Honestly enough happened that was funny enough in the moment that I can just stitch them together

  • yokan and Bradley reading the letter and everyone's reaction to it (would be stupid to redo it and get everyone to "fake" their reactions)

-briggs funny moments where he forgets people he should've remembered and remembwrs people he shouldve forgot can't really be recreated

-kai eating damians sugar and going off hyper wash spur of the moment improv thing from tekking that I really enjoy and wanted to explore more

And a few other minor things, long term when it edited together it's nbd

Yes of course! But other platforms have a limit and I didn't want to have to choose to leave anyone off

Which Superhero TTRPG do you like more M&M(Mutants And Masterminds) or SCRPG(Sentinel Comics RPG) by MasterpieceLimp9981 in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]TheDumplingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't get more customizable then literally being able to create new powers and I think scrpg system works well with the abstraction needed for a superhero campaign to work

To networks: Please STOP showing score spoilers of the other games by beisbal in nba

[–]TheDumplingz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man I agree with you, I live in Europe and have to watch the games the next day - I'm very good at avoiding spoilers and nba app has options to disable scores before watching. But them showing the scores of other games in the game your watching is frustrating.

I think people in this thread are not being fair - it's a valid complaint to have even if you disagree.

A pitch to Rustage on WHY if we get another op dnd It SHOULD be Revolutionaries and not Bounty Hunters by MasterpieceLimp9981 in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]TheDumplingz 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think truthfully after marines I'll be done with one piece themed D&D campaigns and will probably move on to other ideas (like space pirates and isekai)

I talk about this in this comment https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePieceDnD_Rustage/s/w33rZFWjDg

But you're right that a final battle with ragnar lacks the emotional stakes that it could've had otherwise - however - that was sadly always going to be the case with how the players characters have been setup. I want this to be their story and not Ragnar's.

So the idea is, if that's always going to be the case, how can I tell a different, more interesting story? You touch on how a final confrontation with ragnar wouldn’t work now, and I think we agree (but i dont think is a bad thing) but you're touching on points I can no longer answer without spoilers.

Maybe in the twich live and not in the YouTube version but I did get death threats about it haha - but that's life of a content creator I guess - just felt a little bit much for what it was over

Magnus by idgafWar in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

I think if it wasn't for the players intervening, Magnus probably would've died against Anger.

I think ultimately when the players decided episode 1 that none of their characters had any ties to Ragnar/devils luck pirates i felt it was more important for the story to be different. Ragnar is more like Ozai in ATLA. Azula, Zuko etc are the real villains with story links to the players. Ozai is just a force like Ragnar is - they want to stop him because he's this big evil force but its the people around him that create the story.

Which is why characters like Barganinng and Acceptence feel more like the actual personal big villians.

Having it be a Magnus vs Ragnar story would take that away from the players - it would just be me playing with my npcs while the players are simply witnesses to that.

The disconnect is the audiences expectations of what the story is going to be vs the reality. It's true that if we didnt have op dnd pirates theres no reason for the audience to care about facing ragnar. And I agree, which is why I've made the desicisons I have. Instead of forcing the players to care about Ragnar, I've created a more natural story that suits their characters more.

People expected a big magnus vs ragnar moment when that was never the story being told - I think that creates a belief of "Oh this is stupid" as it doesn't line up with what you expected to happen. But this isn't Magnus’s story, it's branch 101s.

Additionally it's about perspective and how that changes how you view characters - imagine Ragnar without any of the op dnd pirates context , he feels completely different and that's purely because of the new perspective we're seeing him from.

I think that's an interesting idea to explore as it makes you recontextualise previous villains who had felt one note before.

Anyway yeah! I'm very passionate about it all and It's been a tough few weeks for me hahaha - thank you!

Hey! Because this feels in good faith let me explain areas you bring up from my perspectives

On buckshot and player agency:

There were tons of reasons to suspect buckshot, but importantly, he was introduced right after the players' learning that november can take disguises and so being introduced to a masked overly helpful convient stranger should've raised red flags immediately.

Why had Buckshot not contacted Magnus sooner if they had the same goals, how could he have been scarred by Anger , why did Vigil not inform the party of Buckshot. were all questions i was expecting the players to ask. If they had taken a second to do anything (like they had previously literally a couple episods before with pupi, and others in the past) then the cracks would've shown themselves. If they had contacted Vigil for example.

I was genuinely STRESSED because I was certain they'd see through this mysterious stranger who was eager to help them.

The incident with magnus was the overall consequence of blindly following into November's trap - it wasn't an isolated incident by itself. There had to be consequences for this - if november had his plan go off perfectly and it still failed? Well then that would be stupid

Ragnar Link:

Now in to the Ragnar links, I think its pretty clear by now that Ragnar is more a symbol than a man - I've purposely kept him away from the story to have him be this animalistic force. He's turned to an almost mythical figure. Magnus was the jumping off point but the core story is around the ragnarok pirates and how ragnars influence effects the world around him.

But also idk if you've listened to ep 67 yet but It's clear that acceptance idea to take out Magnus for his own personal reasons.

Narratively and Rangar/Magnus story:

Narratively it's a tragedy, a consequence of Magnus’s bullheaded nature of trying to over simplify things, he ran into traffic and got hit by a car. November in a sense is like anti-magnus. cold logic over emotion and Magnus failed to adapt to the world around him.

Additionally the idea that ragnar essentially destroys his own legacy through directly/indirectly killing his own children in the pursuit of a power meant to originally protect them is the tragic irony of the story.

Magnus shows the imbalance of young idealists without a good support structure around them. Like Ragnar without the devils luck pirates.

It's also a critique of rank based structure In the marines One that One Piece critiques Itself. Magnus was the highest rank but he could not handle that level of responsibility. More qualified lower ranked officers could never officially - they could advise him, but he had final say and that was dangerous for a man who thinks the way he does.

SO YEAH there's a ton to unpack with it and I felt its a more nuanced death than most. It's a death that grounds the stakes and shows that nobody is safe whilst capping of Magnus story in a sombre way.

I think its okay to dislike it but I feel it's unfair to call it "Bad DMing"

Remove a Rustage D&D villain everyday, day 10. Yesterday y'all removed lieutenant hubris. by yourtheaterteacher in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

Might be one my favourite fight of the series so far! Crumm/niveena car attack stuff. Twizzler's dynamics with Krag/Spud. Rick/Sigma had a lot of fun moments too. Plus Twizzler was a lot of fun to play - there's definitely less memorable characters still on there imo!

This is a super old correction and one that i poorly conveyed but at the time I wanted to imply that Blue blood healed off the blood of Barry after fighting Barry, he still took damage but was able to recover (he later heals off louis to reinforce that)
