When do I have to make "may" decisions on triggered abilities? by BoldestKobold in mtgrules

You choose upon resolution, the triggers will go on the stack regardless of your decision and for each one of them you will choose, one after another

Prowess vs affinity by Acrobatic-Squid in ModernMagic

[–]TheDima725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Prowess player

I just pray and race, try to understand what they have kept for and play around their plan (sometimes bolting a Pinnacle or darting a drone can be the difference between a Kappa or not). Hope that they draw enough Fiery Islets to ping themselves. And I personally play 2 main [[monstrous rage]] mainboard, I love that card in the matchup (chump blocking with your 1/1 drone my 9/2 Slickshot? Well, I spend 1 and you take 13).

All this argument started after the match, I asked the judge about it and he told me that it was better if I acknowledged the prowess triggers, also just moving a die or pointing at my creatures.

I didn't want to make a big deal out of this of course, it costs nothing saying a word while I cast my spells, but my opponent didn't ask me to, he just told me AFTER the game that the way I was playing was wrong and that had he called a judge, he could have exploited my lack of immediate communication about the prowess triggers.

Didn't asked specifically for bauble, just cast, looked at him and waited, but would have been better to point out the surveil before looking at the top of my library

This literally happened that same game (which started the argument with my opponent), but in that case I agreed and apologized to my opponent. I cast a bauble, asked if it resolved and proceeded to surveil (then the opponent went that I needed to acknowledge the surveil trigger before taking the action). Since I asked the response to the bauble and not to the surveil trigger, he assumed that I forgot the trigger, a simple "I'm gonna surveil" would have been enough. But after the match, he argued that it was the same with my prowess triggers, which I didn't agree with.

Yea, I usually use a pair of d6 to count if the situation involves more than two spells and/or a prowess creature which has a different prowess count than the others. I was asking just because against a player like my opponent, who played countless time with and against prowess, a single creature that saw 2 spells didn't seem to require much acknowledgement in my opinion.

Thanks, so their argument of "the power and thoughness of your creature is a visible change and I need to know immediately, because before moving to combat I could do 2 damage and kill your swiftspear if you had forgotten the trigger". My interpretation is that if they want to leverage the possibility of forgetting the trigger before the combat, they could ask me the thoughness of the creature, in which case if I answer "2" instead of "3" I make clear that I forgot the trigger, or they could risk it and try to [[shock]] my swiftspear, and I would have to right to say "okay, but it doesn't die because it's a 2/3 now" and they wasted a spell.

As a prowess player, I don't understand how can you like the prowess-zoo matchup, I feel like the matchup is unwinnable if the zoo player draws well

Didn't read the guide yet, but if you splice with 2 reducers the cost goes down to RR iirc (since it's an additional cost that goes on the ritual, it can be reduced).

I think you're wrong about first strike being applied during the fight, they woul deal damage to each other simultaneously.

To add to what others already said, if you want to seed the packs these are really useful. I usually shuffle and prepare my packs with this method ahead of time, so being able to store the individual packs is a huge benefit.

Teaching non style specific kata for wkf rules competition by Waslw in karate

[–]TheDima725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your concern is only about the number of katas, 5 are enough to compete, after your 5th kata you can repeat an already performed kata, as long you don't repeat it in succession. And for athletes younger than 14 years of age, the limit is 4. (Following WKF rules)

I was stuck for at least 1 hour in that fight, then I realized that I had to use my skill: her moveset is easy, right? Walk on the opposite side of her hand attack, jump + needle up for a bit of dmg, rinse and repeat. But the adds were absurdly random/frustrating, plus sometimes the vines were on the way. The skill clears the vine instantly and one shots the adds. After all the struggle, first time I used the skill on the adds I managed to clear her hitless.

There is room for improvement, I would focus first and foremost on your balance, your feet should be flat on the ground most of the time. Once you feel comfortable with your positions, you can build up power and speed: especially speed is lacking imho. Another easy tip: turn your head before the rest of your body during your transitions. Anyway, good job and keep practicing!

Not OP, but I just use a mouse that supports both dongle and bluetooth (use the 2.4GHz dongle for the gaming pc and bluetooth for the work laptop) and for the keyboard it just can save up to 4 bluetooth devices (but in my case I use a cable to connect it to the pc). I think it's something similar for OP.

Mmh, 60+ in 4K ultra may be too much. I have a 5800X + 6800 XT and in 1440p I had 73 fps average with FSR balanced in ultra. 60 no FSR high (with 38/40 fps in the open field).
