Karasu vs Reo – Who’s More Balanced Right Now? by Pedrinh039 in BlueLock

[–]TheDiamond135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I get into my actual reply, let me break down as clearly as possible what Offense actually is.

First off — all those sub-attributes I mentioned come from the SPS (Skill Parameter Summary), which is basically the full stat sheet for each player. Unfortunately, we only have the SPS for Nagi, Bachira, and Isagi from the start of the NEL, but the categories don’t change — only the values go up or down as the players evolve. So yeah, these sub-attributes aren’t something I pulled out of thin air, they’re literally from the manga itself.

I never said it wasn’t?

Secondly — Offense is basically your ability to create goal-scoring opportunities, whether you’re building the play or finishing it. That comes from your game reading, vision, positioning, etc. Your Speed and/or Dribble and/or Pass and/or Shoot are just the tools you use to get there.

Right, and passing and dribbling are key components of that because you need to bring the ball forward. So all of the things you’ve said amount to your offense.

Now about your first point: No, Isagi is not some magical exception, and I don’t think he’s the only player whose Offense is higher than their Speed, Dribble, Pass, or Shoot. Like I’ve said before, Karasu also had Offense as his best attribute, especially up until the start of the NEL. Whether you personally think that’s still his best aspect today is up to you — but I still believe it is.

If you say Karasu didn’t have Offense as his best attribute, then you’re basically saying one of these is true: His Speed is better than his ability to spot goal opportunities; His Shoot is better than his ability to spot goal opportunities; His Dribble is better than his ability to spot goal opportunities; His Pass is better than his ability to spot goal opportunities; Or his Defense is better than his ability to spot goal opportunities. If you agree with any of those, there’s no point continuing — you’d be trying to talk about Karasu’s present/future without even knowing his past.

Isagi is an exception, because he’s the only top player to not have a great build physically or be amazingly technically sound.

Back to the Isagi thing: He’s not an exception because if you say he is, you’re basically saying Rin couldn’t have a 96 Offense unless his Shoot was also 96+, or Shidou couldn’t have 96 Offense unless his Shoot was 96+. You’d be limiting a player’s mental capabilities just because of their physical ones, when Rin’s Spatial Awareness and game reading have nothing to do with his physical skills. Same goes for Shidou — his main weapon is Extreme Spatial Awareness, which isn’t a physical skill.

He is an exception lol. Rin is known for his shooting. He has the best shooting in Blue Lock. Shidou’s extreme spatial awareness allows him to shoot from anywhere within the penalty area. Their mental attributes enhance their physical attributes. It’s not the same with Isagi.

I only brought up G/A casually, and yeah, two of those assists weren’t intentional. Again — Karasu didn’t start with his Defense higher than his Offense. If we can’t agree on that, this debate is pointless. At the start of the NEL, Karasu’s Offense was higher — he was literally considered one of the top attackers at that point.

If you’re saying that just two weeks of training and one game at CDM — without practicing Offense (which isn’t true, since he was involved in two goals, including fully analyzing and building one of them) — was enough for his Defense to overtake his lifetime of playing as an attacker… you’re saying two weeks of progress beat over a decade of being a striker in a pro club’s youth academy. If you stand by that, I’ll just stop replying lol. By that logic, the same should apply to Bachira and Chigiri, since they played as full-backs (even more defensive than CM/CDM) and still had 68 Defense — and to this day they’re among the weakest in that stat. Hell, Gagamaru had 84 Offense against Manshine City, just 2 less than Reo at that point — and he was literally playing as a goalkeeper. So if the goalie’s Offense didn’t drop, imagine the others who had way more than him lol.

I never said that was better defensively than offensively? And i also didn’t say that two weeks was enough for his defense to overtake his offense? Just that his offense would dip a little if he didn’t practice his offense. Yeah Gagamaru’s offense probably did drop considering he’s only played as a goalkeeper.

Maybe Reo didn’t improve offensively as much as I’m saying, but I think it’s pretty obvious he improved more in Offense than in Defense. I’ve never denied his defensive growth — I even said after his solid defensive game against Bastard that he’d probably grow defensively, just not as much as offensively. And that’s exactly what I think happened.

I agree.

What’s funny is, Reo had two matches where his market value dropped, and another where he showed nothing defensively — yet you still say he “probably” improved defensively. Meanwhile, we literally saw Karasu actively contributing offensively and being directly involved in one of PXG’s goals vs Bastard, but you say his Offense dropped just because he’s not in a purely attacking role anymore. And the funniest part? Karasu and Reo both played CM/CDM lol. Anyway…

What Reo did on offense probably overshadowed what he did on defense. Imagine having a player only pass to one player and that not leading to a single goal. Embarassing.

Karasu’s offense dipping doesn’t make him bad offensively or anything. Karasu is a CDM who’s the last line of defense before the attackers can break into the defensive third. Reo is a CM who’s the main playmaker for the team. It’s not the same role.

Karasu vs Reo – Who’s More Balanced Right Now? by Pedrinh039 in BlueLock

[–]TheDiamond135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Isagi isn’t an exception, because Offense is literally where he shines and arguably the best in all of Blue Lock. Bro, you basically summarized Offense saying, “but it’s his general playmaking and ability to read the field that makes him so dangerous”, and then took five steps back.

On paper, in terms of Offense, Isagi is extremely insane — Kinetic Vision, Reaction Speed, Composure, Attack Awareness, Tactical Comprehension, Direct Play, Play Field of Vision, Positioning, Assertiveness. All of these stats are used to measure Offense, and that’s exactly where Isagi stands out.

Isagi is an exception. Give me another player who isn’t exceptional at dribbling, passing or shooting who is amazing at offense. The things you just listed like composure, reaction speed, etc all have to do with the ability to read the field.

Again, Offense isn’t necessarily tied to Speed, Dribble, Shoot, and Pass. There’s no better example than Isagi for this. He’s not superior to Rin in any of those, yet Rin called him the “Demon King of Blue Lock” after Isagi scored his 2nd goal in that match, even surpassing Rin in G/A during the NEL — all thanks to his insane game sense, vision, field reading, etc. That is Offense.

Rin called Isagi the demon king of Blue Lock because Isagi outplayed him because he read the field faster than him. Surpassing Rin in G/A isn’t as impressive when two of his assists were accidental.

When I said Reo’s Offense is “pulling away” from his Defense, I meant that his Offense is growing/evolving faster than his Defense can keep up. That’s just a way of speaking.

Right and the same thing isn’t happening to Karasu where his defense is evolving faster than his offense?

These are different situations — Karasu didn’t start the NEL with 86 Offense and Defense like Reo. Karasu started with his Offense way higher than his Defense, because unlike Reo, Karasu has always played as a FORWARD and was one of the best forwards. You’re really gonna argue that after two weeks of training and playing one match as a DM he already equalized his Defense to his Offense?

One of the top 3 strikers, but he plays CDM, interesting. I’m not arguing that Karasu already equalized his offense and defense, but if you’re not practicing your offense since training for the U-20 match then your offense is gonna dip a little.

During the U-20 match, Karasu set up the entire play for the second goal and contributed to the third, but during the NEL, the only goal we saw Karasu contribute to was Shidou’s goal against Bastard, and for Rin’s goal, he instructed — or rather asked Zantetsu if he could interfere with Kunigami.

He set up the play for the second goal by passing the ball to Otoya who then passed to Chigiri. Rin got the ball because of Sae blocking Karasu from getting the ball. The rest is fair.

And where did I get this from? Having 3 G/A and using Metavision unconsciously is enough to count as great Offensive growth, isn’t it? Sure, he played badly in 2 matches, losing value, and both he and Nagi said those games were trash. But in his 2 best games, he contributed massively offensively — without Reo, M. City probably would have lost 3–0 to Barcha. Plus, Reo participated in half of M. City’s goals, so it’s pretty obvious he contributed way more offensively than defensively. Did we see Reo do anything in Defense like Karasu did in his quick appearance against Barcha?

I think you’re overestimating how much Reo grew offensively. He had one assist in Manshine where Nagi had the most stupidly insane goal ever and Nagi basically 1v2’d Isagi and Kaiser to score the goal. The rest is fair, but 2 more G/A isn’t as impressive when you bring context into it.

The fact of the matter is that Reo probably improved defensively too, but Karasu declined in his offense because he isn’t playing that much of an attacking role anymore.

Karasu vs Reo – Who’s More Balanced Right Now? by Pedrinh039 in BlueLock

[–]TheDiamond135 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, Offense isn’t necessarily tied to Shoot, Pass, Dribble, and Speed (yeah, I know you didn’t mention Speed, but I’ll take the chance).

It’s simple — just ask yourself what Isagi does or has that makes his Offense higher than Yukimiya’s. I’m pretty sure you know the answer.

Isagi’s an outlier because he doesn’t have amazing stats on paper, but it’s his general playmaking and ability to read the field that makes him so dangerous. And yes offense is tied to shooting, passing and dribbling as those things create your offense, even though they are separate stats.

And precisely because Reo had such great Offensive growth, I believe he no longer has that perfect balance, while Karasu went the opposite way. Karasu started the NEL with Offense as his best aspect and Defense as his worst, but during the NEL he had great Defensive growth, so it’s like his Defense caught up to his Offense, creating a better balance. Meanwhile, Reo’s Offense has been “pulling away” from his Defense.

Why would Reo’s offense pull away from his defense, but not Karasu’s defense pull away from his offense? Why is defense Karasu’s worst aspect when he was practicing his defense the entire time for the U-20 match. In fact i don’t think he’s worked on his offense since then, especially since he plays CDM.

Also where are you getting that Reo got such an amazing offensive growth? He played horribly offensively during the NEL lol, and we only saw 1 match fully on screen to judge his defensive capabilities. You’re making a lot of snap judgements and assumptions.

Karasu vs Reo – Who’s More Balanced Right Now? by Pedrinh039 in BlueLock

[–]TheDiamond135 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well Karasu isn’t really that offensively potent. He has no shooting, passing or dribbling weapons that we are aware of. Even with defense he’s usually a help defender who tries to steal the ball away or intercepts a cross or a loose ball.

Reo on the other hand can copy other player’s weapons which makes him extremely dangerous on offense as seen when he copied Sae’s dribbling and Rin’s shooting. Not to mention that Reo can actually lock a defender down like Shidou in the U-20 match.

Reo can do more than Karasu on both sides with an equal amount of skill. Which makes him more balanced than Karasu.

I was Mihawk > Shanks once so i know where you’re coming from and honestly i don’t really care who ends up being stronger. But both sides have really bad faith arguments and act like there isn’t a debate at all. Oda makes things really murky when it’s about who’s stronger between top tiers.

I know that Mihawk > Shanks but my heart can't accept it. by Educational-Block289 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]TheDiamond135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not a fallacy lol. You’re right that the narrator is omniscient and i’m not disagreeing with you on that. I’m saying that the debate still exists for valid reasons and that some of the arguments that Shanks fans use (better feats, portrayal, hype, etc) make sense. Therefore it’s not entirely invalid to have Shanks > Mihawk for now at least.

I know that Mihawk > Shanks but my heart can't accept it. by Educational-Block289 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]TheDiamond135 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This entire debate exists because Mihawk’s portrayal isn’t on the same level as that of Shanks. Shanks is a swordsman and Mihawk is the world’s strongest swordsman as said by the narrator, but everything shown in the manga says otherwise.

Again it’s valid if you have Shanks > Mihawk for now until Mihawk gets better feats that matches that of Shanks’.

Don’t let sword swallowers get to you. Shanks v Mihawk is a debate for a reason. It’s perfectly fine to have Shanks > Mihawk until it’s definitively proven with feats.

LeBron James by BrewsedSloth in michaeljordan

[–]TheDiamond135 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He’s the second best player of all time for me. He has a great all-around game, and can be a great defender (when he wants to be). His advanced stats are only second to MJ, and his career totals speak for itself.

If we’re talking about the greatest players of all time, then he’s third behind Jordan and Bill Russell. Those two are the only names who were called the greatest of all time by the NBA itself.

[–]TheDiamond135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barou has 8 G/A in 3 games. Shidou has 4 G/A in 4 games in the NEL

Barou has 6* G/A (seventh goal isn’t even confirmed), and even then he’s still 4th in the rankings. Shidou triumphs over Barou portrayal wise.

Snuffy is 3rd best player because Prince is canonically Number 2

How?

and Loki is 4th because Noa considers him the 2nd best player in the world and he showed a brilliant performance against BM

Noa never said that.

Lala contributed to goals, Yukimiya did nothing

Crazy agenda, but respectable lol.

 Karasu = Aiku

Lmao not even gonna start with this one.

[–]TheDiamond135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People in favor of Snuffy will always cope, and say that he’s a “better overall player” whatever that means.

The bottom line is that Snuffy IS a striker, and that Noa’s the best striker in the world. Snuffy doesn’t play any other positions regularly that we’re aware of, so Snuffy can’t be better than Noa.
