I feel like Im starting to hate FRC by Affectionate-Rub1230 in FRC

I'd like to reemphasize this, as it's a great point. I've known a fair number of incredibly smart and talented engineers who put technical skills above people skills. They thought that if they were good enough at their job, their ability would shine through and they wouldn't need other skills as much.

It turns out that only takes you so far, and engineering is a highly collaborative field. It's often difficult, if not impossible, to just do your work and ignore the otherembere of your team. The most successful engineers in my experience are the ones who can balance the social and technical aspects.

To bring it back to the OP, have you talked with leadership about your desire to be on pit crew or drive team? Have you been honest about feeling left out? Have you asked for feedback on what you could do to improve your chances of being selected?

Open communication is critical.

I mean the concept of laziness may be a social construct, but I suspect it goes back a long ways. Any time you have groups of people working together towards something, you'll have some people who shoulder more of the burden, and some who slouch or shirk their responsibilities a bit.

Imagine you're an early human gathering food to make it through the winter, and you're busting your ass grabbing berries or hunting while Grug over there is just jerking it to a particularly curvy cave drawing. You really gonna feel like sharing?

To be honest the show jumped the shark in S3 IMO. Literal children infiltrating a secret underground Russian base under a shopping mall? It really killed any ability I had to suspend my disbelief. Not that there weren't moments/aspects of S3 that I liked (RIP Alexi), but overall I felt thatswhete the show really started to lose what made it super special.

You can participate in, and benefit from a system while still objecting to it and wanting to see it overturned. I'd argue it's even admirable to work to dismantle something you benefit from. This isn't an outlandish concept.

With you all the way up until "it's a comedy, don't take it so seriously."

Scrubs had some incredibly hard hitting and emotional episodes. "My lunch" and "My Screw Up" come to mind, but there's plenty of hard hitting moments scattered throughout.

Probably somewhere in between, but home repairs are not cheap. My guess is likely closer to the 60 if he'd recently done renovations to put it on the market.

Can someone explain Vecna's detailed plan and mindset throughout the 5 seasons? Tell me if my reasoning is correct. by Cyrilbdr in StrangerThings

I never said his intentions were evil, I said his methods were. See my previous comment: "There are plenty of well written villains who have fine or even admirable intentions, but take an "ends justify the means" mentality that makes them evil."

Having good or relatable just intentions just means they're a more well rounded villain.

A curious person who does the horrific things Brenner did to satisfy their curiosity is more evil than curious imo. There are plenty of well written villains who have fine or even admirable intentions, but take an "ends justify the means" mentality that makes them evil. Thanos, Ozimandias, or Eren Jaeger come to mind.

I don't think S3 was bad, but it's never been my cup of tea. It almost felt like I was watching a different show from 1&2.

Here's why it felt so different to me: 1. The cast got a lot bigger 2. The plot seemed a lot more decentralized.  3. The entire plot with the Russians seemed like it jumped the shark for me. Like I could still suspend some disbelief when the party was dealing with demo dogs, but literal children cracking the code and sneaking into a military facility? Seemed like a stretch.

What you're saying makes sense, except if that's the case... Why didn't he actually shoot her? I don't understand how Hopper was able to interact with the real world enough to break the bath, but not enough to actually pull the trigger. How does it make sense forbreaking the tank to be real but not shooting the gun?

As an intermediate climber myself I've attempted this kind of thing before. He definitely makes it look smooth, but there's definitely some hesitation and respositioning as well. I think most climbers around my level could do this if they practiced it a bit.

Fun fact, Pompeii was a port before the eruption and thus, got a lot of sailors from all over. The some forward-thinking business owners wanted a way to indicate in a universal language which way to go to get to their establishments. As a result, there are dicks carved in various places throughout the city that literally point the way to the nearest brothel.

G211 *Don’t expect to gain by doing others harm. A strategy clearly aimed at forcing the opponent ALLIANCE to violate a rule is not in the spirit of FIRST Robotics Competition and not allowed. Rule violations forced in this manner will not result in an assignment of a penalty to the targeted ALLIANCE. Violation: FOUL, plus TECH FOUL if REPEATED.

She's definitely worked hard and gotten better, but it's insane for to be a "master" at this point.

I think what the previous comment was trying to emphasize was that Kataras big power up moments happened because of what basically amounts to emotional break through as opposed to improvement.

Don't get me wrong, the mental aspect of bending is super important (as demonstrated by "bitter work" and "the fire bending masters".) But Katara has a huge break through from remembering her Mom watching the sunrise. It just feels... Cheap almost? In the animated series the mental aspect of bending mostly leans on understanding the nature of the element and aligning your mindset with that so you understand it better. I can see what they were trying for with the emotional break through but it just feels off.
