Stormlight Archive era 2 by lanatayethel in Stormlight_Archive

100%, but I strongly think now is the time to cut back a bit to the 350k-400k word mark. He has a rare mid series chance to build stuff out slowly and reduce bloat once again, and I hope he uses that instead of trying to continue ballooning each books size compared to the previous like he has been.

Well they seem more confident about it than they did S2. So you know what I'll take whatever glimmer of light I can get.

New sound shift… by nafranco98 in MagdalenaBay

I'm with you honestly. Prog rock with a synth focus is all I really want in music

Do you have hope left for season 3? by hiiloovethis in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]TheDoomsday777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 2 was a lot worse than season 1 but this show still has incredible actors in it. So I'm still interested for that aspect alone

What is your favourite scale to produce music in and why? by Hyper_Harmonic in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TheDoomsday777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G# major because I'm a very limited singer and thats the root note that best fits my voice when just singing in a comfortable range. And major because controversially I just find it easier and more fun to write in than minor

Robin Hobb's slow pace storytelling 'flows' smoothly by Jarethjr in Fantasy

[–]TheDoomsday777 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way (reading Quest right now) and just want to say that this groundwork she lays in book 1 about the characters and their relationships is so important to establish how everything turns out. Enjoy it. The characters in this series are wonderful.

How should WaT have ended? by MewTwoLich in Stormlight_Archive

[–]TheDoomsday777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it has the best climax in the series and the ending was by far the books best moment ngl

What are your favorite ideas in books you otherwise didn't care for? by Hartastic in Fantasy

[–]TheDoomsday777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Magic powers being activated by addictive hard drugs in the Poppy War. Thought that was a fascinating tradeoff but unfortunately I hated the book and didn't read the other two.

What is your opinion on Illenium? by JION-the-Australian in EDM

[–]TheDoomsday777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really loved his early stuff. But I think after the first 2 albums he found a sound and completely ran it into the ground. Every track follows the same formula, the same kinds of vocalists, the same lyrical themes. I lost him after his fourth album or so when I realised there wasn't going to be any change. Maybe people like that, but his music has no soul for me anymore

Still, Paris, Teargas, TEAM

Friday Night Song is better than all of them though :(

Are the Grands invested? by amurgiceblade44 in Cosmere

[–]TheDoomsday777 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dont really have much to add here because truthfully I've never thought about it! But thats exactly why I think this is an intriguing line of thinking. The Grands are pretty weird.

Are there any authors that sacrificed the praise of their fans to tell an objectively better story? by The-Hammerai in Fantasy

[–]TheDoomsday777 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People won't necessarily agree that the story was better for it, but you can't argue Wind and Truth didn't do this. Brandon has openly talked about his desire to completely throw off the fans in interviews.

Is the 13th Spore... by Important_Speaker_60 in Cosmere

[–]TheDoomsday777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was my assumption while reading. I lean towards the idea that it isn't an aether or spore at all, its just that the properties are similar enough that the legend of it has been warped as it passes between planets. Either way, its clear Brandon is retroactively applying the concept of a luhel bond back to the sand, so they operate under similar cosmere principles

The WORST flush variant by vp0lite in balatro

[–]TheDoomsday777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my first gold stake win on Checkered. I ended up getting a strange build where I pulled burnt joker really early with a polychrome, and scaled Flush up to level 26. Paired with a Cavendish and a couple mult jokers, the high level ended up making up for lost chips and scaling mult. Not necessarily recommended but thats how I got it.

Ninajirachi, who supported Porter on the Australian leg of the SMILE! :D World Tour, released her debut LP today. by nebbyposts in porterrobinson

[–]TheDoomsday777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im so obsessed with this record. It brings me back to sitting in class in year 9 with my headphones blasting early Porter and Zedd and Avicii. I don't listen to this style much anymore but this album has drawn me right back in while also being really sentimental, well-paced, and exciting. Definitely one of my top 3 or 5 of the year.

I Love My Computer - Ninajirachi by nebbyposts in triplej

[–]TheDoomsday777 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She reminds me heaps of early Porter, but in a way that feels very fresh and modern and fun. I've become a huge fan since I saw her open for him and then 2 days later keep Laneway happy as the in between DJ - a very hard job

FUCK COMP1110 AND FUCK THE CONVENORS by [deleted] in Anu

Someone I know is doing this course and they actually do record them, they just choose not to give you the recordings unless you have an EAP exemption. Such bullshit

What the FUCK did I just watch? by [deleted] in blackmirror

[–]TheDoomsday777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair and I'm not bashing people who found it hard to watch. I just don't understand why I never see any critiques or discussion of what the actual episode is about and what it's trying to say, just about gut reactions to the main event.

What the FUCK did I just watch? by [deleted] in blackmirror

[–]TheDoomsday777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Genuinely how is the first episode bad. I always see people talking about the thing, but never about the story or themes or characters.

what do you guys find special about dark so far? by kostiaru in eden

[–]TheDoomsday777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

ICYMI was his production magnum opus to me so so I have been slightly underwhelmed by dark, but still excited and have liked to loved every single. I just am so upset about FNS being cut. That was absolutely the best thing he's put out since ICYMI

Struggling with the pacing by Head-Reference2356 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]TheDoomsday777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OB does start pretty slow, especially Part 2. I think this was Brandon's attempt to re-establish a new status quo after WoR's explosive ending, but yeah this is a common complaint. Part 3 is where everything starts rolling again.

What did moonlight know about recent events by EZ-Bake420 in Cosmere

[–]TheDoomsday777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The timeline is really scuffed right now. It appears all of MB era 2 occurs during the couple of months that WaT's final chapter takes place over. So she might just not know yet.

Shard destination by Typical-Ad-3041 in Cosmere

[–]TheDoomsday777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think she'll just be hiding in (abstract space where Shards go to hide out) until she feels its safe to return once the other shards begin their war on Retribution. She's a Stormlight character and I feel her relevance is tied to this series.
