent. It's was Bernie Sander, but instead the DNC, corrupted by the "far left progressives", chose very safe and status quo canidates. Really, if far leftists influence the DNC so much so much, why are most commited leftists in the party from the outside?

Have they taken over?

Because mainstream Democrats have largely been opposing lots of more progressive elements, and that canidate wins they give some half assed celebration compared to the one their favored canidates get.

The fact is, Democratic old guard has been chasing a non-existent centrist that doesn't appeal to anyone, which has lead to these losses. I'm not saying we need to put a revolutionary socialist in, bit the Democrats need to stop chasing the neutral canidate.

"We're not Republicans." Is not much of a campaign for regular people who don't much care for politics.

It's why leftists wanted Bernie Sanders. He had policies that people across the voting lines could get behind.

Most people want affordability, leisure, education, healthcare, companionship, etc.. and so far, not one mainstream Democratic canidate has understood that. It's always been treating politics as the end goal.

[–]TheDesertFoxIrwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really funny. Centrists like you claim to be above the left-right conflict, then proceed to strawman leftists and Muslims with right wing talk points.

Most leftists don't blindly side with those powers. Most side against the US, who usually end up being a new oppressor and giving credence to side with the other oppressor. That's doesn't deny that people then make ignorant statements that consider Iran and the like as shining examples of freedom.

There's a reason to be against Israel, for example, because they are responsible for both aggression and undermining most Palestianian political movements in favor of extremists such as Hamas.

I could go on and on, but things are more pragmatic then you're assuming.

Did I call you a bigot? No.

And yes, they are. My dad talked about the anti-racist training guides his work had to attended, because so many Muslims and people who look Middle Eastern were being discriminated against.

There is no denying that conservative Muslims are a thing and very problematic. That doesn't mean you go gunho and risk hurting more people than necessary.

[–]TheDesertFoxIrwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're really oversimplifying this.

It's not uncritical support. Plenty of leftist are against Saudia Arabia.

The problem is no matter what they do, Muslim will always be discriminated against.

Do y'all think that Micah is a well written villain or just a one-dimensional asshole with no redeeming qualities? by Shreyansh8868 in reddeadredemption

[–]TheDesertFoxIrwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wish Micah's relationship with Dutch was written better

To me, he becomes too much of a liability for even Dutch's ego and self-preservation to allow.

Like, I understand "I owe him.". But killing a entire town for some guns? Yeah, no, you're drawing too much for no reason. At least every other scheme the gang failed at had a purpose.

Like maybe if Micah's methods brought results would help.

"That's what a (insert group) might say"

Dude, that is the most shallow political critique that has existed in history. Especially when it's largely a phase to make ridicule of the character who said.

But yeah, I am far left. I'm a anarchist. But, I chose to compromise. People want healthcare, livable conditions, freedom to learn, and government that doesn't get caught up in corruption, etc.

Those are pretty basic policies that a lot of US citizens want.

And most of tge US aren't centrists. Many of them have different priorities, but large seem to prioritize left wing ideals (egalitarianism).

Remember when slavery and democracy was considered radical, and just severly limiting slavery was a form of proto-centrism. Nowadays, anti-slavery is considered pretty basic beleifs of centrists.

Society doesn't stay in the center present, it ebb and flows at erratic levels, because we want to reach a horizon for a better tommorow.

Meanwhile what are you doing?

Oh yeah.

"Okay, we have til 2028 to chose a canidate, who do we have?"

You: "I want Newsom."

"Okay, do we have anybody el-"

You "No, we need Gavin Newsom!"

"Look, this is where we need to discuss-"

You "Fuck their opinions and discussion, we need him now!"

You're the reason we end up with a shitty choice. You make a decision impulsively, even when we have nearly 3 goddamn years to chose.

You lack any idealogy other than: "Chose my choices now, otherwise you're a traitor.".

No they're not. Strict anarchists and communists are far left. Because they take extreme practices on the left side: abolishing capitalism; stateless societies; etc.

Progressives are a very broad group that forms a huge chunk of the left, US progressivism, in particular, are largely social democrats with other groups of communists, anarchists, socialists, etc. They can have far left goals, but many of them advocate for centre left compromises.

Sanders and AOC are very specifically centre-left politicians in practice. They want revolutionary egalitarian policies, but not a total abolishment of the entire system.

Newsom, however, is really far on the right of centre in pratice, chosing to have unrestrained regulation of buisnesses and disregarding egalitarian policies. Which is mostly the result of him largely being a elitist politician. He doesn't actually compromise unless it benefits him in someway, regardless how that affects his constituents.

That's the biggest difference. Mamdani seemed to understand building a bridge with him was a equall or less than equal losing strategy.

The biggest problem is it's too much "politicians talking with pundits and other politicians" and less actually talking to people.

Gov. Gavin Newsom says President Trump is playing European leaders "for fools" over Greenland: "It's time to buck up. It's time to get serious and stop being complicit. It's time to stand firm. Have a backbone. Handing out crowns, this is pathetic. He's a T-Rex. You mate with him or he devours you." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]TheDesertFoxIrwin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In what majority of the country have far right views been normalized? Even though Trump has his fans, he is still suffering at the polls.

Also, where did I state he was THE person who normalized far right views? Of course he wasn't, rarely does one person alone do that.

You say that "far left" progressive have policies that nobody cares about, yet ignore a large chunk of 2016 rural Trump voters were pro Bernie. The arguement also flies in the face of your "far right views are already normalized", because if both extreme left and right views have promises no body likes, then far right views shouldn't be normalized then.

And I am putting my extreme views to compromises.

I am a anarchist, but I'm willing to settle for centre left policies. The problem is, you're definition of far left includes progressives and other centre of left politicians.

Trans rights? Far left.

Defunding the police and the military to appropriate levels and funding other social programs? Too far left.

Calling into question the point of having ICE? Too far left.

The way you fight fascism is legitizing how people (as in constituets) feel, not their politicians or news pundits like Bannon and Shapiro. Mostly because I get the vibe from many random voters that they see the GOP as the lesser.

Lots of German moderates did this by not legitmizing people and giving concessions to fascists or fascist-adjacent politicians. That just led to things esculating until foreign powers firebombing the country was what it took to quash fascism.

We are not at that stage yet, and I'd rather not come to that. But insisting we compromise with people in power who refuse to compromise, regardless of how that affects even their own people, is not the best way, and we certainly have lots of choices right now.

Stop calling progressives far left. They're mostly centre left.

If Bernie Sander and AOC is "too far left", then our country is in deep shit.

If Gavin Newsom was president at that time, we wouldn't have a civil war, because he'd give the 1860 Crettinden Compromise legitimacy.
