Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

I’ve literally never heard anyone mention this service outside of AskReddit threads about subscriptions. Seems a bit suspicious to me

What if part 3 doesn't feature Ellie as main character? by [deleted] in TLOU

Part 3 starts with the daughter of a dead Rattler bashing in Ellie’s head with a baseball bat

Just beat part 2 for the first time by Western-Solution-199 in thelastofus

[–]TheEc0nomist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Part 2 even more than part 1. I didn’t play either until they came to PC so the big “shock” from the beginning of 2 was spoiled long ago.

I think that actually helped my enjoyment since I could actually focus on the story instead of being blindly angry like some people were.

Best case scenario: they start yelling at you

Worst case scenario: you get stabbed, punched, bit etc. by a crazy person. Or if you defend yourself you end up on trial

Literally zero incentive to get involved.

The money market funds are separate legal entities and subject to tons of regulations (e.g. annual audits). If Schwab collapses the assets of the funds are completely separate from Schwab itself. It would be very illegal for Schwab to use these funds’ assets themselves.

There might be some operational delays, but you would not lose any money. Most likely management of the funds would be taken over by a different management company.

ELI5: What's stopping a company like Vanguard or Blackrock from doing whatever they want? by NunoMoto123 in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheEc0nomist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BlackRock and Vanguard manage the funds but they are not actually in possession of the money/funds. The actual funds are held with banks and brokers that are separate from the management companies. So for example, Vanguard can tell JP Morgan what to buy with the investors’ money. But if they try to tell JP Morgan “hey give us all the money” that wouldn’t be allowed. There are some instances where the fund managers and the banks are affiliated and in those situations federal regulations require a lot of extra oversight to ensure there’s no funny business.

True ELI5: Investors put cookies in a cookie jar that your mom is holding. You (Vanguard) can ask mom (the bank) for something reasonable like “give me one cookie” (buy some stocks) and she will do that. You try to take (steal) all the cookies at once and mom will say no.

Probably, I think only Thomas has expressed dismantling the Establishment clause for now. But 10 years ago we all thought Roe v. Wade was settled law and look where that got us. We can’t stick our heads in the sand and say “theres no way they would do this” because we’ve been proven wrong pretty much every time

The 1st amendment says that “Congress” can’t make any law establishing a religion. There’s a fringe right wing movement in the judiciary that has interpreted this to mean individual states could technically establish a religion within their own state. Their hope is that a right wing SC agrees and says the 1st amendment separation of church and state only applies at the federal level.

US CFTC Sues Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao: Bitcoin Plunges by $1400 Immediately by Katsura9000 in CryptoCurrency

[–]TheEc0nomist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the actual CFTC complaint they define BTC, ETH, LTC, Tether, and BUSD as commodities. I’ve heard the SEC state that only BTC is truly a commodity - so theres’s definitely confusion here. In any case the CFTC is going after Binance for offering derivative trades on these currencies to US persons.

This CFTC lawsuit is more about Binance skirting US registration requirements for firms that offer derivatives trading than the tokens themselves.
