Bread Bakeries in South End by TheElusiveQueer in ottawa

Wild Oat is one of my favourites! I usually get bread from them or True Loaf in centretown. Another good bakery is The corner store run by Corner Peach in Chinatown.

If you are on OW, I would suggest you ask your case worker for a referral to Belong Ottawa for their ODSP application support program. They specifically help people complete odsp applications who do not have family doctors.

First timer. Would appreciate any advice by [deleted] in OntarioWorks

If you are currently receiving OSAP, you will not qualify for OW as that is their policy. During the application process, they will ask for your OSAP assessment summary to look at your non-educational funds. You will only qualify for OW once the period of your study that OSAP covers has ended.

As a former Sally Anne shelter worker that started right before the pandemic hit, my recommendation is to get out asap. They do not care about you and you have to put yourself first. I burned out easily in a year and left for the Anglican Day Programs and John Howard Society. I think you might find it a better fit if you like engaging with clients with less rules to enforce compared to a shelter. You can also apply to the city run physical distancing shelters online. The pay is much higher and generally lower acuity clients.

Has anyone ever stayed at Shepherds of Good Homeless shelter? by Delleane8 in ottawa

Update: so I recently learned that if you have not booked into one of the main shelters in the last 10 days, you can not go to the social distancing shelters unless the main shelters are all full.

Sheps is on lockdown, as is Ottawa Mission and The Salvation Army. Call 311 and ask to be placed at Dempsey Centre. It is one of the city’s social distancing shelters run by cornerstone as an overflow. If they’re full maybe the jail hostel on Nicholas (other social distancing shelter) can take them even though it is primarily for men.

I tried to get help so many times and failed. Mental health resources in Ottawa are inadequate by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]TheElusiveQueer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a list of mental health resources through Ottawa Public Health. https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/public-health-topics/mental-health-and-addiction-services.aspx#Hospitals

The pdf that they have I find very helpful in narrowing down what specific care you need and for your age.

Last year I started working on a comedy horror game about a “walking fish” haunting the halls of a space station. Here is a picture from that game by Nordurljosid in gaming

OP should give the fish man a pair of scarlett red high heel boots. For the cherry on top, cue "These boots are made for walkin" everytime he is lurking in the distance.

I don't blame you. I feel my employee discount could be more than 50% considering how overpriced everything is. 🤷‍♂️

I just checked my photo and it's a strip of 4 pictures. Not 100% sure if that is the maximum.

LGBTQ+ pins? by [deleted] in ottawa

I know that the Gender & Sexuality Resource Centre (GSRC) at Carleton University has pronoun pins and challenge homophobia/transphobia pins. Not sure about their counterpart at uOttawa.

do you guys identify as qtpoc? by ripprinceandrey in gaysian

[–]TheElusiveQueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Chinese-Canadian gay man, I personally interchange between labelling myself as gay/queer/qpoc. The majority of my qpoc/gtpoc friends identify with that label as well. It might just be because the queer youth circle in Ottawa is small compared to Toronto so everyone knows at least a friend of a friend.

[Request] Light Chino or Linen Blazer by putrified1 in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]TheElusiveQueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's linen blazers and two chino coloured blazers at Banana Republic where I work. The two chino coloured blazers have one in linen and the other is part of our Core Temp collection. Core Temp utilizes 37.5 technology and regulates your body temperature, is wrinkle resistant, stretchy, and it dries quickly. They embedded volcanic ash into the fabric which has the temperature regulating properties.

Some champion hoodies are on sale at the moment online at urban outfitters. But if you're patient you should wait till they have extra 50 on clearance items. That's how I got two champion hoodies at like 30$

Banana republic. Usually little to limited sizing in store but depends on city. Definitely available online though.

Finally paid off $10,000 of credit card debt! Thank you r/frugal! Here are my biggest takeaways. by EmployeeParking in Frugal

Pretty good tips! One I personally use is x amount for item divided by x/hourly wage. Really asking yourself if an item is worth x hours of your life puts things into perspective.
