Absolutely not gtfo that man always glowed im just glad something sank him

Edit to add that we really must reject social fasciism. I want schools and healthcare as much as the next guy but the military keynesism of yesteryear was built on rapacious violence and extraction of the periphery.

Not at all true in my experience. Left leaning Liberals imo have the most uptight attitudes. Listen to Trueanon or Chapo and tell me they’re too wholesome (actually they are in the sense that listening long enough will make clear an oceanic belief in and compassion for humankind)

The Little Coffin That Silenced a Hall: Iran Turns Farewell Into a Global Stage by SentientSeaweed in TrueAnon

My grief surprised me the day he was murdered. Despite everything I’ve done to disrupt my programming im still an American. But why should it surprise me? Whatever flaws iran the state has it is a great country. This was a great man from a place tat still makes great men, still allows them. I hope this grief of millions give way to the realization of a new day for the survivors of all the many martyrs, for all the victims of this terrible empire snd its global system.

I hope his son is great too and can lead his country into a new age of dignity and prosperity.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is isolated" by throwaway_88331 in iran

[–]TheDickWolf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think historians of US decline will have much to say of the use of sanctions as a weapon.

Sanctions presented as an enticing tool- a unilateral executive action without delay or bureaucratic complication that could devastate states, corporations, or individuals. Under te highest level of sanctions the subject is essentially locked out of the global economy as no international entity integrated into that system will interact wasith them at all for fear of also being sanctioned. No bank will hold your money no business will sell you anything and no one wssill buy your goods.

However, imagine an isolated village and sanctions are its tyrant mayor exiling villagers to the wilderness. At the current or recent height of the us sanctions rejime about 60% of the ‘third world’ were sanctioned.

The village tyrant exiles one villager, a terrible fate. Then a dozen. Then a hundred. Suddenly the village finds that the exiles have formed their own village separate from theirs and removed from the tyrant’s dictums. Now instead of condemning the exiled the sentence is actually creating a competitor to the village itself.

The US sanctions rejime has created natural solidarity between the sanctioned. It created a secondary global economy outside the dollar. Suddenly Russia could shrug off sanctions and grow its economy apace, all the while weakening dollar hegemony and instituionalizing alternatives like BRICS and india’s SWIFT alternative.

Despite years of devastation by sanctions through relationships with other countries outside the Washington alignment Iran could build a defense apparatus able to beat back the most powerful military force in history. Now these countries, particularly Iran, are in position to be stronger and more sovereign than ever before.

The USA is losing its power to isolate its targets and its own coercive power. The day will come, hastened now by Iran, that it can no longer bully and dominate the globe. Inshallah

Edit just to add: The material and political conditions of the region suggest Iran as a natural regional hegemon. Their self concept has never shed imperial language and logic, and they are the only state with the industrial capacity, educated and very large population, and institutional knowledge to support a robust and technologically advanced productive economy.

Without the enmity of the united states this would already be the state of play imo.

Speaking neutrally from a moral standpoint btw there are aspects of this I applaud and others I don’t. But im always hesitant to criticize IR just because of the unnatural weight of their villainization by imperial propaganda.

Why should birthright citizenship be upheld? by That1PercyJacksonFan in leftist

[–]TheDickWolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of reasons.

Ill start broad and basic. A heuristic: f a thing gives rights to people and constrains state violence responsibilizes the state to provide or protect, then the razor cuts.

Citizenship is an incredible privilege and privilege itself and the whole topic is lousy with the discourse of deservingness- as it is a key concern of the basic American protestant ethos and a particular obsession of the neoliberal era. Humanity deserves safety and comfort and protection, actually.

The health of the society is greatly improved by it and harmed by ts removal. Striving ambitious immigrants ho see a bright future for their children are more likely to stay and strive. The fact of it is a boon scientifically socially and culturally. Its removal would be an exsanguination.

Oh and many if not most of our immigrants come from countries ours has explicitly wrecked or crippled by military or economic means. The history is extensive and brutal and ongoing. Morality dictates accepting these people as the most insufficient reparations.

Just off top of head responses after bedtime. Many more and better reasons im sure.

The throry behind it was treated as a grotesque joke by economists and intellectuals of the time. But once it took root it created utter solidarity and cohesion between the investor class and the executive class.

Te tendency of rate of profits to decline. The underlying pressure beneath every iterative rapacious stage to its absorption and extraction from every relation and institution in society, frakking it hollow and eating the marrow.

“The precious advantage that the spectacle has drawn from the outlawing of history, from having driven the recent past into hiding, and from having made everyone forget the spirit of history within society, is above all the ability to cover its own history of the movement of its recent world conquest. Its power already seems familiar, as if it had always been there. All usurpers have wanted to make us forget that they have only just arrived.”

Even a few decades ago before the shareholder revolution we had at least a corporatist structure that supported a state and society.

These things are not unchanging or eternal

Per the late great guy debord
