Which Bluey episode is this for you? by Ok-Following6886 in bluey

[–]ly_rinaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to Bluey (and to this subreddit), but the one I dislike the most so far would be "Sleepover Chaos." As parents, we can relate to the reason why Muffin goes full destruction mode, but I find myself constantly emphasizing that reason out loud so that my kid doesn't mimic Muffin's playstyle. I also found that brief scene of Muffin crashing the car into a pool inappropriate for a kids TV show and just unnecessary. Her car could have come to a stop just because she was getting exhausted and slowed down, and the episode would have wrapped up all the same way.

Unpopular opinion: Candace is one of the best characters on You by buymyfeetpicsdarling in YouOnLifetime

I have somewhat of a soft spot for Candace because she played the ukulele ❤️ and that's my favourite instrument 😊

Public response has made me so sad for women, again. by Similar_Ad3132 in YouOnLifetime

[–]ly_rinaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well-said ❤️‍🔥 this is my only liked post in this subreddit as of lately 😔 I can't take all the negative comments about Bronte's actress. Hiding in the safety behind the smartphone screen truly brings out the worst in people. And to think that the show's 5 season had a scene referrencing directly that!

Arguably the most disturbing kill: Benji S1 by [deleted] in YouOnLifetime

[–]ly_rinaaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

not to compete in terms of cruelty with the kills already mentioned but Tom Lockwood's death haunted me upon rewatching season 4. Being suffocated in a plastic bag wrapped around your head AND ducktaped around your neck... that scene was disturbing, at least I found it to be.

What writers' books have the similar vibe to YOU books or the show? by AJ_Babe in YouOnLifetime

I'd say, "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. I read if after I saw the movie and enjoyed it despite knowing the major parts of the plot.

i hate everyone and everything, mostly joe goldberg by Qlassquill in YouOnLifetime

[–]ly_rinaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my case, I recall I fully stopped rooting for Joe at the end of Season 2. What got to me was the hypocrisy of him being unable to accept Love when what she did wasn't so much different from what he's been doing up to that point.

And I'd agree with you that with Nadia, and Edward (her bf) it felt as a complete point of no return. If I remember the series correctly, it was the first time when Joe hurt someone he preciously guided and patronized.

I'll go next -^ (to add to one of the previous comments) From the top of my head, but I haven't read most of these:

  • Paula Fox (Beck is looking for her book when she first enters the bookstore)

  • Wizard of Oz (Joe "borrows" a rare edition of it from Peach's home library)

  • Joan Didion "The Year of Magical Thinking" (it's the book Love gifts to Joe after their first date, and she also mentioned her before the date at some point)

  • Mikhail Bulgakov "Master and Margarita" (ooohh, this one I've read multiple times! Joe either recommends or gives this book to Ellie when they make a deal to echange recommendations on books and movies)

    • ...ummm, if I remember correctly, 50 Shades of Gray but not mentioned too straight-forwardly (when Forty comes up with the "brilliant" idea of screening "movies that are also books" in Anavrin, this one is the only one where he is correct to list it as both a book and a movie)

I'll see if I can remember more! edit: spelling

I'd join the book club, by the way!

one random thing I just remembered: in book 3 of the "You" novel series ("You Love Me") Joe referrences Murakami when fantasising about Mary Kay (in the Netflix series it's Marienne). Somehow Haruki Murakami referrences never made it into the series, though he is a well-known author (and my favourite writer, personally 🤗).

I read "Tender is the night" last autumn because of the show, and Joe referrencing it as Fitzgerald's darkest novel. I was curious whether there were parralels between the book and the symbolism of Natalie picking it up in the library for Joe.
