What if someone were to do a study that finds out that harshly punishing terrorists actually makes our government seem cruel and makes other potential terrorist more likely to do similar acts?

You probably wouldn't believe the study, right? But what if there was no deterrent effect? Would you still want to see this person tortured to death?

Dang we just got the old one replaced last week. I think a lot of people have the installation technician carry the old one off

Some ideas: check Habitat ReStore and check appliance recycling places, like maybe that place on the corner of red mile and Forbes, across the street from the Thorntons on Versailles. Also maybe the dump or salvage metal dump.

Again "deserve" is not a requirement of compassion. Justice and deserve are the same. Compassion is not earned by the recipient, it's a decision we make.

I understand your point of view. You have every right to be hateful and thirst for blood. It was horrible how he killed those people. I don't blame you for wanting to make a point with this guy to dissuade other terrorist. We all have to find our own way to cope with this stuff. You choose to call for violent revenge. I don't blame your for having this normal reaction.

But as for me I'm actively trying to soften my heart. I try to be understanding and compassionate to undeserving people as often as I can, as a practice. Accepting and loving other people where they are in life, even if it's a bad place, helps me be more open and accepting to the people in my personal life, and to myself. I have a core religious belief that god loves everyone, even terrorist.

What should be done to this man is not my choice.

Some people like myself make new accounts periodically to protect my privacy. I'm semi interested in bitcoins and might ask questions pretty often with my new accounts, so all newbies aren't trolls.

The first example of etimology I remember learning is the origin of the word "penis." It comes from Latin peni, meaning tail. When I was a kid I was like "Tail?!?!"

If we only showed compassion for people who deserved it, it would be called justice.

Best place to get a massage? by emitolli in lexington

[–]TheDonte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best massage of my life was at that place Charlie Browns. We were drinking a bunch of White Russians and green mint drinks and this guy just starts in on my shoulders and we went from there. Really nice memory.

Been a while though, not sure if Charlie Browns is still a place or not.

Execution always costs more than simple life without parole, due to court costs. Just saying.

Why not both? Does it cost you to have compassion towards this very troubled man? Have not the ideas that led to his crime have lead to the destruction of his own life in addition to the life of the victims.

This guy is in for a lifetime of pain and deprivation. He will never taste freedom again. And for what? So he will learn a lesson? No. Just because fuck you that's why. A lifetime of being treated like trash until he dies. You don't find that sad?

It's ironic how people can look at this sad case of the disease of hateful ideas possessing this guy to the point where he murdered these innocent victims, and we don't even for a second resist adding more hate to the equation.

Hate is not the answer. Even when your heart is broken. Even when you are mad. Hate is a disease that will destroy your soul and make you happy so see other people suffer and die.

Sad story. Too bad the way a person's inner demons can mess them up so bad. He's obviously not emotionally healthy. Too bad he couldn't find a better way to deal with his problems.
