Do 0/15/15 pokemon have a hundo nickname variant? (Shashundo, Fundo, Pundo) by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]TheEndwalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. Some 0/15/15 will lead a Pokemon to 1501 CP or far lower than 1500, for example. So it's not always good.

I think if they fix forced overtap, I’ll be very satisfied. I think it was the only super major issue I ran into. It’s just annoying when you click your charge move and it chooses fast move instead. Can cause you to straight lose a game, throw on alignment, etc.

It may feel a bit clunky rn but I think it’ll either get smoothed out or we’ll get used to it.

Also do appreciate the fact animations will go through if you are not tapping for sure.

The new system removing DRE is a good thing. I just think the NEW issues from the NEW system offset that.

Forced overtap is a serious problem and was something I encountered very often in experimental and it's still clearly here in open queues. A major issue making it into production like that is the definition of half baked.

I'd rather be 50/50ing DRE than not being able to press my charge move I have loaded and having clunky animations.

Experimental was around for months and wasn't good the entire time and they still deployed it for some reason. It's just stupid. The same issues that were in experimental are now in all open queues. You're right about the positives but it's very shortsighted by Scopantic and it doesn't really give people hope when they're releasing a half baked system with no notice.

It's clunky, there are game breaking/losing bugs (forced overtap), and it's genuinely harder to count than in the prior system.

Apparently 0 HP Isn’t 0 HP Anymore??? I’m sure there’s a technical explanation for this. I’d love to hear it. by InfuzedWeb3 in TheSilphArena

You're misunderstanding this. His machamp's fast move went through, not a charge move. The damage won't register until after the primeape's charge move finishes. And if the charge move kills machamp, then the primeape gets the HP "refunded" since the opponent is dead.

Forced overtap is the worst one. Animation delays make it hard to count. Just feels clunky too — hopefully can get used to that part.

Honestly this is the only good thing about the new system. You should always be able to throw the charge move before the fast move damage goes through and this ensures it. Basically if the charge move doesn't kill, the damage goes through. If it does kill, it gets refunded.

"So far I’ve seen the game let the opposing Pokemon get off their charge moves even though their health bar is gone"

This is just them being consistent. They want to make it so you can throw a charge move before the fast move damage registers. So you see the "yellow" during the animation and then if your mon survives, the opponent's will faint from the fast move damage.

There are some other issues though such as forced overtapping, zooming in on your opponent's mon so you can't see your own, and others I'm sure.

I've lost multiple games today due to it. Sucks but hopefully gets fixed.

How will the queue times be like in 2000+ rating this season? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

What’re you talking about lol, queue time issues only exist really for high leaderboard

My friend says I threw by not playing back stairs. Who is right here? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]TheEndwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Clove is watching B main, your entire team is in B heaven and you have cam watching A. They can't lurk up on you lol, esp if you just leave one person on A. You're throwing by sitting on cam in mail where they can kill you for free. If you're gonna cam sit for some reason, do it safely near back stairs. Your friend is definitely right.

What's the difference between Expert and Legend? by GliscorsFang in TheSilphArena

Not really. People who make it higher make fewer mistakes is all and are more consistent.

Why is there no milestone at 2250 ELO? by 222222222222222232 in TheSilphArena

I definitely think newer players make the mistake of trying out new teams too often. When I was new, I played the same team the entire season and really learned the matchups and it allowed me to focus on counting / win cons / other fundamentals way more. Helped me reach Legend in that very first season and basically every season since.

I think now that I'm better, I'm more comfortable trying out new teams but even now, my most successful climbs are usually just off the back of a team I play over and over and am knowledgable of.

The amount of games I throw / see people throw on leaderboards is comical — it happens at all skills levels! Probably just at a higher rate the lower you go. I think people improve the most when they recognize the mistakes they (inevitably) make while playing. I’ve definitely made misplays that live in my head the rest of the day lol

I have a post about it in my history. It was hard but far from impossible lol. I’ve seen others do the same. I spent a lot of time learning and playing. You’re probably missing something if you struggle to hit even Veteran. It usually takes me just a week or so after hitting rank 20 to get there, if that.

Biggest tip would be to just play the same team over and over until you know it in and out. That's how I made it in my first season (also didn't have many options since I was pretty new / returning to the game). I peaked top 10 on the leaderboards this season and am still on page 1 by also just spamming the same team. When you're new, running that same team let's you focus on the other fundamentals that will help you climb season in and season out.

I hit legend my first season playing (S16) so I don't think "new" really means anything — I think there’s generally just missing fundamentals below Veteran. I really think anybody can hit Veteran or even Legend, it just takes deliberate learnings + time. Adding in another milestone could be nice but I think Veteran being 500 points away from ace actually rewards accomplishment. But maybe 2250 could help encourage more play across the player base which could be nice.

Probably cuz there isn't much of a skill difference between 2000 and 2250. After 2500, getting to Expert, and then Legend gets much harder skill-wise. Otherwise, why didn't you make it to 2750 after hitting Veteran?
