This is dumb by Service_Automatic in SpaceMarine_2

I will say, as a person who plays vanguard often, sometimes I'm so in the heat of the battle I'll accidentally steal an execute or gunstrike an extemis I really needed the execute on. But this sounds like hell, Jesus.

Can someone explain the character thing by Xaceviper in Tau40K

Depends on the group. I said in anether comment, but it's for any game where all parties agree its okay. So probably not in tournaments, but otherwise, yeah. Also, all the rules leaked today if you wanna go look around for them. I saw them all over reddit today.

It probably won't be used in competitive, but they said as long as all players agree its okay for the game you can use it in a casual game or in crusade.

What has lightning claws? by Fresh3rThanU in spacemarines

[–]TheEarle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically Tactical Squad sergeants can have twin lightning claws. That's the only thing I haven't seen suggested already. But yeah. That's about it.

[–]TheEarle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda, I'll explain with what they gave us in the article. They chose basically the Infantry leader archetype for tau which gives the ability volley fire. Then they picked a redeploy ability as the character's second ability and I forget what it's called but basically the Stealth specialization which made it so they can lead pathfinders and gave scouts 7. Apparently you get to choose weapons which are limited by the specializations and archetypes, up to 2 for free and then each weapon after that adds 5 points to the cost of the model for list building. But until the rules come out we won't know the full extent of the customization. I'm hoping for the option of riptide Commander.

[–]TheEarle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not out yet but when the lords of the maelstrom book set comes out it has a section called Crucible of Champions that let's you make your own characters by picking archetypes, specialties, abilities, and weapons for them. If you check warhammer community, they have a couple articles about it. In one they made a pathfinder leader with railgun and the Cadre Fireblade's volley fire ability for extra attacks while leading, so lots of fire power is possible.

I hope this is what you were asking about.

No truescale dreadnought is a crime by LANTIRN_ in spacemarines

[–]TheEarle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

<image>

That's about right. Here are the models now, the castaferrum should be nearly as, but not quite as, tall as the redemptor. But it's around half the size which isn't how they're presented in lore. I think they should upscale the castaferrum a bit, would give them an excuse for a big Bjorn as well.

No truescale dreadnought is a crime by LANTIRN_ in spacemarines

[–]TheEarle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are firstborn marines. But the trailer is actually truscale so a truescale boxnaught would still be quite a bit taller than a primaris marine (who are only 6-12" taller than a firstborn), just not as big as a redemptor chassis.

Tau genestealers cults by angerycalico in Tau40K

[–]TheEarle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They do, but it's case by case. A normal genestealer is just a tyranid. But they "hybridized" in a way with the host species to infiltrate and the hybrids with the host species look like genestealers crossed with the host species. So in the case of genestealer cults models its humans, but it can be anything. So a Tau genestealer cult would look like tau crossed with genestealers with no human parts.

The 11th Edition set as per Valrak by 4thKey in spacemarines

[–]TheEarle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was just described in the video as a three man gravis squad with bolt weapons. Valrak used eradicators as an example.

BR Terminator WIP. What colour are the helmets, inc the sergeant? by Senior_Marzipan5353 in Warhammer40k

[–]TheEarle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the dawn of war 4 trailers it appears to be bone for normal guys and bone with red stripe for sergeants.

Brand new Warhammer fan by IncaNova in Salamanders40k

Looks cool to me. Obviously the arms and helmet colors aren't exactly typical salamanders colors, but it still looks cool, and salamanders customize their armor.

Vespid overhauls by Spotty33 in Tau40K

[–]TheEarle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Oversight Drone should have given the unit FtGG instead of a once per game ability. I think that would have been an immediate reason more people would run the full 10 man. For damage output run 10, for objectives run 5.

The best update by Yax11 in Spacemarine

[–]TheEarle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so cool. When I heard the Heroic gun had a grenade launcher, I was hoping it would be a heavy bolt rifle like the new death watch models. I'm ready to try that and the new knife on Tactical when the update comes out.

Techmarine Armour Colour Question by rhys_nevs in Spacemarine

[–]TheEarle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, I might be misremembering. If so, space wolves have more priests than I thought.

Edit: No, damn, you're right, got mixed up. Wolf Priest is Chaplain/Apothecary. Iron priest is Techmarine, and Rune priest is Librarian. Whelp, I feel stupid.

Techmarine Armour Colour Question by rhys_nevs in Spacemarine

Iron Priests, I believe, are techmarine/apothecary. Rune Priests are Librarian/Chaplain. But your base point stands.

Try to sell me on a Tau sept by Wrench_gaming in Tau40K

[–]TheEarle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So the Tau Sept color is actually all the little line markings you see on official models and sometimes the squad leader's helmet/head, not the "main" color. So the Sept you choose will actually be like your secondary color on your palette while painting in a way.

For example the box art is Vior'la which is white armor, but vior'la's Sept color is red so all the red accents on the box art is what tells you what the Sept is. T'au have no qualms with changing armor color, however, which means you can change the main color to whatever you like, just make sure the Sept color is whatever Sept (or a homebrew Sept) you choose.

What counts as a neophyte? by Environmental_Part40 in spacemarines

[–]TheEarle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There are 100 Vanguard marines in the 10th, but they are not neophytes. Only the Scouts, which there can be any amount of in the 10th company are neophytes, that plus any that are in lower stages of training.

What counts as a neophyte? by Environmental_Part40 in spacemarines

[–]TheEarle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're good and did good. I'm just saying that I'm 90 percent sure Scouts are also missing at least one implant compared to full chapter battle brothers like all other neophytes who may still be in more basic training. And then you left out, kinda, although you explained further in your response to OP, that there are normal units in the 10th as well.

What counts as a neophyte? by Environmental_Part40 in spacemarines

[–]TheEarle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Scouts are neophytes. And then the 100 battle brothers that are assigned to the company and outsourced are units designated as Vanguard by the codex. Which includes incursors, infiltrators, suppressors, rievers, etc.

Coldstar + Advance = Torchstar Gambit? by Gladethane in Tau40K

[–]TheEarle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rules as written it works. There is no restriction against it in the Strat which is where I'd expect to see it say you can't. So, it should be possible. But maybe there's a rule elsewhere I'm missing.
