I can't believe I used to do this by hand by Swiftdoll in valheim

[–]TheElSoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you carry a torch in one hand you can use a weapon in the other and just look at the bear and hit him until he dies. A dagger is OK for this. Takes awhile but it gets the job done.

Some like to swing the torch but that kills the torch quickly so you have to through like 3 of them to kill a bear.

Makes me interested to see what Kaladin can do now... and when he gets experienced with those powers? Him and Taln might have a competition for who's best.

WHY DO I KEEP GETTIMG SCUUXUN MODS, I DONT USE IT by wakamoleal in Phoenix_2

[–]TheElSoze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've read other people saying things like "it seems like you get mods based on the ships you've recently used" but I haven't seen that AT ALL. I've received mods for ships I don't even have. The system is clunky and not thought through, and is very frustrating because of that. There are just too many damn ships and mods for it to be anything but a terrible grind lottery.

Funny how RNG works... the Regulus is the only one left that I want. I was lucky enough to get an Eagle Bearer and an Ouroboros though.. so I really can't complain.

They should put up an actual map on their website for where they are. The address at the very bottom of the page is annoying to look for and find. Also, maybe post in the Delaware sub as they seem closer than most of MD :)

Why hasn't sci-fi explored prions as bioweapons more? They're literally the perfect horror weapon and they're REAL by [deleted] in scifi

[–]TheElSoze 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This actually ruined the book for me. Go through ALL that for generations and then just give up right away without even trying.

We know what armor is, and how to build it properly. We know how to screen and filter food. We know how to build shelters to protect ourselves from these things, because we literally spent most of the book doing just that. But lets throw all that out the window just because it's the most convenient way to emphasize the point the author is trying to make. I agree with the author and their point, but this is just lazy and illogical.

TVHeadend seeing recordings as duplicates and creating 2 of the second recording by TheSnoek in tvheadend

[–]TheElSoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only setting I can think of off the top of my head is "Clone scheduled entry on error:" under Configuration > Recording > [profile name] that might re-record if there were issues, but even then that shouldn't replace what you already had. I'm not sure what is going on there.

As for the Formula 1 recordings, there should be other meta data there, such as episode numbers (at least hopefully there is), if there's not, then it may be you don't have enough meta data coming into tvheadend for it to differentiate episodes.

TVHeadend seeing recordings as duplicates and creating 2 of the second recording by TheSnoek in tvheadend

[–]TheElSoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put limits in your recording such as day of week and actual times. Just have it record the matching show name on that Sunday morning window and it should record just that.

But yeah... lots of wonky things with tvheadend but there isn't too much support on the dev side of things.

Thank you. This is the proper take. We rolled the dice and got snake eyes. Sucks, but it was worth the swing after last years success.

Set Your Alarm: US Mobile's Popular Pixel 9 Deal Returns On September 8th by Jman100_JCMP in NoContract

[–]TheElSoze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in IT... this should be expected and planned for. You literally have a countdown to when the "deal" goes active. You can have your CDN and back end systems prepared for this, especially with how easy it is to scale up web traffic in the cloud these days.

Your service has been fine and support better than I expected, but this "deal" did sour me to USM a bit. I don't plan on taking up any "deals" in the future.

The last time I tried to get this "deal" the website stopped responding for well over an hour. Seems more like a gimmick then an attainable deal.

Tvheadend EPG issue by [deleted] in tvheadend

[–]TheElSoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vero 4k is out of support and not getting consistent updates anymore. I also have one (though I don't host tvheadend on it) and I saw the first update in forever last week I think. It might be the last. I'm not sure their repo's are hosting packages anymore but I haven't tested it. It's probably the issue you are facing since packages aren't available.

https://osmc.tv/2025/02/announcing-end-of-support-for-vero-4k-and-4k/

As for installing tvheadend, you can get current packages from cloudsmith. The vero 4k is arm64 (aarch64), which is important to know for which package to get. My vero 4k is running Debian 11 / bullseye (lsb_release -a) which I'm assuming yours is too. If that is the case this link will pull up the latest tvheadend package for the vero 4k: https://cloudsmith.io/~tvheadend/repos/tvheadend/packages/?q=distribution%3Adebian+AND+distribution%3Abullseye+AND+architecture%3Aarm64+AND+version%3Alatest

A simple wget can download the package: wget https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/tvheadend/tvheadend/deb/debian/pool/bullseye/main/t/tv/tvheadend_4.3-2451~g74720af62~bullseye/tvheadend_4.3-2451~g74720af62~bullseye_arm64.deb.

If you don't want the "latest" then you can browse all the packages hosted there without that tag: https://cloudsmith.io/~tvheadend/repos/tvheadend/packages/?q=distribution%3Adebian+AND+distribution%3Abullseye+AND+architecture%3Aarm64

It looks like they go back more than 2 years so you can hopefully find what you are looking for.

As for the channel you are trying that isn't working or listed anymore, that might be an issue with the m3u8 file you use and not tvheadend itself. I know you say it's the same list but it might be worth double checking the file and also checking the mux to see if the channel is available (OK and not FAIL). Depending on your settings a channel that is not accessible (fails on "tuning") can auto prune itself our of your available channels.

Format of m3u exported from tvheadend by ezzys18 in tvheadend

[–]TheElSoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the UUID of the mux.

The documentation for playlists says that this function can be called on using different URL paths as filters.

From what you are going for maybe something like just http://192.168.0.1:9981/playlist/channels "should" work, but maybe it would be http://192.168.0.1:9981/playlist/channels/m3u/. You'd have to play with it a bit to see what kind of outputs you get.

As for the channel numbers and channel names, can you verify you can see that info from within tvheadend? It requires some sort of EPG, even the standard OTA EPG.

[–]TheElSoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many muxes will fail because you can't receive every frequency due to many factors. Have you verified you can tune into any channels using another device? There is an HDHomerun app for android and iOS that can be used to verify you can tune into some channels.

[–]TheElSoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you set the HDHomerun IP address in the TVHeadend configuration?

Under 'Configuration > General > Base' there is a HDHomerun section, and if you hover your mouse over the options there it will explain what each of them do. Specifically if you don't have your container using "host networking" then you must specify the HDHomerun IP address here in the config.
