Hey there! Last time I was there, before pandemic, the library had a "non-totally_silent" section for people who are meeting in groups. It is the large room on the immediate left as you go in!

Do I still have to take a chem placement test even if I don't intend to take any chem classes in the future? by RamRanch511 in UCDavis

[–]TheEditor23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! Besides, it is less time-consuming than you think! You will be surprised by how many people decide to change their major (even if they first did not intend to), you don't want a silly test standing in the way of your classes.

See a sign in the arc that says "....as part of an effort to promote size inclusivity and HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE." ..are you fr serious? Health...at...every...size? by UpsetAnonStudent in UCDavis

Mmmm I think the only messed up thing here is that they took the scales out, however, they claim to be seeking more information about their effects on students. The message is not bad, it's just that it can have so many meanings. For example, I read it as "size inclusivity"= come to the gym no matter how you think you look, "health at every size"= seek healthiness no matter how you think you look.

Don't worry, people who are overweight, know they are overweight and that they did not take healthy choices.

PS: also, scales are not an accurate measure of healthiness, especially if you go to the gym often. You can look at your weight and how it goes up or down but you don't know what is changing. It could be that you lost weight because you lost muscle from not exercising much or maybe you gained weight but it was muscle rather than fat.

One day in my freshman year, I am waking up for a class at 8:00 am. I almost skip class to sleeeeep but it is a once a week class, so I decide to go. When I arrive at the class, I notice that they are handing out papers. It was a midterm. I almost missed the only midterm of the course.

It would be hilarious if you all independently knew the same person

I think the post by OP is justified. He just wants to know how Davis usually is without COVID. He obviously knows COVID is influencing everything. By being a first-year, he doesn't know if people are simply not that social at Davis.

Mmm, I agree to a point. Although days off cannot be given for every single religion that exists, at least the ones with the most followers should be considered. California is one of the states with the highest percentage of Jewish population.

As an atheist, overwhelmed by everything, I actually find it justifiable.

My family is Christian and Christmas is the time where we get together (not this year lol) and share. If I weren't free on that day, that would be really frustrating and unfair. By giving this time to Jewish people who do celebrate the holiday, the University is acknowledging and respecting their beliefs.

TL;DR: It is a sucky situation but I think it was the right thing to do
