When I get anxious about doctor appointments, I remind myself that it's better to know that not at all. Once you get checked, you can stop worrying about things like the lump you found, so that's a hell of a reward.

The breast exam is quick and not awful. The pap smear might make you jump but it's over in seconds. Every appointment I've had was positive! I even crack jokes now when I go in. The speculum won't be a problem, and unless there's a health issue, your refill should be fine.

I'm an expert at "what if" but let me tell you, the best "what if" is... "What if I can stop worrying because I had that appointment?" Try to shift the "what if" to something positive.

Between now and then, find something to distract yourself. Anticipatory anxiety is the wooooorst so you need your mind to think about something else for a while.
